Lightroom :: 5D Mark III RAW Files With 4.1RC - Cross Pattern Noise
Apr 23, 2012
While processing a images from this past weekend taken with the 5D Mark III... Images taken at high ISO (6400 and 12,800) with no noise reduction show a very clear criss-cross pattern across the image faintly. Once you apply about 20 on the NR slider, it will go away. I do not see this with the in-camera JPEG's or with Canon's DPP software with no NR applied to the RAW files. Is this a known issue that will be corrected for the final release of 4.1?
Here is a crop showing this happening. It is not limited to just dark or light parts of the image, but the entire thing.
When I resize and export my RAW files to JPG in Lightroom 4, my photos with hight ISO (1600-6400) picks up noise. Same photo export without resize is ok.
i have been able to import and move a file of jpegs but as I shoot jpeg/raw combo, the raw files were left behind in the original file. I can now bring them up, but they are dim and cannot appear to do anything w/them. I would like to move them to the file where I put the accompanying jpegs, but am having no success in finding an answer on how to do this. Nothing seems to activite to let me do this. Along w/this, I generally tend to work straight from camera raw files, the jpegs are generally not used, thus when LR encourages me to work on the jpegs, I'm not interested. I wish to process my raw files and only move to PS6 if I need to do some more intensive work.
I got the chance to try out the 5d mark iii today, so I installed Lightroom 4 on my computer. After realizing the files wouldn't load correctly, I researched the issue a bit and found out about the 4.1 RC2 download. I downloaded it and ran through the installer on my computer (iMac, OSX Lion 10.7.2) and everything seemed fine, yet when I open Lightroom it still reads as version 4.0, and won't import the RAW files from the mark iii. I tried restarting, re-downloading, etc
I have just tried to upload Raw files from a Canon 5d Mark III to Lightroom 3. The file were not recognised. I believe there were some update issues but my Lightroom 3 is updated. Do I need to get Lightroom 4? I need to know urgently as I have a shoot tomorrow and will go back to my Mrk II if I can't get an update for Lightroom 3.
I'm trying to import RAW files shot from a friend's Canon 5D Mark III, but have been unsuccessful. It gives me the message "the file is from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in lightroom"
I normally import RAW files from my Canon 7D, but for some reason it's not recognizing these files.
1. Workflow is in lightroom version 4.1 Photoshop CS5.5 is used when necessary as secondary workflow 2. Import works fine. "preview thumbnails" appear normal. When I CLICK on the next image it will suddenly do this ^ to the file 3. I have tried taking that EXACT file and running it through Adobe DNG converter but it comes out looking exactly like this... so it seems that lightroom is actually corrupting the file 4. I have a copy of all my raw files on another drive so I can grab those files and they do not have this problem
I set custom white balance for a lot of my photos (I'm a nightclub photographer) as sometimes the colours are so saturated the image becomes unusable. Unfortunately in Lightroom 4 the photos import with the correct WB I have set but when I click on them to develop the settings are changed and the image looks completely awful. I try and adjust the image back to the way I have taken it but it never looks the same....why is Lighroom not recognising the WB settings I set within my 5D?
ive noticed that in designer pro x9 the colour editor gets a cross hatch pattern when manipulating 3d or bitmap objets is this correct? if so, what is the purpose?
Attached is a simple drawing of a round tube sitting on an imaginary level grade. I'm needing to develop a pattern to cut the bottom angle. I'm making a scale model and this is one of the elements. The scale is 1"= 10.66" so this round tube will be 4.5" in diameter. The angle is too gentle to cut in my horizontal band saw; can't fit it between the guides. Years ago, we used to grid out from a base line and develop a continuous curved line on flexible linoleum that when wrapped around the tube, would allow a line to be drawn on what would be my grade level line.
We would then cut the steel tube with a torch on said line. Did this for 24" to 90" diameter pipes. I need to do this for this one cut; I think I can get all the rest of the angles for the project on the saw. I'm hoping that the printable (can be done on more than one sheet if needed and taped together or something) paper pattern can be rendered easily, such as a sheet metal shop might develop a flat pattern for rolling or bending. I'm limited to legal size paper, 8.5 x 17". I'm using AC LT 2011 so I'm limited in my abilities.
