Mar 23, 2013I just bought Lightroom 4 and used "move" instead of "add" when importing photos from my photo files on my HD. Can I reverse this by using export?

Lightroom :: How To Correct Lens Correction Profile Choosing The Wrong Lens
Nov 27, 2011Using LR 3.5.1. When applying Lens Corrections/Profile/Enable in Default, my Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 actual lens is being corrected by the profile for a Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 lens. I can tell it's the wrong correction because the barrel distortion after using the default profile is not corrected, and when I manually select the 4-5.6 lens the correction is perfect. So I know the right data is embedded in the LR correction data bank but is not being used.
I found that when I set the profile Setup selector to "Auto" the correct lens is selected and the correction it makes is "correct." But then moving to the next photo it switches to Default again, selecting the wrong lens, and so has to be set to Auto for each photo. This action doesn't seem to me to me an expected result called "Setup." I need this for my home interior photography, and with hundreds of photos a week I don't want to manually operate this. This didn't happen until v.3.4 or 3.5, I think.
So, how do I get it to select the right lens as the Default, or get the Auto setting to stick? Either would do. (Seems to me they logically are the same thing).
In addition, why isn't it possible to have the profile itself enabled as a default perhaps in a preset - or is that possible and I don't know how to do it? In other words, once it's working right, why not make it an import preset for that lens?
Illustrator :: Correct Method To Add A Pantone Swatch?
Sep 13, 2012My workplace works with both Digital and Print work and I wanted to know if how we're adding Pantone swatches is correct.
I'm using CS6 and I open the Pantone+ Swatchbook and add the Swatch from there. The Swatch is in the LAB Colour mode and I have "Use Lab values..." selected in the Spot Color Options Dialog.
My colleague, using CS5, opens her Swatches panel and selects New Swatch > inputs the CMYK Colour values from the Pantone+ printed book > selects Spot Color from the drop-down.
We're both working on the same documents, so when I open up her file, her colours look off to me. Specifically, Pantone 497 C - my brown is looking a red compared to her brown which is darker. When I open up my Swatch and change my Colour mode to CMYK, the values are completely different.
We'd like to understand which one of us is doing it wrong and which way we should go to streamline the colours to ensure that we're using the correct Pantone?
Lightroom :: Cannot Import Photos To The Correct Drive
Jul 26, 2012I cannot convince Lightroom 4.1 running on Windows 7 to import to the drive given in Catalog Settings>Location. It invariably imports to the drive where the Lightroom application resides... correct folder name but wrong drive. I've checked everything, and both the Windows Users Photo folder and Windows Photo Library folders are pointing to the correct drive as well.

Aug 3, 2013I'm using Lightroom 5.2RC. My camera is Sony RX100M2.
Everything was working fine until a few hours ago. Then I noticed that a few shots I took late this evening were being imported into yesterday's folder. So I carefully checked what was going on, and noticed that LR import was seeing an incorrect date and time for the file! For example, below you see the date/time it sees for the first image -- that date/time is wrong.
: LR sees the wrong date/time whether I try to import from camera, from SD card in card slot, or WiFi.
Windows Explorer reads the correct date/time of the files, as does the camera, Playmemories etc. Only Lightroom is seeing a wrong date/time. I even uninstalled LR and reinstalled it, and it's still seeing the wrong date/time in import. I have also formatted my card and took new photos, but same behavior.
Lightroom :: Wrong Date On Created Folder When Import Photo?
Jun 6, 2013Sometimes (atleast 2 times) when I take photos late, butween about 10-11 PM they are created in a folder with the date for the following day.
Last time this happend was yesterday (2013-06-05). Almost all photos was automaticlly in folder for 2013-06-05 for the import but 10 photos shot between 10.07pm - 10.43pm was put in the folder 2013-06-06.
Im using Lightroom 4.4 Swedish version.
Is it at date/time-proporties in Lightroom which is wrong (not Swedish-time) or what can it be?
Lightroom :: Canon S100 Photo Capture Time Correct But Video Capture Time Is Wrong?
Jan 6, 2013I have a Canon S100 and just started importing photos and video into my LR 4.3 catalog. I convert RAW to DNG, and the Capture Time on the photos in LR is correct. However, the video Capture Time is shifted forward exactly 8 hours. I know how to correct the video Capture Time, but is there anything I can do to stop this from happening in the first place? I looked at what the metadata looks like in Bridge.
PHOTO:
Date Created = Correct Capture Time
Date File Modified = The time I imported the file into LR.
VIDEO:
Date Created = Capture Time + 8 hours
Date File Modified = Correct Capture Time
Lightroom :: Major Catalog With Wrong Capture Dates After Moving Files On Import
Jul 26, 2013I had a decently organized folder structure with all photos from about 2005 on being organized by year (moved to their corresponding year folder on import from memory card).
However i had about 10,000 or so photos which were placed randomly in folders and sub folders from various backup/restores etc, which were imported into lightroom but not moved into their corresponding year folders.
I just purchased LR5 and i wanted to finally take the time to organize my file folder structure and create a new catalog. Following a method i researched found here: [URL]....
Here is what i did:
1) In Lightroom 4 i highlighted All Photos and saved metadata to file for every photo. (thinking this would keep all original metadata and any adjustments i made on the files)
2) Fired up lightroom 5 and started a new catalog. I then proceeded to import folders from my photo file folder and use the Import and Move option which imported and moved the files into the folders by year.
3) This seemed to work well but it seems i wound up with lots of duplicates (the older photos i had often had filename1.jpg and filename1-2.jpg which were often a cropped dupe) which was not a big deal and still ok so far.
4) I really liked the ability to click on the Year folder in the library and see all the photos for that year but i noticed that TONS of photos were missing within each year.
It turns out that a TON of photos which were in one of their own folders (not by year) folder were moved to 2013 folder and the original capture date had been re-written as 7-24-13 (the import date) overwriting what it was originally there and ruining my organization!
My catalog is a mess, all the files have been moved to a year folder and alot of the years are just plain wrong. I don't want to sort through my entire collection (48,000 photos) and find miss-labeled dates and out of place files!
what can i do to restore the original capture date and put my collection back in the proper order?

