I am trying to append GPS data to my photo's using a track log which I have converted from KLM to GPX. The information loads onto the map just fine, but after selecting the option 'Auto-tag xxx selected photos' the process bar does appear in the top-left corner, but never progresses.

I'm running a PC with 24 GB of RAM, a 128 GB SSD boot drive and a dedicated 128 GB SSD dirve for Photoshop/Bridge/Lightroom cache.
I am running 4.3 for Mac as trial version. When I try to import, the status bar goes to 100% but does not finish. So import hangs.

When shooting on white seamless, I gradually bring up the background lights until I see the raw file just blowing out as I want it, at my shooting aperture. With LR4 and auto-recovery - using this method of 'metering' if you like - I'm adding 2-3 extra stops of light than I would expect before this happens, which then gives me wrap around and flare problems. I'd like to take back control of this, so I'm not guessing where my pure white is any more..
View 21 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems with Lightroom 4.4 and importing photos from an external hard drive. I've worked with this configuration for years with no problem. I've been working with 4.4 since it was released as an RC, no issues. It started to be very slow to move into the import modual/function. Then it would hang every time and no sources for import would come up and the program would just stop and I'd get the "not responding" message. I thought it might be a corrupt catalog so I tried one of my backup catalogs, I tried different catalogs all together. I deleted the preference file and that seemed to be the beginning of the end for my current installation. When I tried to open Lightroom (via the catalog file) after deleteting the preference file it was like Lightroom couldn't/wouldn't rewrite the file and open. It would hang. Eventually I did get it to open up but I had to walk away and let it work on opening for a good 10 minutes. It finally came up but was too slow to work with. I gave up and decided to uninstall it and download and install again. It is still wonky and slow and will not import photos at all. I know it is difficult to diagnose something like this but I'm at my wits end. I've used Lightroom since the very beginning and I've come to be quite dependant on it. I just don't even know where to look to figure this out. I've browsed around for import problems but haven't found a whole lot of information or examples. Oh I should mention I tried creating a new empty catalog on my internal hard drive in case the problem somehow was with the external drive but that isn't the case. Actually I have catalogs on a few different external drives. It doesn't matter where the photos are, Lightroom is not happy at the moment. It barely responds to any input and crashes if I try to import photos. I also uninstalled and disabled my Carbonite because I know that can cause problems with some programs and I am desperate to get Lightroom going again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a relativcely new Lightroom user, and brand new to Lightroom 4. (I just upgraded after a hardware failure forced me to get a new computer.) My photos all came up missing -- mainly because the new computer assigned a different drive path to the external hard drive where most of my photos were stored. I spent much of yesterday locating 5000+ photos in my old catalog. Late in the day I tried to import the "located "photos into the new Lightroom 4 catalog. I am not sure what actually happened, but the photos do not currently appear in either the old catalog or the Lightroom 4 catalog. Fortunately, Lightroom does seem to know how to find them, because if I click "find previous process photos," the re-located photos are displayed. How do I get these photos incorporated safely in a catalog? Do I need to do take appropriate steps before conducting any other processing of photos?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn upgrading to LR4 I wish to keep my process 2010 photos as process 2010. There is no need to redo them because the update pretty much forces you to start again with most processed photos.
My problem is that I now find that LR4 greys out the detail and color sliders for Luminance and color noise reductionas if they are process 2003 photos. That is, I do not have access to the detail and color for the noise reduction section.
I can only assume this is a bug or that Adobe have changed the Noise reduction engine.
Opening my tracklog in LR4 Map (on a PC) plots it with a -5 hr offset, evidently UTC time (I'm on Central Daylight), so the images I shot on the outing won't load to the map. The points on the map in LR show the UTC time, whereas the same track opened in Google Maps shows the correct, local times. On October 3, b_gossweiler looked at ImageDesign704's tracklog and responded "I've removed the timezone inidications on the trackpoints and loaded the tracklog successfully into LR." how to get into a .gpx file and remove those timezone indicationst? My tracklog won't open in Windows.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHaving just loaded 10,000+ scanned negatives in LR 4.3, I am applying Auto Tone as a starting point for development settings. I have selected all images in Grid View, right-clicked to Develop Settings...Auto Tone. I can then go to the Develop page and Auto Tone is shown in every images History.the Auto button is still visible and I can click on it and get different [generally better] settings.
Is there a reason why Auto Tone applied to multiple photos produces different development settings from when it is applied individually to each photo?
I'm experiencing a bit of an organization problem with Lightroom 3 which is probably rather easy to fix, but I just can't seen ti figure out how. When I import photos in Lightroom it automatically creates folders (2011-12-14 for example) and I would like to change the location on my computer for these folders, but I can't find where to do it. It now creates these folders in my regular Pictures folder which gets really messy due to this. How can I change this? And how do I relocate all the excisting folders on my laptop, without having to find all the missing photos afterwards.

