AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Import CSV Files Into Database
Apr 25, 2013
I have imported csv files into my database but after closing the database and reopening I cannot import any more files. I can only import the events that I already brought in into the current drawing. Is this a common issue? How do you fix this?
Well I have a LandXML and I import the file into the SDB, it gives me line work but only Station Setups. I have no turned angles or points short of the Occupation Points. What is going on here. I have tested this in C3D12 on one PC C3D13 & 14 on another PC and have the same issue. However a co-worker imports to a student version of 12 using my template and gets points and lines.
Recently we have discovered a problem (bug?) with the survey database. We usually import our field data from our Trimble controllers into the survey database (SDB) through Trimble Link. We have been very careful to get all the survey database settings right, so that the data comes through correctly and have been successful up until the last few weeks. We find this a good workflow, where we are able to make edits to our field data (change target heights etc) easily in the SDB and comparisons with Trimble Business Center and direct output on-screen in the controller confirm that our data is reliable. We often have both GPS (long Network RTK vectors from the nearest network base station) and total station observations in the same file.
The issue is that, as the fbk file is imported, the survey database settings change to reflect the content of the fbk file. The "Atmospheric conditions" and "Curvature and Refraction" settings, which I have purposely left unticked (the controller applies these corrections), become ticked. This throws out our heights, especially on the long GPS lines.
We do have the option for a workaround, which involves going back into the Edit Survey Database Settings after import and updating the data in the sdb, but this is clumsy.
This seems to be similar to the issue that was discussed here. However, we have only just encountered this issue in the past month or two, which coincides with when we rolled out C3D 2012 Service Pack 4 across the office. We are planning on implementing 2014 soon, so I have tried it out on 2014 as well, with the same result.
Is this something that others are dealing with too? Perhaps there's some sneaky setting somewhere that I haven't found which locks down the SDB settings preventing them from being changed on import? Otherwise, I think this is a bug.
I am also bracing myself for some comments regarding the dangers of using GPS in the SDB!
Running C3d 2012 here, but haven't used prior versions. I'm using fieldbooks to import survey data. If there is an error of some kind and I "Re-import event" for the fieldbook, then the occupied points from the field book are deleted out of the survey database and I get the resulting error of "point invalid" during the import. My fix is to go into my control drawing and import the control points from the drawing into the survey database then run the "re-import" again.
I am using Civil 3d 2011 and i have about 200 landxml files that I need to import into my drawing. Is there an easier way of doing this besides importing them one at a time?
I wanted to import a shape file from GIS, but all contours elevations are 0. The attribute data on contours have ID elevation. How do I query those ID elevation to the contours?
how to import my 2006 ctb files into 2013. I found 2006 file thru options, file, plotter path. Copied to plotter path in 2013. It showed up but did not plot correctly.
I am trying to import a USGS DEM. The USGS DEMs come in two file formats: ArcGRID and GridFloat. How to transform these files so they can be imported into Civil3D? I tried SDTS2DEM and it's not working. Is there any other program I can purchase that will translate these file formats into DEMs Civil3D can read?
I have started a new project and would like to use the database table from a previous project with this one. Basically what I want to do is create a new shape file using the a previous database table so I do not have to create a whole new data base.
I have just installed Map3d 2012 on a new windows 7 machine and connect to data using oracle! I have some .layer files that are stored on my server which worked perfectly in 2011! The problem I have now is when I use Load layer from the task pane I receive an message that reads..
Failed to open FDO connection ORA-01005: Null password given: Logon denied
I can log in to my oracle database which gets rid of the error but no data is bought in! Also if I try to connect with query (polygon region on Map) from data connect (polygon region on Map) no data shown, just a red polygon where the data should appear!!
I have shp files and an external database file and I wish to merge the data from the External database to the Shp files OD table. They both have a column with entries matching so I figured I could use a Join to complete this. This is where I have run into difficulties.
I tried to import the spreadsheet using FDO but there is no XYZ data its just pure data. I added dummy XYZ data and tried again but I am unable to insert the data. the checkbox is greyed out, I select the Identity property to match the main title and it does not work.
I tried adding a new data source but I am unable to perform a join with this. right way to import the data from the excel sheet and add / merge the data to the FDO table created by the shp file.
I am working on the AutoCAD customization and doing the same by VB.Net & C#.Net. But I just want to know the difference as mentioned below:
1. Insert Block In AutoCAD
Using VB.Net without using DataBase services..Only 1 statement is required to Insert the Block objAcadDocument.ModelSpace.InsertBlock(Required Arguments are here) Using C#.Net with DataBase services
There are many statments are there to insert only 1 block..Like Start Transaction, Lock the document, Get the Object Id Block etc...So my quetion is that when I have to use DataBase services and when not
what is the advantage of doing customization using DataBase services rather than go for wihout DataBase services.?
