I am trying to use the keywords to mark up some movies. i dont want the histogram panel because i want to see more of the keyword list. although i can close the histogram panel so it is just a bar, i cant completely remove it. i can remove other panels such as the metadata or comments panels. in the same way, i also notice that i cant remove the navigator panel even though i seldom use it.

As soon as I apply a keyword to images they instantly disappear from the collection. This is alright when I only want to apply a single keyword, but how do I stop it happening when I want to apply multiple keywords to the same image(s)?

I am able to set the GPS locations in mp4 movies in LR4 without any problems. However, if I export these movies now, the tags are no longer shown. The tags are also missing when I re-import them

Now all movies are without sound. I dont know what to do or where to error search this. 100 family movies are just silent now o.O
I'm experiencing latency when playing movies in LR5. I'm connected to my Windows server from a new/fast Macbook running 10.9. Right now, the batch that I'm experiecing this with are .MOV files, but it's happened with other formats as well. The movies play fine when I open them in QT from Finder, so I know it's not the server connection, which uses Gigabit ethernet. When I play them through LR5, I often experience delays where I'll hear the audio, but the video is frozen. Then when I swittch back from Loupe to Grid view, I get the spinning wheel for a while. This even occurs on short movies - 2-3 minuyes long, under 5MB. This should be an easy thing to implement, and baseline for offering movie capabilities.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a new computer when my old one died. I had everything backed up and have managed to successfully restore my lightroom catalogue.
I can see all my photos and all the adjustment history and I can see my library of keywords. However, none of my photos show the key words that I previously assigned to them.
I am not sure whether there is a file that I need to restore from the backup somewhere.
i have been able to import and move a file of jpegs but as I shoot jpeg/raw combo, the raw files were left behind in the original file. I can now bring them up, but they are dim and cannot appear to do anything w/them. I would like to move them to the file where I put the accompanying jpegs, but am having no success in finding an answer on how to do this. Nothing seems to activite to let me do this. Along w/this, I generally tend to work straight from camera raw files, the jpegs are generally not used, thus when LR encourages me to work on the jpegs, I'm not interested. I wish to process my raw files and only move to PS6 if I need to do some more intensive work.

The message read "the following files were not imported because the could not be read"? I don't understand, they were all on the same card? They show in lightroom when you are selecting which ones to import, they just will not import. I tried it two times My LR4 is updated as well.

After realizing the files wouldn't load correctly, I researched the issue a bit and found out about the 4.1 RC2 download. I downloaded it and ran through the installer on my computer (iMac, OSX Lion 10.7.2) and everything seemed fine, yet when I open Lightroom it still reads as version 4.0, and won't import the RAW files from the mark iii. I tried restarting, re-downloading, etc

I did right click to show in finder and it directed me to my external HD which was connected.
However, it didn't find it by itself. I had to directed to straight to the folder and it still didn't see it.
I'm am trying to import 593 photos directly from my 5D Mark III into Lightroom 4.4 using a USB cable. I received the following error message: "Some import operations were not performed. The following files were not imported because they could not be read (128)." I had previously tried importing the photos prior to the Lightroom 4.4 update. I also did the update to 4.4, restarted the computer and attempted the import again (received same error message). The error message didn't indicate what was causing the problem so I attempted to import the photos to iPhoto and received the message "The following files were not imported as the file type .CR2 cannot be read." All of my software is up to date, computer has been restarted numerous times and I always shoot in RAW. If 465 of the 593 photos were able to be imported to both photo programs, from the same CF memory card, and the file type/format did not change between photo shoots, why would 128 be unreadable?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi need your opinion regarding a phenomena i am observing in the RAW images from Mark iii.The following images appear to be absolutely correct in the camera and when viewed through a picture viewer.I have tried and tested the following scenarios:
1. Used a medium speed kingston CF Card (new) and transferred the images through the USB cable supplied with the camera.2. Thought the card might be slow OR faulty.. used Sandisk Extreme and Extreme Pro SD Cards but same result.3. Transferred SD Card data through the builit in laptop card reader.4. Have directly imported the images from SD Card into Lightroom 4.3, copied the data firstly to laptop HDD and then imported, copied the SD card data to an external HDD and then copied.same result!!5. Have tried the same with both Win7 and Mac OS.6. The DPP sw that came with the camera gives the error of 'Decoding Failed' with these images.
Usually 10-15 images out of 100 give this kinda pattern.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am very happy with some 200 keywords that I use in PSE10 under Win7/64 on over 20k images. Is it possible, in LR4, to pick up files with keywords written to metadata, and work with them in LR4 (selection, editing, etc.) WITHOUT damaging or "upgrading" the PSE10 catalog? If yes, could PSE10 pick up keywored changes made in LR4?
Or do you have to commit to one program or the other?
Why do keywords sometimes "jump" out of the master tag folder and line up alphabetically outside their assigned set?

The first thing I'd like to do is move a keyword from its new (incorrect) location as a sub-keyword back to being a parent keyword of a hierarchy. I have tried dragging and dropping it but it immediately returns to its incorrect location. I considered creating a new keyword as a parent keyword (the same word), then open the images linked to the misplaced keyword and drag all the images to the newly created parent keyword. Then empty and delete the misplaced sub-keyword. But...I fear loosing links to collections, vitual copies, etc. for all the images. best method for returning the keywords to their original placement in the hierachy.

The reason I don't want them is that I actually want to re-do all of my keywords/imports. I know it's a big pain, but I feel that it needs to be done, as I've learned how to do things more properly (in theory).

I recently converted from Lightroom 4 to 5. I just noticed that not all my keywords are exported to my jpeg file. For example I have the following keywords in Lightroom; Horizontal, Landscape, National Forest, Scenic. My exported jpeg has only the keyword Landscape.
In the Library Module, when I click on the dropdown Keyword Tags and select "Will Export", I only see the keyword Landscape. I'm not sure what this "feature" is all about. I need to be able to export all keywords.
This problem seems to be consistent and I have a test file set up so I can repeat the problem. Only certain keywords are not exported.
I want to delete some keywords and cant find the source for that task.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI imported many photos from my external device (CF card or iPhone) manually, i.e. I think Lightroom does not recognize that I have already imported all those Photos.
Now I want to change my workflow and import them directly from the device. I want to use the functionality that only "new" Photos are shown and imported. However, Lightroom marks all thousands of Photos on my iPhone and CF card as new. How can I manually "unmark" all Photos on the card as "new" such that Lightroom will identify the "next" Photos as new but not the old ones?
How does the "new" detection algorithm work anyways? Will it work correctly if I move the imported pictures afterwards or delete some?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to import photos from my Canon 5D Mark III into Lightroom 4.2, the import usually freezes up at some arbitrary point. It will either crash lightroom altogether, or it will have a message saying "could not import all files, files could not be read." (something along those lines.)
I am using a 1 year old iMac with a 1 TB HD. I import directly onto that hard drive. Lightroom has never had an issue importing. My previous camera was a Canon EOS T1i. The problems started when I purchased my 5D Mark III. Images from my T1i, in fact, still import fine with no issues. I am running OS X version 10.7.5. My compact flash card is brand new, a Lexar 1000x. I have seen some suggesting it may be a hard drive issue, however, the evidence points to the 5D Mark III not playing well with LR 4.2. (T1i images still import fine.)
