Lightroom :: Adobe Camera DNG And Pentax K-3
Nov 22, 2013Is it anticipated that Adobe Camera DNG and earlier versions of Lightroom will support Pentax K-3 PEF files?

View 8 RepliesI've just purchased a Pentax K-5 but when I import .DNG files from this camera into LR 3.6 there is only Adobe Standard and Embedded as options in Camera Calibration. I checked the release notes and the Pentax K-5 was supposed to be supported in Camera RAW 6.3. I looked in the relevant folder and I can see profiles for other Pentax cameras but not the K-5.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently conducted a test on some RAW image files that I processed into maximum file size JPEGs, both through Adobe Camera RAW and Lightroom's Export. The Lightroom version of the same image was nearly twice the size.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am runing LR 5.3 and PS6 on Win 7 Ultimate with latest updates as of 2/17/2014. Some of my DNG from the Pentax K5 IIs are not importing or displaying correctly. I have attached screenshots from LR/PS and Silkypix (Pentax Util) for comparison.
View 10 Replies View Relatedwhere to get the plug-in to use the auto lens profile correction in Lightroom for the above stated lens? Adobe only have the older 18-250, and even on the new 5.3 LR version, still have not supplied the plug-in for this lens!
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt worked when I first updated Lr to latest version (5,3) but for some reason it's not showing thumbnails anymore when importing pictures from SDCard. I tried re installing with no success.
I don't know where to look for, I am under MAC OS Lion - 10.7 -
Is it just me or I don't have Pentax in Lens Correction tab in the Develop Module of LR4? How can I add it like it was in LR3?

View 10 Replies View RelatedPlease read the whole post, but if you want to cut to the chase, my question is: for ACR conversions would I be better off with an (Windows) 8-core system and 6gigs of ram, or a 4-core system and 12 gigs of ram? I am a professional photographer who, after upgrading to some equipment that spits out serious file sizes, needs to upgrade his computer system. I shoot almost exclusively RAW and I rely primarily on Adobe Camera Raw to convert my files and open them in photoshop. While photoshop performance is a consideration, my biggest concern is to be able to open ACR images ridiculously quick. Right now, working off 21 megapixel images on my current system, it takes between 10 - 20 seconds to open/convert a single file into photoshop. I'm aiming for a couple of seconds. My current system (please don't laugh ... I know its bad):XP 32-Bitdual-core 2.00GHz3G DDR2 Ram (with 3G switch enabled)5400 rpm Hard DrivesRunning CS4 and ACR 5.3 Future Set Up Considerations:Vista 64-BitProcessor/RAMa) quad-core-Q9600 3.00 GHz with 8 gigs DDR2 (1150MHz)b) i7-920 2.66 GHz with 12 gigs of DDR3 (1600 MHz) - adds about $500 to price - worth it? c) 2 Xeon-quad-core-5530 2.40 GHz with 6gigs DDR3 (1600Mhz) - adds about $1000 to price - worth it?d) something AMD?!?!Hard Drives (7200rpm)2 for images storage (one as an internal backup)1 For operating system, applications, music, etc1 For scratch disk Basically, the question comes down to whether extra cores or extra ram will ultimately make the biggest difference in the ACR performance During my testing on my (sad) currently system, here are my conclusions (let me know what you think):Changing the 3G switch to allow the jump from 2 to 3 gigs of ram usage for applications makes no difference in performanceWhen I am opening up ACR files both cores show 100% usage (will that continue over 4 or 8 cores?)Photoshop in general seems to be more CPU limited in my case than ram limited (most of the time is says 100% efficiency but things still take bloody long From some more experienced users, or users who have quad or octa core system or systems with insane amount of ram, I woudl really appreciate your feedback!