I have a lot of photos in files and events in iPoto and Aperture. Would like to conso;idate all my photos inLightroom Master Photo file with those files and events as folders.
i have a point file specifically a PNEZD file. when i import points into the survey database the coordinate in the database is correct but the coordinate on the drawing tends to be 5 feet off one way and 1 foot off the other. When I import point through the points pull-down menu the coordinates are correctly shown. When I import point into survey database from drawing the coordinate is incorrect in the database but correct on screen.
How are you or your company managing points as in field shots, storage, dulplicate point numbers?
are you using vault? are you using the point database? are you using one drawing file to import and store the points?
what we are doing now is using the point database as a storage location but it fails for notification on when a point # is duplicated.
surveys has a drawing file they use to import, store and build the existing ground surface from the points. this allows the notification of when a point number is duplicated. but it is not as secure or flexable as the old LDD way.
We don't use field books just text files from the collectors imported in. Vault is not an option for us. (at this time)
so what i am looking for is how others are adapting to this change, and what worked or not.
I am running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010. I am a new user and just going through some tutorials and created a couple of survey databases for practice. The problem I am having is I can't figure out how to delete them. When I exit Civil 3D and restart it, those databases are still there under the survey tab in Toolspace even though I haven't even opened a drawing yet. Also, do I need MS Access installed on my workstation to run any functions within Civil 3D?
I have a drawing that is about a month old with survey data and a surface in it. I went in to modify the surface and noticed a crossing breakline message that was never addressed. I attempt to do a grip edit on the survey figure that is crossing ,and update the database from drawing and I get a message saying the figure is in not in the database. I know I have the correct database, because if I select the figure in the prospector tab It highlights the one I'm working with. Somehow the objects in the drawing have lost association with the database.
Any solutions short of re-inserting all my figures from the database? I'm not going to do that in this case since the edit was small and is already done.
I am trying to work on my figure database and have run into an issue I don't understand. Curious as to weather or not it's something I am doing, or just a bug.
I wanted to look at every possible line that could be imported so I created a dummy point file using the Figure prefix data base and imported it into one of my blank templates and ran into to curious issues.
Issue 1
CP is connecting to AA
Issue 2
OC only connects if the point has an identifier behind the OC, for example OC01.
Here is a copy of the figure database and point file I am using. I understand you will not have my layers, but the connectivity should be the same. Let me know if you need anything else.
Is there a way to "data shortcut" information imported from a data file into multiple drawings? If so, is there a way to lock the data points "in place" and not be able to adjust the point location/elevation, but allow the movement the text information around within the drawing.
The goal is to have multiple drawings with these data points and be able to move the text information from the style, but not (in a million years) be able to move the data point itself. There may be multiple drawings with these points located within them.
It started happening whenever I try to "create a new local surveydata base" in Civil 3d. After clicking OK the folder for the database gets created, but does not show up in the toolspace window. It does show up in windows explorer in the place which I had specified on the pc. I have just installed Civil3d 2014 on my pc and I still have Civil 3d 2012 on it as well. I get the same problem from each version.
I have a 64-bit Windows 7 computer that we are running Civil 3D 2013. We have attempted to create a survey database but get the attached .NET error.
Repairing the .NET throught Control Panel as well as running the Microsoft .NET Repair Tool. (After repairing the .NET we would get another error shown below)We have changed the UAC (User Account Control) for Windows 7We have also tried to find any .LDB for the database and did not find any Checked the folder settings which this user is an admin on his computerWe also created a survey database from other computers which are using WindowsXP 32bit and he was not able to access the database that way either Second error:
'DbProviderFactories' section can only appear once per config file error
I would like to remove certain points from my survey database. I have all the points that i want to remove queried into a point group. Is there a quick way to delete these from the database?
When I import Points (w/o Survey Database) that contain Point UDP's they come in just fine, (see attached). However, when I import those same Points thru the Survey Database it does not populate the addition UDP info on the Point Label (see attached). Why? I have created the Styles, Point File Format and I have even added data to Survey DB Extended Properties.
I am trying to rotate a database through translate survey database and after I input all of my info (rotation basepoint etc.) it is rotating all of the points no where near where they are suppose to be. I was experimenting with the command a bit using various rotation angles, and it seemed to work at first, but I got out of my drawing without saving and got back in and I tried to do it again using the same rotation base point etc. the location of the points are all out of whack now. Did I do something unintentionally to the points or do I maybe have to re-import the fieldbook?
I thought not saving the drawing would be a safe way to not save any of my translating....
