Lightroom :: 5.3 Crashes When Watching Video Over Remote Desktop On Windows 8.1

Feb 25, 2014

I am running Lightroom 5.3 and a fairly fresh install of Windows 8.1 / 64 bit. It works perfectly when I use my local machine, but when I access Lightroom over Microsoft Remote Desktop from another computer, as soon as I try to open a video, Lightroom crashes.

I have tried reinstalling, rebuildin library, etc. But, it still crashes every time. I'm pretty sure this is a bug with the software.

I use remote desktop for most of my lbrary management and it's really frustrating when it crashes all the time (note that it will crash often just if I go to to the video folder, even if I don't try to play one!)

VideoStudio :: Pro X5 - Video Format For Watching On PC

Feb 4, 2013

I've been creating video files in Pro X5 to upload to Vimeo. They are fine but I wondered if I could create a better quality format to watch on my laptop e.g. in terms of Kbps etc. The files are:

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 5000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

They are created from source files which are:
PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 16:9, 25 fps
Lower Field First
Matrox DV/DVCAM -- type 2
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

What would be the best format quality for a laptop? I tried 20,000 Kbps and 256 Kbps sound for the heck of it but the laptop struggles to play them.

Photoshop :: Remote Desktop

Apr 13, 2009

I use Remote Desktop quite a bit to login to my computer and use programs installed on there.  A frequent one is Adobe Photoshop.  When I do my work in Remote Desktop everything works great, but when I'm actually at home on my pc it loads everything and the splash screen goes away and then all of a sudden it has "Photoshop CS4 has stopped working" error.

It turns out it is doing this with all of my adobe products.  I am using Vista 32-Bit and all the products are CS4.  One more thing I noticed is if I open Photoshop in remote desktop then login to my computer I can use it without error.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Cannot Remote Desktop When 3GB Switch Is Enabled

Mar 8, 2011

I work for a large enterprise that has many machines(all the same) that have Inventor 2010 with the 3GB switch enabled. However, when a user tries to remotely connect the machine with the switch enabled, using Windows RDC, they are unable to. After removing the switch, the user is able to remote successfully. Other forums suggested that the "SessionImageSpace" in the registry needed to be edited to allow for the connection, but that did not work for me.

Lightroom :: Windows 7 Desktop - Sync Catalog And Previews To Notebook

Apr 27, 2013

I primarily use LR on a win7 desktop. Several 100 gigs of images. I have a win7 notebook. I can't store the images because of disk space. But is it possible to have the catalog and previews synced to the notebook, so I could say show someone full screen previews? I know you can't go to the develop module. And until LR smart previews works with my existing catalog, I'd like to know how, and if I would be able to view full screen from the catalog not connected to a harddrive with the original files?

Lightroom :: 5.3 Crashes In Windows 8.1

Mar 18, 2014

I recently upgraded my laptop to one with Windows 8 (not because of Windows).  The File Manager program does not work on my laptop, so I've had to install a third party file management app.  Does Lightroom integrate with the Windows app because whenever I try to manage files in Lightroom (plug-in manager, publishing services, import destination) the program crashes.  I can't install any plug-in's or add any new folders to my export settings.

Lightroom :: 5 Crashes When Selecting A Video?

Dec 29, 2013

finally deduced it was when I clicked a video for flagging.  I removed the videos from the catalog but that defeats the purpose.  I tried the ui.dll and did rename the ui.dll.old file.  I unstalled and reinstalled LR5 and update to 5.3.  Its working now but like I said I removed the video.

issue was when I put in the ui.dll then LR would not even open up  so effectively I did not do the ui.dll because I couldnt,.  I did it successfully for lr3 when I had the edit/flagging crashes without issue  this is weird.

Photoshop :: Workstation Or Desktop Video

Jun 13, 2013

My new Dell U2713H is on its way, and I need a new video card to take advantage of it. I work mainly with Photoshop and Illustrator, with a little bit of Video and 3D. No games whatsoever.

How much video memory do I need? When I look at the Nvidia Quadro series, there's a big jump in price from entry-level to mid-level, but only the mid-level has 2GB. For desktop cards, even some of the lower-end ones have 2GB. Would the extra memory be good for working with image stacks and panorama stitching?

For the more expensive desktop cards, are you mostly paying for enhanced gaming capabilities, or would it be a general overall improvement in performance?

Most of the reviews I see for workstation cards are oriented towards people who do do a lot of 3D. Like I said, I don't do a lot, but I do some. Would something like a Quadro K600 give me a performance boost in Photoshop? Or might I be just as happy with a lower-mid-range desktop card?

I cannot seem to install Photoshop 5.0.2 on my new Windows 8 desktop computer.  I push the install button from the cd and it does nothing.  I tried copying and pasting the old installed program onto my desktop and filling in the necessary dll files that it requested.  That seemed to work until I tried to print something.  Although the program recognizes the correct printer and sets up pages etc., it will not print, and tells me that there is a disk error.  What to do?

cannot find a way to create a pdf and saving it into a desktop.  Basically, in the -plot command, there should be an option to allow it to save to C:documents and settings"username"desktopfilename.pdf"

See the command line used:

(COMMAND "-PLOT" "Y" "" "DWG to PDF.pc3" "30 x 42" "Inches" "Landscape" "No" "Extents" "1=1" "CENTER" "Yes" "Fullsize.ctb" "yes" "No" "No" "No" "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Desktop\Filename.pdf" "N" "Y")

The objective is to allow the lisp to plug in whichever username and automatically creating a pdf based on the filename.

Photoshop :: CS6 Crashes Windows 8

Apr 19, 2013

I just got a brand new Dell XPS8500 with Windows 8 2 days ago and installed CS6, and I'm having problems with Photoshop crashing, Indesign has also crashed a few times.

Photoshop seems to be working for a few minutes and then crashes, and just says that it has encountered a problem and needs to close, no further explanation. It looks like my Windows is up to date, but when I try to download Adobe updates it says "The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily or the internet or firewall settings may be incorrect". I didn't think there would be updates, I only installed 2 days ago.

Photoshop :: CS6 Crashes On Windows XP Computer

Nov 27, 2012

Recently installed and then updated Photoshop CS6 Extended - "About" says Version 13.0.1 x32.

Sometimes Photoshop comes up and I can use it, but then I get a Windows XP error"bark," with no error message or error dialog.  Once that happens I can no longer open or edit or save images. Other times it will not completely start up.

The "universal" Microsoft Windows "fix," a re-boot of the computer makes the problem go away, until it happens again. I have made sure that there are no errors in the registry with  Norton Utilities. Windows XP is up to date.

Is there an error log someplace that Photoshop issues? All other apps on the computer seem to work fine.

Photoshop :: CS5 (under Windows 7) Crashes When Try To Print?

Feb 17, 2012

I am running 64-bit Photoshop CS5 Extended upgraded to current version (12.0.4).

When I try to print, every single time, I get the following error immediately:

> Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem

and then shortly after

> Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Quite infuriating. My printer works fine. I can print photos to it from Lightroom no problem (which, in this occasion, I had to do - saved from PS, imported to LR, then printed... very efficient!!).

I note there are other posts on this but they seem to be mostly Mac and also many seem to cure by upgrading to 12.0.4.

I am a relatively light user (keen amateur not professional) so I don't use PS regularly. However this also means it is pretty much an out-of-the-box install since I don't tinker with it either. It's so long since I last used it I can't remember if I had this problem last time - I vaguely recall having had it sometimes but not others. Doesn't seem to matter whether the file I opened is a JPG or a PSD (the only two I have tried).
