AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Drawing Files Keeps On Synchronizing Manually
Nov 26, 2012
I have some drawing files that I keep on synchronizing manually everytime I open them just to show the EG, FG and Pipes properly to my profile view. I've already checked everything that could possibly cause this problems like name of my shortcuts, their location etc. etc. ...some of my files worked just fine so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong with some that has this problem. Im using C3D 2012.
I was wondering if there is a setting somewhere that can be turned on to display the manual points I am creating as I create them instead of having to go back and update the point group before they display in the drawing?
I have found recently that surfaces that are sampled in profile views are not synchronized when the drawing is opened. This is incredibly frustrating when I'm just opening a file to plot a new copy. If I forget to resynchronize the drawing, the sampled profiles will not plot.
I have a file that looks like it is going to open nice and fast and then it gets stuck at 50% synchronizing references. It literally takes over 5 minutes for the file to come completely up and ready to work on.
In the file I have an existing ground surface data reference and two corridors (with alignments, profiles and profiles views) that are basic access roads roughly 1200' long each with a very basic assembly. I also have a pipe network data referenced that is just a bunch of pipes that represent existing utilities crossing the access road so I can show them in cross sections. The final thing I have in here are 50' cross sections for each of these access roads.
why does it take me 5+ minutes to get into this file?
I have some storm sewer alignments that I've put into profiles in C3D 2011. The pipe network that I used to create the alignments from is a reference created from a data shortcut. I've created profiles of these storm sewer alignments, and the station labels for the storm structures are displayed at question marks until I go into the structure properties for each structure and link it to the correct alignment.
The problem is that whenever I synchronize my data shortcuts because someone has updated something, all of the links in each structure to the alignments disappears and I am back to? for my stations in the profiles and I have to go go fix it again. how to keep this from breaking?
I do see this recent message [URL] that appears to be a similar problem, but it was said in that thread that this problem was introduced with C3D 2012, but I am using C3D 2011.....
How to draw along a path I created. But everything that I've found seems to be telling me to use the "Stroke Path" tool. But I don't want the program to actually draw the line for me. It doesn't provide the same style as if it was done by hand.
Is there any way to 'lock' my cursor along a path I created so that I can draw along it manually?
I have noticed that a file is xrefed much faster if the file has been opened at some point. (Wtih the file I tested with it was 45 sec vs 1,5 sec) This must mean that the file is cached and can very quickly opened later if it has been opened.
I have an application that xref other files as overlay xref's. This is very slow since the xrefed files haven't been opened. And it will be this slow every time i xref them since they are never opened. Is there a way I can cache the files manually or something like that?
Survey database is open for edit, drawing displays survey points and figures from imported survey data files. When I try to use _AeccCreatePointManual, after selecting a location, entering a description and elevation, no point is created. The command appears to complete and gives no error but no point shows up in the drawing or survey database. Default layer is <use current>.
These 8 points are for 4 sampling locations with 2 depths for each sampling location. I used AutoCAD 2012 a little bit before and I am new in using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013. What are the key steps and tips of using the values of XYZ-coordinates listed the above-mentioned table to input manually into the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 program. Note: 4 sampling locations are in the 4 corners of a square lot and the 8 points should look like 8 corners of a box.
Is there a way to create a surface by manually selecting the points instead of creating a point group? I survey stockpiles for a local construction company and calculate volumes for them.
There may be 50 piles on one site and it would be a lot easier to create a surface by selecting the points manually instead of creating so many point groups.
Is it possible to create manual points from a cross section.
For example, I want to create a surface from a sketched (hand drafted) proposed cross section by clicking on the different points on my cross section and having a point created in my plan view.
I am working with an ancient engineer who swears by hand drawing data into the cross sections, and then wants me to produce proposed contours based on this data. I am trying to get out of writing down the Station, offset, and elevation, and then manually creating points and having to type in the offset and elevation again.
Stuck on Civil 3d 2011 (until the end of this construction season)
I was trying to edit a corridor surface manually by editing points and tin lines but for me its much easier to edit the contours itself so I explode the surface into polylines and fix the contour issues but when i make it into a new surface the Surface does not look clean anymore. When I look at it in the object viewer it looks rough and jagged and doesn't look like a road at all, however my original corridor surface did look clean with perfect roads and cul de sacs i just wanted to fix the contours outside the road. I tried extracting it like i should have done in the first place but when i add the contours to a surface it still looks ugly and jagged. Another thing is that when you look at it in 2D or plan view the contours look exactly the same but when i look at it from a perspective view or 3D that's when you see the difference.