URL...., except I am using LR4.2, and a different camera. (Which is why I start a new topic, but feel free to merge it to the previous one if it is best for you).
I recently had a "strobist" photoshoot with my pentax K5. I thought I was in best conditions to obtain killer definition (2 off-camera strobes, iso 200, f4 with a samyang 85mm f1,4 which seems quite good to me and .pef raw file format). But it turns out that I got a weird cross hatch pattern on my pictures :
This is a 100% crop of an unprocessed raw from lightroom. The problem is clearly visible on both eyes.. different shots from the same session, taken with a tamron 17-50mm f2,8 (still @f4) do not show any pattern ! (Same camera, same setup, only differs by the lens and distance to the subject...)
(Which was a relief because I was searching all over the web for the origin of that issue...)I tried the previous process (2010 & 2003), but the issue remain unchanged.
This type of paaren appears on some of my images upon export from lightroom (usually it is most evident on black and whites), how do I eliminate it? It os not on the original or apparent while working on the image in lightroom.
I am a CS6 user, good but not advanced. I recently upgraded from a Nikon D3 to a D4. When viewing D4 files in Bridge after downloading the images (files) appear to contain a lot of noise and to be unsharpe; they appear sharp on the LCD screen on the camera. I believe I have set my preferences properly. When the files are opened in CR or CS6 the noise seems to go away and sharpness is normal; the images print up tack sharp.
I'm unable to find an update that will allow me to open Canon 5d Mark III raw files in CS4. I've downloaded a few updates, but nothing seems to be working.
I have photoshop creative suite version 12.1 - just bought a new mark iii camera and my raw files won't open in my photoshop version....what can i do??
I recently bought a Canon 5d mark iii camera and am having difficulty viewing the raw files on my Mac. The Mac operating software is 10.5.8 and the mac doesnt have intel. Photoshop software is CS3.
I have looked at various plug ins but am struggling to find one that will work. Is there no option to me other than buying a new laptop with the latest photoshop or is there a workaround
I am using Lightroom 5.2 64bit version on my windows. After I export my raw in to the jpeg it has noise. But in the develop module it hasn´t. Also it has got a little bit noise in the library, but it´s the same picture. Where is the sense?
Here are some pictures of that problem:
1. The finally edited raw picture which I want to export.
2. The view from the library, you can see a little bit difference on the quality compared to the view from the develop module.
3. The jpeg after the export.
4. My export settings.
I don´t know what to do! I´ve googled a lot but nothing found.
My workflow goes like this:I use LR3 to apply adjustments, occasionally a preset from say VSCO..While in LR I use, PHOTO > EDIT This photo in - PHOTOSHOP
I do my edits, ADD NOISE, SHARPEN.Then PHOTO > SAVE AS.I save the photo to my external. Here is the issue, when I re-open LR the photo is then present in my Catalog and there in LR to be viewed.... from here I export the final size for web etc and I am done
The photo that is now within my LR catalog is missing the NOISE I am added completely, and the SHARPENING is gone, or much less sharp then the photo I have saved in PS.
I am super confused as to why my old Canon Rebel CR2 (RAW) files have always opened in Elements 9.0, but now my new camera (Canon Mark III 5D)'s RAW files are not opening?
I'm using LR 4.2 and trying to export to PS CS6 on my Win 7 Asus 4gb laptop with 45gb free space on my hard drive.
I have made substantial edits to a raw file in LR and am attempting to export it to PS for final edits (cloning out extraneous features) at 16cm and 150 ppi (less than ideal but still too large). The working file is 73 mb.
However, I am getting an unsufficient memory error when trying this on Tif or Psd, even Jpg. I can get it to export as original, which gives me a DNG but then I get the same lack of memory issue when trying to open it in Photoshop.
What I can do is open the working DNG file in Photoshop but then only some of my adjustments come through - all the noise removal I have done has gone and the image is very noisy in PS. I can also convert it to Tiff using VSO Image Resizer and open this in PS but again, the noise is there.
The image is to be used as the cover photo on an A4 magazine so needs to be of print-quality.