I have one scene that looks unbelievable with the "surrealistic" HDR toning preset. However, I record my action and set up the folders and set it to go, but it seems to want me to click "ok" after filtering each photo...there's 1685 of them, so not very keen on that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI shot an event for a couple (a reception) and I didn't have my gray card so I set my Canon 5D mkII on auto white balance (shooting with a Canon 24-70 2.8 and a Sigma 85 1.4). As you'll see from the two example photos - the shots taken in the venue lobby looked fine, but the shots from inside the event itself were amazingly saturated. The room had a ton of very bright uplighting in purple and pink - the shots looked fine in the viewfinder, but once I brought them into LR4, there was a nearly complete purple/pink cast over everything. Setting the white balance in LR to auto, tungsten, flourescent - nothing worked. Adjusting the temp sliders - only slightly better. Reducing vibrance and saturation useful a little more, but I'm really having a hard time finding a fix!

I am in the development moduleI select all photos in my folderI activate the automatic synchonizationI change the selected user defined lens from the Tamron 70-200/2.8 (which is wrong) to the correct Tamron 28-75/2.8 (-> there's a known problem in the automatic detection of the different Tamron lenses because of the ID in the lenses, so automatic detection doesn't work - tell me if I am wrong!)The progress bar shows that it's writing the changes to the selected photos (which takes a moment)Then it seems to be synchronized and I continue workingAfter some photos it shows the 70-200 mm lens to be selected again!
So obviously it didn't sychronize all selected photos!
My system: Windows 8 64-Bit computer, 16 GB RAM
My computer died and needed a lot of work, including a new mother board and new graphics cards. Now LR 4.4 doesn't show photo's. LR seems to be working well in every other way but where the photos should be the spaces are blank.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn Development module in LR4.4, viewing a Fuji X100s raw file (converted on import to DNG) I tick the box for "Enable Profile Corrections" under "Lens Corrections," and select "Auto" from the "Setup" menu. I would have thought that LR would pick up the X100s profile, but no, nothing happens. If I choose "Fujifilm" from the "Make" dropdown, I can find the X100 (not X100s) profile manually. The profile's probably pretty similar, but still, I'm wondering why my install of 4.4 doesn't have the X100s profile in place?
While I'm at it, I'll ask this too -- I recently bought the new Nikkor 35mm 1.8G ED (the new full frame 35mm Nikon lens, not the trusty 35mm 1.8DX) and there's no profile for that lens in my LR4.4 either.
Finally, I note that when I choose "Check for Updates" from the "Help" menu in LR, I'm told there are no updates available.
I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
I tried to import my PSE10 catalog into LR4 on a Mac (lion).It only imported 92 photos out of the 12000. it says: Some Photoshop Elements photos were not included in the Lightroom catalog. The pohotos and reasons are listed below.These files were either unavailable or damaged. (15216).These files are not supported by Lightroom. (10)They all there and could be imported.However, in that case, all the collections are gone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm just trying out LR5. I've watched vidoes where in LR4 you can setup a slideshow to play from a folder, and while the slideshow is playing you can take new photos from a tethered camera and it will automatically add it to the slideshow.
In LR5, on my computer (Mac), the incoming photo seems to get stuck and does not make it into the slideshow. I have to stop the slideshow, and restart it to see the new incoming photo taken by tethered camera. I need this function for an event, so I'm just wondering whether I'm doing something wrong, or whether it is a bug in LR5?
I've selected the mode "Use: All Filmstrip Photos". What I've observed is that while playing the slideshow without going fuill screen, a newly taken photo from the tethered camera appears as a white tile, but then the thumbnail contents do not change. When I stop the slideshow, the photo then gets "Developed" and then it will be in the slideshow the next time I play it.
When I import pictures from my SD Card I usually leave copies on the card for a while so I have them as backup, and to also be able to see recent pics on my camera. However each time I go to import pictures from that card within LR, it defaults to selecting all pics on my SD card even though I have the "New Photos" filter selected at the top of the import box. It always puts all my photos in the "New Photos" section, so I have to deselect all the photos that I have already imported into my catalogue so I don't get duplicates. How do I get LR to only import pics that haven't been imported bfore?
I am aware of the "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" option, but that is not the samea as what I am looking for. It only deselects photos that still exist in my catalogue. Any photos that I have deleted from my catalogue remain selected in the import box as it doesn't see any duplicates.

Doing a project in 5760 x 1080 (3xHD). And smoke does not import, crashes, leaving no reports. Just hangs.Upon a new project, and import, but when pushing the edit button for resize, crashes again. Hangs, no report...

I have a catalog with all photos imported from a trip I just got back from. But when I compare the catalog to the actual photos in the folder, there are 104 pics missing from the catalog. If I try to sync the catalog, it says 104 pics need to be imported, but the import process says there are no new photos.
I created a new catalog and tried to import the folder again, but its still missing the same 104 pictures.
Lightroom 4 catalog does not recognize photos when external hard drive switched to a different USB port. The photos are in My Photopraphs in an external hard drive. I recently had to switch ports and now the catalog can't find the photos.
