Well I have a LandXML and I import the file into the SDB, it gives me line work but only Station Setups. I have no turned angles or points short of the Occupation Points. What is going on here. I have tested this in C3D12 on one PC C3D13 & 14 on another PC and have the same issue. However a co-worker imports to a student version of 12 using my template and gets points and lines.
View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently we have discovered a problem (bug?) with the survey database. We usually import our field data from our Trimble controllers into the survey database (SDB) through Trimble Link. We have been very careful to get all the survey database settings right, so that the data comes through correctly and have been successful up until the last few weeks. We find this a good workflow, where we are able to make edits to our field data (change target heights etc) easily in the SDB and comparisons with Trimble Business Center and direct output on-screen in the controller confirm that our data is reliable. We often have both GPS (long Network RTK vectors from the nearest network base station) and total station observations in the same file.
The issue is that, as the fbk file is imported, the survey database settings change to reflect the content of the fbk file. The "Atmospheric conditions" and "Curvature and Refraction" settings, which I have purposely left unticked (the controller applies these corrections), become ticked. This throws out our heights, especially on the long GPS lines.
We do have the option for a workaround, which involves going back into the Edit Survey Database Settings after import and updating the data in the sdb, but this is clumsy.
This seems to be similar to the issue that was discussed here. However, we have only just encountered this issue in the past month or two, which coincides with when we rolled out C3D 2012 Service Pack 4 across the office. We are planning on implementing 2014 soon, so I have tried it out on 2014 as well, with the same result.
Is this something that others are dealing with too? Perhaps there's some sneaky setting somewhere that I haven't found which locks down the SDB settings preventing them from being changed on import? Otherwise, I think this is a bug.
I am also bracing myself for some comments regarding the dangers of using GPS in the SDB!

What is the most expedient way to import multiple sites (surveys) into one Survey database?
Could you import into seperate networks or would you simply import into different point groups?
We are trying to establish multiple surfaces for one project. We are using 2010 & 2012.
Running C3d 2012 here, but haven't used prior versions. I'm using fieldbooks to import survey data. If there is an error of some kind and I "Re-import event" for the fieldbook, then the occupied points from the field book are deleted out of the survey database and I get the resulting error of "point invalid" during the import. My fix is to go into my control drawing and import the control points from the drawing into the survey database then run the "re-import" again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working on the AutoCAD customization and doing the same by VB.Net & C#.Net. But I just want to know the difference as mentioned below:
1. Insert Block In AutoCAD
Using VB.Net without using DataBase services..Only 1 statement is required to Insert the Block objAcadDocument.ModelSpace.InsertBlock(Required Arguments are here) Using C#.Net with DataBase services
There are many statments are there to insert only 1 block..Like Start Transaction, Lock the document, Get the Object Id Block etc...So my quetion is that when I have to use DataBase services and when not
what is the advantage of doing customization using DataBase services rather than go for wihout DataBase services.?
Is it possible to filter my database by EV bias ? (LR4.3)

View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently using Capture NX and looking for somthing little more featured. LR3 and Capture NX2 are on my list. I like Capture NX becuase I am one who likes to be in fulll control of my picture management. I download my NEFS to a folder, convert to JPEG and save them in another folder and then transfer the jpegs to manually created folders on a NAS. Will LR3 control me by creating and maaging it's own picture database or do I have the ability to manage pictures like I'm currently doing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week one of my Lightroom databases had a size of 400MB. After I installed some new hardware components last weekend I continued to work in that same database and three days later the size had increased up to 800MB. I didn't import any new images. I just worked on several files, added some Adjustment Brushes and created 1:1 previews for a small part of the images in this catalog.
What is causing this increase in file size? Which info is actually stored inside these lrcat-files? What about the History, where is that info stored? Can I create a new catalog from scratch and keep the settings and changes, using Export as Catalog?
Where in the SQLite database is the "Title" field? I have analyzed the database structure (after linking a copy of the LRCAT to MS-Access via ODBC), and found practically all fields of interest. I even managed to convert the shutter speed and aperture data (which are logarithmic) to useful values. But I did not find the "Title" field in the DB. I found that any entry made into "Title" is written into the picture file's EXIF data but I cannot believe that LR uses that as the only storage for the picture title.
Note: I do not use the database link to change any data in the LR database. I use this only to more effective browse through the picture data
PS: If the Title field is not currently in the LRCAT database I would suggest to add it. It does not make sense in my opinion to have 99% of the picture data inside LR, and rely on the picture file's EXIF data for one or two items.
I'm going on vacation and want to work on adding keywords, deleting unwanted pictures, and other organizing. s there a way to do this without copying all my pictures (not enough room on the laptop for that.). Lightroom 4.4

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis issue occured shortly after update to 4.2, but not directly after. I am using windows 8.
The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.
I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.
I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.
System is an Acer Aspire 7811 64 bits w/ Intel i7, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 GB internal mem and no external drives.
I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
I use Auto Import to import my RAW files. Each time LR imports my files the Previous Import count number increases. Is there a way to reset this count so it shows a true reflection of the photos from my previous import session?
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you manually import files the Previous Import count number resets itself automatically. I've Googled this problem & this question has been asked before - all users were utilising Auto Import.
I'm trying to import photos into LR3.3, and the thumbnails are grayed out, as is the import button. The photos come from two other cameras -- one Canon Elf, the other I'm not sure. I received them through dropbox, and they open fine with Bridge and Photoshop CS4.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of migrating from Aperture to LR4. I have exported the originals from Aperture and have them on my HDD.
My question now is do I import as a DNG? What are the benefits of this?
If I do import like this, am I duplicating all my images on my HDD?
Had version 4.2 working just fine until last week when it stopped importing. Program does not even show external drive in available folders. Bought LR5 and updated to version 5.2. Same problem. I can view from Windows Explorer or Irfan View. If I try to import from other source, I can see the folders but when I open the folder I get an error message that says no items match your search. I need to get this figured out as I'm a sports photographer and need to get 6 games processed and posted.

Documentation:
• LR-4: Download, 3/28/2012

i work almost 95% with canon raw files.
i don't convert to DNG.
LR4, allthough what i'm reffering to appears with all versions.
when i open the import dialog box, and going to the location of the CR2 files i would like to import, i see on screen a different version/look of the image than after import.
meaning, i see what i interpet as a "Jpeg" version of the CR2 file when i'm in the import dialog box.but when everything is imported into my catalog, when i look on the same file it looks much different. (both in library and develop)
i'm not applying any develop settings upon import.only my metadata and maybe a few keywords.
Is there a way that when first importing from the camera raw files, to see the image in the Import mode, rather than "No preview available"? This is when first starting the Import process. All.jpg files do have the image displayed so you can see what it is. Lightroom 3.5 Win 7 64-bit.

View 6 Replies View RelatedToday I went to LR4 and tried to import RAW CR2 files into the program using the usual import process which is pretty automatic. I also asked that copies be saved as DNG files. No matter what I tried, I got an error message saying that the files could not be imported. I use a Canon 5D Mark III. The only difference in today's shoot was that I used and HDSC card instead of a CF card. No other obvious changes. Clearly, this is a serious concern. What amI missing?