View 6 Replies View RelatedOutput sharpening in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and Photoshop CS5 I want to do two-pass sharpening - capture and output - with output capture done just before I print. I do the initial (capture) sharpening in the ACR Detail/Sharpening panel, with Amount slider set to, for example, 100. Then, I open the image to PS CS5 as a Smart Object, and use layers and masks for further editting.
My question is, can I go back to ACR for the final (output) sharpening pass? When I re-open the file in ACR, the Sharpening Amount slider is back to zero, but the other three sliders are still at the settings I used at the start of the process, i.e., the capture sharpening. If I again set the Amount slider to a positive value, then again open the image in PS for printing, will my second pass through the ACR Sharpening panel take effect - will it accumulate on top of the initial sharpening?
By the way, the reason I want do output sharpening in ACR rather than, say, PS Unsharp Mask, is so I can use the Masking slider in ACR, which is much easier than the comparable techniques available in PS. I am aware that some say you should not do any masking for the output sharpening. I'd like to though.
How can I open RAW files from my nikon D80 in photoshop CS version 8? At the moment I have to open and edit my RAW files through Nikon View NX and then convert the files to Jpeg, dump them in a folder and then re-open them as Jpegs in photoshop, how I can open them straight into photoshop, I really can't take this cross platform editing..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) with my Canon EOS 30D, an 8 MP camera, for a while now. I would make non-destructive changes to the raw file (.CR2) in ACR where the changes would be stored in an adjoining .xmp file. Jpegs of the unedited and edited camera raw files would be created so I have a before and after versions of the images that can be viewed anywhere.
Now I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, a 22 MP camera and the raw files are much larger. I’m looking at using camera raw on jpeg files for some for my more casual photo shoots in order to save disk space. From what I have read, I can use ACR on jpeg files and that the changes would be stored in the metadata in the jpeg file. Is there a way for the changes to be stored in an adjoining .xmp file so that the original jpeg file is not modified, much like it is done with the .CR2 files?
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 machine. All software is up-to-date.
Also, I have found that Adobe’s camera raw handing is different than the raw handling of the photos using Canon’s software (DPP). Is there a way to make ACR closer to what Canon’s software does?
I was trying to install Adobe Camera Raw 6.6 and it gives an error. The Adobe tech gave me a link to a newer version of ps. It installed fine and also acr 6.6 but it wants a serial number and I can't find it....

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I capture my images in RAW, when I open them in Adobe Camera RAW (via Elements 11), what information is displayed in the image and the histogram I see?
Is it showing me the jpeg created in the camera? If so, the jpeg settings in my camera are not only important in viewing the LCD and the histogram in my camera at the time of capture. They would also be important in viewing my image when it first opens in Adobe Camera RAW.
I just loaded PSE12 onto my computer yesterday and everything seemed fine. This morning an update came through for ACR 8.3 and it has been stalled at 99% for about 8 hours.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI really like Adobe Camera Raw. Is there a way to set the default open options to ACR? I'd like to particularly have jpgs and Tiffs open with ACR.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy doesn't Adobe Bridge download files from "get photos from camera", error message" Adobe Bridge CS6 cannot obtain files from this device. ensure that the device is connected properly,or that the battery is charged, and try again.
When I'm using a card reader that does not require batteries, is it because they are Leica DNG files??? I have managed to drag and drop instead but would prefer to use "get photos from camera".
I'm trying to create a timeline wherein the camera rotates in a circle around a 3d Object that is located at the origin of the Ground Plane. I click 3d Camera in the Timeline to create my beginning keyframe, I drag the time slider to the end of the timeline, and I Rotate the camera view around the Z (vertical central) axis of the ground plane. I have the caps lock on so that the ground plane stays perfectly level as I rotate.)
As I am rotating the 3d Camera, the entire scene appears to rotate around the Z axis at the origin of the ground plane, which is what I want the animation to look like, but this is not the scene that plays back. When I play back the scene by clicking the play button or dragging the time slider, it rotates off-axis around some other center of rotation, with my 3d object often rotating out of the scene.
I can open one JPEG at a time, or multiple Raw images in ACR.
Have checked other sources including Barbara Brundage "The Missing Manual" but whilst it does not specifically say you cannot, likewise there is no indication that you can.
I'm an amateur moving up to LR 3 and have been trying to learn this program by reading the LR3 book by Scott Kelby. He shows that the Camera Calibration feature has some settings for specific cameras yet the drop down menu has none listed. I've upgraded to 3.6 and the images were copied from raw to DNG.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nikon D7k which I have been shooting in RAW and converting using Adobe DNG converter 6.4 to process in Lightroom 2. (I have a G4 (PPC) Mac with OS 10.5.8. LR2 is the last version this Mac can run.) The converted files look rather poor and require substantial effort to achieve an acceptable result in LR. JPEGs look much better out-of-the-camera. I looked at some of the RAW files in Nikon ViewNX2 and they looked much, much better. Unfortunately, there is some sort of color space conflict with LR2 which I have been unable to resolve.
Any way other than shooting in JPEG, which I am presently doing, until such time as I get a new computer which will run the latest versions of LR and PS?
