I just bought a new camera and took wedding pictures with it yesterday. I went to import them into Lightroom 3 and all the pictures came up in blank box's with a ? in each one of them. It said "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in lightroom. I did double check my memory card and all my pictures are on there.
View 2 RepliesI have tried to import a few pictures. When they import, they are just blank, although if i hover my mouse over the blank picture, it has all the info listed. I also exported a picture and when i opened it, it opened fine.

Have some pics in X4 on Windows 7 but same are not opening in X 12/ Windows 8.
When copied from X4/Windows7 and pasted in X12/Windows 8, icon showing blank and on opening a blank document opens.
In Elements 11, my "people" profile pictures are at times blank, even though the faces are tagged.I just see the person icon instead.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have been able to import and move a file of jpegs but as I shoot jpeg/raw combo, the raw files were left behind in the original file. I can now bring them up, but they are dim and cannot appear to do anything w/them. I would like to move them to the file where I put the accompanying jpegs, but am having no success in finding an answer on how to do this. Nothing seems to activite to let me do this. Along w/this, I generally tend to work straight from camera raw files, the jpegs are generally not used, thus when LR encourages me to work on the jpegs, I'm not interested. I wish to process my raw files and only move to PS6 if I need to do some more intensive work.

The message read "the following files were not imported because the could not be read"? I don't understand, they were all on the same card? They show in lightroom when you are selecting which ones to import, they just will not import. I tried it two times My LR4 is updated as well.

After realizing the files wouldn't load correctly, I researched the issue a bit and found out about the 4.1 RC2 download. I downloaded it and ran through the installer on my computer (iMac, OSX Lion 10.7.2) and everything seemed fine, yet when I open Lightroom it still reads as version 4.0, and won't import the RAW files from the mark iii. I tried restarting, re-downloading, etc
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the keywords to mark up some movies. i dont want the histogram panel because i want to see more of the keyword list. although i can close the histogram panel so it is just a bar, i cant completely remove it. i can remove other panels such as the metadata or comments panels. in the same way, i also notice that i cant remove the navigator panel even though i seldom use it.

I did right click to show in finder and it directed me to my external HD which was connected.
However, it didn't find it by itself. I had to directed to straight to the folder and it still didn't see it.
I'm am trying to import 593 photos directly from my 5D Mark III into Lightroom 4.4 using a USB cable. I received the following error message: "Some import operations were not performed. The following files were not imported because they could not be read (128)." I had previously tried importing the photos prior to the Lightroom 4.4 update. I also did the update to 4.4, restarted the computer and attempted the import again (received same error message). The error message didn't indicate what was causing the problem so I attempted to import the photos to iPhoto and received the message "The following files were not imported as the file type .CR2 cannot be read." All of my software is up to date, computer has been restarted numerous times and I always shoot in RAW. If 465 of the 593 photos were able to be imported to both photo programs, from the same CF memory card, and the file type/format did not change between photo shoots, why would 128 be unreadable?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi need your opinion regarding a phenomena i am observing in the RAW images from Mark iii.The following images appear to be absolutely correct in the camera and when viewed through a picture viewer.I have tried and tested the following scenarios:
1. Used a medium speed kingston CF Card (new) and transferred the images through the USB cable supplied with the camera.2. Thought the card might be slow OR faulty.. used Sandisk Extreme and Extreme Pro SD Cards but same result.3. Transferred SD Card data through the builit in laptop card reader.4. Have directly imported the images from SD Card into Lightroom 4.3, copied the data firstly to laptop HDD and then imported, copied the SD card data to an external HDD and then copied.same result!!5. Have tried the same with both Win7 and Mac OS.6. The DPP sw that came with the camera gives the error of 'Decoding Failed' with these images.
Usually 10-15 images out of 100 give this kinda pattern.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI imported many photos from my external device (CF card or iPhone) manually, i.e. I think Lightroom does not recognize that I have already imported all those Photos.
Now I want to change my workflow and import them directly from the device. I want to use the functionality that only "new" Photos are shown and imported. However, Lightroom marks all thousands of Photos on my iPhone and CF card as new. How can I manually "unmark" all Photos on the card as "new" such that Lightroom will identify the "next" Photos as new but not the old ones?
How does the "new" detection algorithm work anyways? Will it work correctly if I move the imported pictures afterwards or delete some?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to import photos from my Canon 5D Mark III into Lightroom 4.2, the import usually freezes up at some arbitrary point. It will either crash lightroom altogether, or it will have a message saying "could not import all files, files could not be read." (something along those lines.)
I am using a 1 year old iMac with a 1 TB HD. I import directly onto that hard drive. Lightroom has never had an issue importing. My previous camera was a Canon EOS T1i. The problems started when I purchased my 5D Mark III. Images from my T1i, in fact, still import fine with no issues. I am running OS X version 10.7.5. My compact flash card is brand new, a Lexar 1000x. I have seen some suggesting it may be a hard drive issue, however, the evidence points to the 5D Mark III not playing well with LR 4.2. (T1i images still import fine.)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have shot tethered through various versions of Lightroom with various cameras with mixed results. With each new version of LR, it seems that shooting tethered becomes more prone to crashes and in LR 5, I have found that the transfer of images is so slow as to be unusable. I recently had a shoot where I used LR 5 for the first time. The transfer of images was so slow that, after trying disk doctor to repair the disk and restarting the computer several times, I finally switched back to LR 4 and found that the transfer, while still prone to its odd temperaments, was much much faster than LR 5.
While LR 4 seems to be much better than LR 5 for shooting tethered, it is still so temperamental. If the camera sits for more than a few minutes without activity, LR no longer accepts images from the camera. I then have to shut down LR and restart it, making sure to have the camera off until LR is relaunched and tethering is turned on once again. If I do it in the wrong order, it doesn't work. During a shoot, it is maddening to have to constantly restart LR 4.
Looking for making LR 4 less temperamental and LR 5 functional when tethering?
While processing a images from this past weekend taken with the 5D Mark III... Images taken at high ISO (6400 and 12,800) with no noise reduction show a very clear criss-cross pattern across the image faintly. Once you apply about 20 on the NR slider, it will go away. I do not see this with the in-camera JPEG's or with Canon's DPP software with no NR applied to the RAW files. Is this a known issue that will be corrected for the final release of 4.1?

I am having trouble with the Raw fies that have been adjusted in the Develop Module loosing all of their luster and pop when switching back to Library and exporting. In other words, my adjustments are generally flattened out and colors muted when going from Develop to Library. I see that the Camera Calibration shows only ONE profile option: Matrix. However, the same single option for my 7D is also Matrix but the Raw files appear to hold my adjustments after being made in the Develop module.
I am using LR 2.7 and Camera Raw 5.7.
