How to draw along a path I created. But everything that I've found seems to be telling me to use the "Stroke Path" tool. But I don't want the program to actually draw the line for me. It doesn't provide the same style as if it was done by hand.
Is there any way to 'lock' my cursor along a path I created so that I can draw along it manually?
I use GIMP 2.6.8 - when I switch to "path" tool or to "free select tool" mouse pointer is allowed to set vertices of the path or selection on non-integer coordinates (i.e. at x=13.5 and y=26.8 pixels)
How can I disable this feature and make mouse pointer (or vertex) snap to pixel boundary (or even to grid). I want it to be able to create paths / selections more accurately sometimes.
(or could I at least enter coordinates for each next vertex manually)
I have some drawing files that I keep on synchronizing manually everytime I open them just to show the EG, FG and Pipes properly to my profile view. I've already checked everything that could possibly cause this problems like name of my shortcuts, their location etc. etc. ...some of my files worked just fine so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong with some that has this problem. Im using C3D 2012.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a map. I would like to remove small islands without having to rub them all out manually (its a very big map).
I'm not too bothered about the criteria for selecting small islands - I would just like to specify an approximate threshold diameter or something.
The sea is one uniform color. And this color doesn't appear on land. Sort of like a noise removal filter, but I don't want the coastline of surviving islands to be smudged. I.e. islands that are not removed must not be touched and the removed islands must be removed completely.
I have tried selecting all the sea and then growing the selection to swamp small islands and then shrinking the selection again but this didn't work very well.
See attachment to clarify. I have colored islands that I would like to get rid of in red (very roughly). This is part of the full image. The actual image has just water round the boundary (no land touches the image edges) (Also there are some islands within lochs - ideally these would be selected also, but the majority are within the sea,)
Why the "Text along path" feature hovers the text so far above the currently active path? (in my case, the space between the path and the text is about 3 times the height of the currently used font!). I've been told that the letters should lie on top of or at least closer to the path instead. How can I move the text closer to the path?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.
I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.
I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..
I'm working on a graphic in which I wish to have some text around a circle. I know, I know, use "Text to Path" ... except that will not work in this case because the text I want to have go around the circle is not from a font, but drawn by me (my other other project; find a program for creating font files that I can afford to make a proper font so "Text to Path" would work).
So, I have a selection (and a path from that selection) that is basically the outline of the text I want to manipulate. I have another selection for the circle the text is supposed to go around. What is the (probably obvious) thing that I'm missing to get the text selection path to be drawn on the circle?
I need creating a 3D autocad drawing of an embankment. I want to extrude the 2D drawing along a curved path. I can create this drawing , when the slope of the embankment is the same. But when the slope of the embankment will vary.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just installed AutoCAD 2006 on a new PC, and for a while everything seemed fine. However when I save a drawing it comes up with the following:
Unable to save to drawing (path and filename).
Drawing saved to (path)savAE01.tmp
It allows me to saveas without a problem.
If I come out of AutoCAD and try to open the file I attempted to save, it is visible in the file list, but a message pops up saying:
Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exists.
I can rename the .tmp file to a .dwg file and it opens, but then if I try to qsave it, the same thing happens.
I have a series of drawings created in AutoCad Electricla 2012.
Each drawing has a raster image attached with a path from a different computer.
When I try to edit the drawing or re-reference the iamge path, the program crashes.
I've tried saving the drawings down to an earlier version 2007/2010.
I am trying to insert a block (using .Net) that does not already exist on the drawing. It is on a network share, which is in the search path. If I, from the command line insert the block, it finds it ok and inserts it. But when I do this from .Net code it does not search for the block. So how do you get it to search for the block and insert it?

I under stand about creating a path making it visible etc but i cant use the add selection tool nor does my text options include the button to text along path i read a post on a video some one mentioned a plugin i tried to find the plugin and could not getting extremely upset . I've finally done it, but it's going along the wrong part of the circle - I want it to go along the top and it's part way round - and I can't seem to find a way to move it along. I've tried several times but it does the same thing each time.
Also the text isn't showing in the right font, although it is in the text box. Am I missing something?

In PS, there is the ability to stroke inside, along the middle, or outside of the path.
How, in GIMP, can I select where the stroking occurs?
I've created a complicated polygon (hundreds of nodes) with the Paths Tool and am trying to fill it. When I select the Bucket Fill Tool, I get a tiny little error message at the bottom that reads: "Cannot modify the pixels of layer groups". Now then, I do have a Layer Group in the Layers tab to collect text items, but this is a Path in the Paths tab (which I thought was separate).
I have tried switching the path from Stroke to Selection, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
In the past, I've used Fireworks (mainly), Photoshop, and Illustrator with varying degrees of success.
I just downloaded GIMP 2.8 for Max Snow Leopard. I like a lot of the new features, particularly being able to use the one window feature.
I'm having some challenges with Text along path. I found it under the context menu okay. However, when I use it, only part of the words I'm trying to put on the selected path show up. I was using three words that amount to a total of 20 letters. The last half of the last word is getting cut off. I've tried several different things to no avail.
j pgs can contain paths info. In Photoshop you'll be able to get that path.
We use it a lot for packshots, this way we can save a JPG, but with an embedded outline Path, this way you'll always be able to "cut out" the packshot by selecting the path.
It does not work with gimp .
Is there documentation on using the 'text along a path' command for gimp 2.8?
The documentation that exists ... [URL] ....shows the path tool in the tool box but I dont have this button. Is this documentaion out of date?
I found somewhere saying that 'text along a path' has been moved to the text context menu but I cant figure out what this context menu is supposed to be.
When I choose Open Drawing and the window pops up, it would be nice if the full path name of the file showed up on the bar where it shows the file name (see attachment). As it is I can't tell if this file is on my c drive or my back-up drive.
The individual drawings show the full path name once they're open, can the same be achieved with the Open Drawing window?
In Civil 3D 2012, if you enable the option of "Display full path in title" under the Options --> Open and Save --> File Open area, the active drawing name and path displayed in the Tittlebar is not correct?

A co-worker asked how to display the full drawing path in the window header. He said that it used to, now doesn't. I have never seen the full path of the drawing in the header before. Mine just says "AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 (Drawing File Name) [Project Folder]"
I checked in Options, but didn't see anything.
Is there a way to link the path of the survey data base in the drawing, so I do not have to set the working folder every time?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a script for my company that sets up templates for internal use. I've been able to get most of it completed by drawing basic pathItems and textFrames. The problem I face now is adding our company logo. In the scripting reference I've found examples of duplicating art from one document to another, but that isn't what I need here.
I've approached this by trying to select our company logo in an existing document and in some way capturing the pathPoints so I can use them in the the script that is setting up the templates.However I've not had much luck with this. Ideally everything will be self contained in the one script, so that external files aren't required.
