Revit :: Changing Units Doesn't Save
Feb 16, 2013my problem is very simple:
1.- I started a new drawing, changed the project unit settings (manage>project units> etc...)
2.- I saved the new drawing as a template
3.- I started a new drawing from the previous template I created in step 2, but doesn't keep the units as I set up.

Apr 4, 2012I have a venue drawing that is in mm and I need to convert it to ft/inch so I can update and get dimensions from it. Can this be done so when I change the format in drawing units it will update the drawing units?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Changing Units Causes Objects To Disappear
Oct 26, 2012We need to xref a drawing with a different unit. When I go into the drawing file I want to xref and use the "-DWGUNITS" command I change it from feet to inches and use Architectural. Answer yes to all questions and certain objects disappear. Most of the objects are pline or spline objects. Here is what I see in the AutoCAD Text Window:

There a lot more of scaling failed messages. too many to show. How can I xref in these drawings with different units without objects disappearing?

Nov 30, 2012I've noticed an anomoly when working with XREF's and changing units. With the company that I work, we receive client drawings, XREF them in, and put our drawings on top of them. For this particular project, we have about 150 drawings that we are working with. The biggest problem is the drawings we receive are in various units, and we draw in millimeters. So when we go to XATTACH, we have to make sure the XREF drawing's units are set to mm, although most of them are not. So we navigate to the XREF drawing, open it, open the UNITS window, change it to millimeters, accept, save, and close the drawing. However, when we go back into the actual drawing to XATTACH again, the unit change in the XREF has not taken effect. Reopening the drawing and launching UNITS will show that, indeed, the unit change was not saved. Doing it a second time will take effect, but why do we have to do this dance in the first place?
This problem occurs about 50% of the time. I can't seem to find a pattern with it. If I make a change to the XREF drawing itself as well as changing the units (like moving the pan or zoom), but to no avail.

AutoCAD 2013 :: User Created Blocks Changing Units?
Sep 26, 2012Our office created a library of blocks for use in our dwgs in the early days of Autocad. Since installing MEP2013 when inserting the blocks many of them have mysteriously changed from inches to millimeter units. We have to go back to each block(dwg) and change the units and rescale the blocks. We upgraded from MEP2012 and they were working fine.

In model space I set the units form my dwg (cm), draw a line (100units). Next i go to paper space, create a viewport. When the viewport scale is set to 1:1 the ploted line is 100mm in length (not 100cm). Why is this so? How should I correct this? Changing of units in model space does not effect the length of the line in paper space.
Lightroom :: 5 - Syncing Two Units With External Hard Drive?
Dec 16, 2013I have a desktop and laptop both of which run Lightroom 5. Recently I have setup a wireless connection to an external drive so that I can share my photos between the two. Problem encountered is that when I do edits on one of the computers the other does not read them because its Lightroom version does not have the edit history thereon. Is there a way that I can sync the two units?

Mar 20, 2014I had to change my photo disk (phisycal location). Now LR5 is showing the metadata, but as the photos are not there, I can't edit them. How can I update the photo locations,without loosing all changing metadata? LR5 remains installed in the original disk, but I moved the photos to a new disk.

Nov 27, 2011I'm using an external hard drive with a laptop PC running Lightroom 3. Every now and again I unplug from my ext HD to leave home with my laptop. When I return and plug the ext HD back into the USB slot I realize that the computer has allocated the ext HD a different drive letter than it had the last time it was plugged in. This confuses Lightroom and puts question marks all over the folders on the file drive letter that it had the ext HD stored under previously.
Is there anything I can do to make the computer name the ext HD the same letter every time?

