View 1 RepliesI want to create slightly rounded corners for an image prior to printing. Being non-destructive and able to adjust the degree of rounding would be great too.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to get a print preview displayed prior to printing using PSE11 and a Epson Artisan 730 printer. I've ticked the print preview box but the print preview fails to appear and the printer prints the image straight away!
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I soft proof an image in Lightroom (5) and in Photoshop (CS6) on my external display there is a noticeable difference between the two proofs.
This is the case both with "simulate paper & ink" on and off (with matching settings in both applications) and with a variety of different profiles being used. On my laptop screen the proofs always match (between Photoshop and Lightroom).
On the external display with soft proofing off there is an exact match between images in LR and PS. With soft proofing on saturated areas of images (particularly reds, greens and yellows) become noticeably less saturated and blocked up in LR as compared to PS. Subdued colours appear to match. It's almost like they are both using the same profile but Lightroom is squashing it into a smaller gamut. I'm fairly sure PS is correct and LR is the one with something going wrong.
I'd like to sort it as I'd prefer to soft proof in Lightroom as that's where I print from. I've read up a lot on colour management and can't find a solution.
(I'm on a Macbook pro running 10.8.4 and the external display is an NEC Spectraview 271 (euro version of PA271W), the display is calibrated and profiled with Spectraview 5, with an i1 Display Pro. Working space in PS is Prophoto RGB and it's set to preserve embedded profiles. I've checked with various test images but mostly been using Bill Atkinon's printer test image. I set up the image in LR and PS to match on screen position and with the same colour (white) background, I can then flick back and forth and there should be no change but there is and it's very obvious.)
When I am going through RAW files from my Canon cameras (1Ds MkIII and 6D) I edit them in the develop module and then convert to aRGB or sRGB depending on the output media. They look good in aRGB and sRGB too when I take into account the limitations of sRGB.
---> However, if I try the softproof to aRGB or sRGB the resulting proof crushes dark tones into solid black. Why is this when the actual conversions are way better? The actual conversions look good in both LR and PS CS5.
I have also noticed that when I upload images to my online galleries and view them with Firefox (latest version and color management enabled for all rendered graphics) they appear darker in the darkest tones than what they appear in LR. What gives?

I am interested in controlling motion/blur in the photograph, prior to Lightroom and Photoshop. Many photo subjects (e.g. leaves, cars, waves) are moving. I've been calculating the pixel size in a photo. This is not just the pixel information of the sensor. For example, with a certain lense zoom and focus distance, each pixel will represent a definable zone of the image. Then, there is the zone of the print, which corresponds to the original zone of the image. There are many variables to consider. Motion within and beyond each pixel affects the image.
I am interested in literature, documentation or people that will guide me in the understanding of the control of motion/blur in the taking of the photo. With this, my photos will be far better and, also, easier to edit.
I want to create a lightroom catalog of more recent photos but I want to use the keyword list from a prior catalog. Is it possible to "import" the prior list into the new catalog?
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday, while browsing through my Lightroom catalog looking for some older images, I noticed that LR5 could not open any images (NEF, CR2, JPG, TIFF, etc.) from mid 2010 and prior! The error message only says: "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo. You will not be able to make adjustments to the photo." !!! The thumbnails are all blank!
I was very surprised as I haven't used any other image editting sw for the last I don't know how many years. I wonder, are there any ways to reclaim these images. I have some precious photos of my mother before she passed away and don't want to lose them an any cost.
It seems all these files are somehow corrupted. The only thing I can think of is when I switched over to LR5 and the image catalog was updated, something in the process went wrong, though can't be 100% sure. I did try to open the files in a separate viewer (non adobe) but that also failed. I'm using a Macbook Pro with the latest OSX (Mavericks). The images are on an external encrypted drive. From 2010 onward, there are no issues and everything is available.
I'm using a Nikon D600; and often my imports contain hundreds of images shot Raw.

View 8 Replies View RelatedHow do I convert the colour profile of a Lightroom custom printing package from Adobe Prophoto to sRGB before printing? For that matter, how do I save the thing? I have no interest in saving the template, or the collection separately, since neither has any use without the other. And without saving them as one finished item, I have no way to convert the colour profile of that item. I can see clearly from the appearance of the print preview that the above mentioned colour profile conversion is required.

How do I brighten photos prior to emailing the photos using Photoshop Elements 9?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI thought that I could just use Quick Mask to manually paint with 100% black or 100% white to adjust the boundaries of the selection and then save that final selection as my alpha channel.
However, I'm discovering that when I do this, I end up getting a weird grey-ish artificat (which incidentally, I can't figure out how to remove it). How I should be properly modifying the selection prior to actually saving it.
I'm using Photoshop CS5.5 and I've placed a layer with my watermark. I'm trying to apply a plastic wrap effect, or many different artistic effects. But I cannot preview what it will look like prior to carrying out the artistic filter.
I think I may have to rasterize the layer or something like that. Basically I carry out the filter. nothing changes.Older versions you could see what was going to happen before you carried it out.
I have a .DWF underlay that I am tracing over an aerial. I need to create hatches for several areas, and tried to PEDIT the lines and arcs into a polyline. Several segments, however, were not "connected" to the adjacent segments even though I'd meticulously snapped to endpoints to draw the lines.
Is there a command or LISP routine to check for connectivity before I attempt PEDIT so I can fix the gaps first?
I am creating a template that will have four text boxes that I will populate from a merge document. I need to have the envelope feature applied to each of the text boxes so any long text will be compressed to fit in the designated text box.
I understand the basic function, input text, select text, select Envelope feature but that sets the envelope box to the size of the inputted text, where I need a fixed text input box size.
For some reason I can't change the hatch pattern scale prior to hatching an object although after placing the hatch I can. The procedure I am using is as follows in LT2011. Select hatch, set the hatch style, over type the scale say to 100, click inside the area to hatch. Immediately the hatch pattern scale sets itself back to 1 I then have to type 100 back in and then the hatching will be set.
