I am using version CS6, I would like to know if there is an easy way to import a MS word document into InDesign. The document is about 1000 pages and contains text, images and tables.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have text in a frame with a table in it, connected to a Word file. Every time I try to copy text in it, InDesign goes into a loop while it refers back to the original file. It does it a bunch of times, I assume (but don't know) once for every row in the table. The loop takes three or four minutes to complete and there's nothing I can do until it's finished... I want to break that link and just have it as a normal text box, rather than a placed one. How do I do that?

I am placing a Word document into InDesign CS6, and no matter what options I choose in the import options, the font styles are not imported into InDesign At the same time, InDesign CS3 imports all the styles perfectly from any Word file.
Is there a non-buggy way to convert an Indesign file into a word file?

Is there any way for me to manually update PS by downloading updates to my laptop and then transferring them to my new PC. I know I can do that with ACR, but cannot find any information on doing it with other updates.
Sometimes I can manually set the x & y coordinates, and sometimes I can't: I change the number from say 54.0001 to 54, and Illustrator changes it back to 54.0001. Or, more commonly, it will not allow me to specify a float when the coordinate is an integer ( 54 -> 54.1 ).
The layours/shapes are not locked and I disabled all snapping options (snap to grid, snap to point, snap to guide). Why does it decide to work sometimes and not others?
Also, why, even when I have all the snaps enabled, does Illustrator insist on setting coordinates to a float that is JUST off of what it should snap to? Say I have a Guide and the left side of Shape A at x-coord 60; Illustrator absolutely refuses to align the right side of Shape B to x-coord 60 when dragging. Instead it decides 59.9897 is better. Both shapes are simple, are solid/filled, and have no stroke or effect/filter.
Even if I select Shape A and Shape B (Shape B is a copy of Shape A) and use the align palette (specifying Shape A is the key object), it will still set the x-coord of Shape B to 59.9897 instead of 60. WHY?
I noticed Illustrator setting erroneous/illogical xy coords since CS3 (it might have existed earlier), but I've always been able to force the x-coord manually to be the position I want; until now.
Instead of Photoshop, et al using my Win7 x64 ICC monitor profile, I would like to set it manually, as I'm able to do in other applications. Is this possible?
The reason why is that I have a Dell U3014 and using the software that comes with it, I want to use its sRGB mode (and an associated sRGB profile from my Spyder 4 set as my Windows default) for all of my regular apps, and AdobeRGB mode (and profile) for my CS and other color-aware apps. My other apps DxO, PhotoMechanic, Canon SLR apps, etc. let me choose the profile.
Prior to seeing or reading the bright red warning of not trashing the beta, it was done.
Now CS6 won't install. Says an earlier version is on the machine.
Which specific files must be uninstalled to allow the CS6 installation?
While editing two very similar photos and using the CS6 auto-tone command, one of the photos photoshop was able to truly fix up while the other barely changed. Here is the example:
Photo A was very blue and dark; the auto-tone command magically fixed it up to have nice color variation in the rock and made it brighter. Here is the before/after:
On the other hand, photo B didn't work out the same way; the auto-tone command barely did anything, even though I thought both photos looked to have very similar problems (blue, dark, etc). Here are the links to the full original photo A and photo B in case they are useful...
how can I achieve on photo B the same effect that auto-tone did for photo A! Is there any way to find out what adjustments auto-tone made?
In contrast to version PSPPX3, the new PSPX4 has implemented a tool that will remove all necessary keys and folders from your system. It works on all supported systems without problems.
follow the description below if you want to remove PSPX4 from your system.
How to remove PSPX4
Go to Start - Control Panel - Add and remove (XP) / Programs and Features (Vista, Windows 7) and remove PSPX4.
Restart the system if you want to reinstall it.
Additional note: No further action is required. Using other uninstall tools is neither good nor necessary.
My problem is My PSP X2 stopped working so I tried a repair all to no avail ..I then tried removing it via windows add and remove which it said it had done ..I then tried reinstalling it But a message came on the screen saying I already had PSP X2 installed on my computer still? I then used Revo unistaller program which found I still had it on my computer and which removed it (according to Revo) and again I tried to do a fresh install only to yet again get the message I had PSP X2 installed ..So somewhere in my computer PSP resides