Feb 16, 2012I am using LR 3.6 and have imported several RAW images. In some of these images, there is a bright blue background that looks great in LR. When I export to JPEG using the sRGB color space, however, it turns a sickly purple-blue that looks terrible. I've tried exporting to JPEG with sRGB, AdobeRGB (1998), and ProPhoto RGB color spaces. When I use the AdobeRGB (1998) color space the JPEG looks better than the sRGB equivelant, but still not as brilliant as in LR. When I use the ProPhoto RGB color space, the JPEGs look the same as they do in LR (which is what I want). If I export them all using ProPhoto RGB color space, will the exported JPEGs look much different on the web than they do on my desktop? What are the risks of exporting in the ProPhoto RGB as opposed to sRGB?

Sep 11, 2013I have a macbook pro running osx 10.8.4 and LR 4.4 installed. When I try to change the cache size in the LR Preferences from 1.0 gig to 10 it doesn't "stick". I change it, close the pref. menu and when I reopen it to check, it's back to 1.0 How can I change this and make it stay?

May 30, 2012I'm getting ready to build a new PC, and I'm trying to plan out how to move my LR catalog/images.
The problem is that since I've been upgrading my current PC for years and moving user data since XP. The result is that my LR catalog expects some older images to be in c:documents and settings... XP-style, others in c:usersxxx when I moved to Vista, and others in d:usersxxx when I moved my user data to a bigger hard drive. The images are actually all in one location, and there are various OS mappings that make it all work.
I'd like to avoid all this mess with my new setup. Is there a way to essentially do "update folder location" on many folders at once? Unfortunately, they are top-level and don't have a parent folder I could do that to.
Oh yeah, using x64 Lightroom 4 on Win7.
Lightroom :: How To Avoid Changing Original JPEGs
Feb 25, 2014I'm using Lightroom 4.1.
There an option in Catalog settings called "Automatically write changes into XMP". I like it. Very much. But not for JPEG.
The reason is rewriting the original datetime of JPEG file by Lightroom. It rewrites it even if I don't make any changes in the Develop module. For example, if I simply change item's Caption in Library or item's Copyright field then Lightroom instantly changes my JPEG. I don't want such behavior. I'll try to explain why.
Sometimes datetime of the file can contain important information about when this photo or video was made. For example, some phones don't write EXIF information into the video files (e.g. 3gp). Therefore, the only place where we can see when this video was shot is the datetime of the file. If Lightroom rewrites original datetime, we will lost this info.

Feb 2, 2013I'm shooting with a Nikon D3s and always had the problem that the imported photos went a few stops darker when they were imported in Lightroom. I figured out that I get better results when I change the camera profile from Adobe Standard to Camera Neutral (which probably equals my setting on my camera)
So how can change this setting for the rest of my already imported stock and how can make this the default setting for my future photo imports?
Lightroom :: Changing Names Of Missing Files?
Dec 22, 2013So I managed to have a fatal two disk crash and almost lost half of my catalogue. Luckily, I recovered one of the drives, but it renamed all of my files. I was using original file names (dumb mistake), and it seems there is no way to recover them. In the future I will be using YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS to keep things recoverable.
So at the moment I have recovered and renamed the files along those lines (YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS). What I want to do is rename the links in the catalogue to match as the files have that exif data, and then I think I can recover the files. Of course, Lightroom is throwing up roadblocks. I'd like to recover the photos with their edits, so is there a way to rename the files in the catalogue to match my new files?
Lightroom :: How To Stop LR From Changing Setting / When Import
Oct 20, 2012Whenever I import photos the exposure and other settings are changed. I have resete every default setting I can find for any kind of preset.I tried to uninstall by dragging to the trash can (Mac OS) and reinstalled to try and clear the issue. Not sure this was the correct process as it didn't seem to wipe everything out. Don't know what setting got changed along the way. Just trying to get everything back to default so that my photos aren't arent manipulated before I can even get them to the develop module.

Jan 1, 2014I have Photoshop CC 32bit and Photoshop CC 64 bit installed on my Windows 7 PC. I want to use the 64 bit version for esternal editing, but my photos from Lightroom 5.3 go to the Photoshop CC 32bit version for external editing. I cannot find a way to change this preference.
Any solution other than uninstalling the Photoshop CC 32 bit version which does not appear to be an option?