If I link in a dwg file by shared coordinates it comes in in the right position but the dwg lines aren't straight if you move the mouse they jump around.

Sep 25, 2013I import dxf file created in CadKey or SolidWorks. I have done this thousands of times but all of a sudden they do not import in the correct orientation x/y plane. They appear to be importing on the edge. I have gone back to old dxf files that have worked perfectly in the past and they no longer import correctly.

Even if I import the same object straight after I export it with the materials properly set, I still have to reset them all over again. Apr 2, 2013I wish to import from a TOPCON file. The points are from a GPS unit and are in standard form (easting, northing and elevation). I have been able in import the points into AutoCAD, and although they are in the correct location relative to each other, their geographical information has been altered (ie, the old coordinates are lost, and any measurements between points are now completely inaccurate).
I am working in metric units, and I think the problem may be that when I import the block, it comes in with 'block units' in inches. I cannot see how to change this. I also cannot select 'locate using geographical information' when I insert the block, which I think may be important in preserving geographical information.

Feb 27, 2012I loaded Photoshop 10 and then imported/moved my catalogs from Photoshop 6. They are all scrambled - do not honor import dates/sequence and have dates and file names all intermingled. Aug 26, 2012I imported photos and forgot to update the last destination to the new one I created for the new photos. So, they got imported into the last folder I imported the previous set to. I want to move them to the proper folder, but I am afraid to use the "move" option because it says it will move the photos and then delete the previous folder. The folder has the previous set of pictures that I saved there and I don't want to lose them. How do I move a selective set of my photos from the folder to the new on I want them to reside in without losing the set that were in that folder previously and were saved properly?

From Lr I took an image to retouch in CS5 and when it came back to Lr it looked terrible - the exposure had changed at least a stop and I did not do that in PS. I loved how I had Lr2 set up and I have lost it all. In Lr2 the edited image would automaticaalycome back with a T (for tweaked) added to the name and look like it did when it left PS.

Happy to have it back opening... I shut down and LR recommened a backup of my 30,000 images. After 14 hours the system was still in full lock down and I had to force a restart. Now the file is listed as not writeable and cannot be opened.
I removed the *.lrcat.lock and this will not work this time.

Feb 1, 2014I seem to have a big (and very weird) problem with dates in Lightroom. This relates - for the moment at least - to images dating back ten years, to when I had my first digital camera, a Nikon D100.
My belief is that the photo in question, one of many, was taken at around 2pm on the afternoon of 17th April 2004. Note the following from the image (EXIF data):
- The "date/time original" shows 17/04/2002 13:58:48
- The "date/time digitized" shows 17/04/2004 23:15:29
- The "date/time" shows 17/04/2004 23:24:17
The same image in Windows explorer (see second image) shows:
> Date 17/04/2004 23:15
> Date Taken 17/04/2004 23:15
> Date Imported 17/04/2004 22:24
Given the subject matter of the image, it is 100% certain this image was in fact taken in April 2004.
How can it be, then, that the "original" shows a date two years earlier? Why would Lightroom use this field (the ONLY one showing 2002 when every other shows 2004)? And why does Explorer correctly show the date but Lightroom does not - surely if anything one might expect the opposite?
This is urgently needed to be resolved as I am making a photo book for my wife's 40th and, as it turns out, I am putting all the photos in all the wrong years!