I have just purchased Photoshop CS6 and ran the updater from within Photoshop. I know some of the updates worked but not all. So I ran it again 3 or 4 attempts now have failed with this message:-
It has failed to install -
Extension Manager 6.0.6 Update
with the error message -Installation failed. Error Code: U44M1P7
I have found a solution on the forum- Download and install the updates manually. Go to [URL]...updates and download the update that you are trying to install. There is no update available there which refers to Extension Manager 6.0.6 Update
I opened the Adobe Application Manager and run it for updates, it reports I'm good - no updates! But when I then try for an update from within Photoshop I still get the same message telling me I need to instal ExtensionManager 6.0.6 UpdateI have tried to find the error log from within my system - but failed misserably (I am on Windows 7-64)
where do I go from here? Do I need Extension Manager? What does it do? Is it vital I install this update?
In PS CS2 I used to manually align 3 images in Photomerge to make a triptych (not a panorama). I can't figure out how to do this in CS6. Do I need to work with a tool other than Photomerge?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Photoshop action that, amongst other things, performs various fill-type operations on parts of an image. I want to run the action on a number different images, but I need to select different parts depending on the image.
Is there a way that I can manually position the cursor (i.e pick the correct area to process) while running the action? Or do I have to break the action up into shorter actions and do the fills manually in between?

If you were to manually enter a traverse in 2012 how would you do it? I mean:
1. Set up on a known point
2. Backsight a known point
3. Move the setup a few times
4. Foresight a known point (either the same BS point above - closed - or another known point - closed connected)

I'm doing a revision rearrangement and would like to add to the BOM New, Existing, and Relocated properties. The problem is that each individual component may be unique. Ie. I have a desk w/ 3 identical monitors. One monitor is existing and the others are new. I'd like to have the BOM show that I have 3 monitors, 2 are new and 1 is existing. The BOM would have 4 columns, one for the total number of parts and 3 for the New, Existing, and Relocated counts.
I don't mind if the new columns need to be manually updated.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have difficulties using Cloth : Some years ago I had less problems with Cloth but my characters were much taller than real characters, 2 or 3 meters high for example. Now, I have decided to use realistic sizes for my characters, hoping it would improve the result with Cloth, but it is the contrary. With my new characters, 1 unit = 1 centimeter and it is almost impossible to have a perfect result. I was wondering if it is possible to move manually some vertices within Cloth after the simulations for correcting the inaccuracies.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA have AutoCad 2000. I have made a 3D wireframe drawing of a boat hull by drawing each "wire" individually. Most of the surface of the hull is curved in two directions. The drawing is made of some straigt lines, polylines, elipses and circles and many arcs and splines. Snap is used everywhere so all lines connects together where they should do.
The problem I have is the drawing is difficult to view as the lines that should be hidden is not hidden. I can't find any way to do this. I have played with the 2D, 3D wireframe, with render, shaded etc. But I cant find any way to do it.
Is it not possible to hide the (what should be) invisible parts of a manually drawn up 3D wireframe drawing?
I have a map. I would like to remove small islands without having to rub them all out manually (its a very big map).
I'm not too bothered about the criteria for selecting small islands - I would just like to specify an approximate threshold diameter or something.
The sea is one uniform color. And this color doesn't appear on land. Sort of like a noise removal filter, but I don't want the coastline of surviving islands to be smudged. I.e. islands that are not removed must not be touched and the removed islands must be removed completely.
I have tried selecting all the sea and then growing the selection to swamp small islands and then shrinking the selection again but this didn't work very well.
See attachment to clarify. I have colored islands that I would like to get rid of in red (very roughly). This is part of the full image. The actual image has just water round the boundary (no land touches the image edges) (Also there are some islands within lochs - ideally these would be selected also, but the majority are within the sea,)