I have a job where some one has manually written valves into the titleblock fileds that should be coming from sheetset manager is there a way to reinsert the titleblock and have the fields come back.
So I've got a couple thousand PSD documents that need to be manually cropped down to best encompass the subject. Since I am unable to find a script that simply opens up the next document in the folder and I would have to manually find the next file each time (remember that files are unselected in Finder after having been saved), which would prove to be quite tedious.
I have been using the sheet set manager with very few problems for years until - you guessed it - I was upgraded to Windows 7 OS v6.1 and Civil3D 2012 IDS.
Up until then, I was able to open layouts in different drawing files through the sheet set manager while in an open file. Now, I get an error message (see attached) and have to close the file I'm in to open the other.
I can open files through the regular file open command and have more than one open at the same time, but it takes away the convenience of using the sheet set manager to avoid having to browse to the desired sheet layouts when copyclipping sheet layout drawing elements from one file to another.
I have studied every sheet set system variable to see if that was the problem, but could not find an answer. I have the same problem in Civil3D 2010. It happens to new and existing sheet sets in both versions and sheet sets made before the Windows update.
I mad e the mistake of creating my corridors for a large site in the same drawing, and now I would like to pull them apart into individual drawing files for each corridor. I thought that last time I tried it, the drawings or data somehow got corrupted. I am running C3D 2009.
I am issues with DEM files that I am downloading from the USGS website.I download 24k, elevation for the area I need. I then choose staged 1 second, add a surface to a blank drawing, then upload the DEM files to the surface.
The surface imports correcty, but when I try to import points taken by a surveyor on the same drawing, they plot incorrectly. The DEM surface and the points from the surveyor do not correspond. Also, the DEM surface is in meters, not feet. I have tried changing drawing settings, datum types, coordinate types, etc.
I have 4 computers sharing tool palettes on a network. Whenever a user updates the palette with a new block, he has to export the .xtp file on the network and every other users has to reimport the palette in order to see the changes.
We're in the middle of a big clean up since we just got our new Autocad 2011 license and the palettes change pretty much every day, whenever we find time to reorganize it.
Is there a way to skip the export/import part when modifying a tool palette? I mean we are all using the file on the network right, so why doesn't it update on modification? At first I thought the palettes would update on startup, at least, but it seems that every single user has to export first and then import the .xtp file every morning or so.
It feels like once the palette on the network has been imported, the modifications we apply on the said palette are local, as if autocad would copy the one on the network instead of running it live, which makes it harder to keep it synchronized on every machine.
there's a way to work around that export/import sequence and get this whole palette thing to work in sync.
Recently upgraded to Civil 3D 2013 and drawings opened up fine. Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.
According to Windows Explorer (and other software) I have over 50,000 graphic files, yet Lightroom will only catalogue about 35,000. One folder for example shows up in Lightroom as having 35 files, Explorer says 394. I try Synchronise and it initially reports "Import new photos 357". Then it reports "Import in progress", then "no files found"!
I try Import and all the photos in that folder are shown greyed out with nothing to import.I tried building a new catalogue but that didn't work. It imported around 35,000 of them only. A second run imported a few more but there are still around 15,000 missing fro the LR catalogue
I using the Trial version of VisualStudio X5. I am wondering if there's a "best" way of synchronizing two different videos of the same event. Example: Say I have one camera that is of someone shooting a rifle. The other camera is of the target impact. Now say I want the video to show this person shooting the rifle, with the target impact shown in a smaller window superimposed on the main video. What is the best way to make sure the two videos are in sync with each other?
After installing LR4 I imported the PSE10 catalog. No problems. But when I later import more pictures into PSE - is it possible to add these pictures automatically to the LR catalog without importing the pictures once more? Or do I have to import the same pictures once more into LR and therefore have to copies of each new picture in two different folders - one for PSE and one for LR? So far I don't think the auto import will work, because as far as I understand
1)all the new pictures that PSE saved then will be moved to another folder and therefore will be missing afterwards, and
My images won't always sync. Basically I loaded images into Lightroom 4.1 using the auto tone feature. What I'm attempting to do is simply copy my settings from one image with exposure and contrast both set to "0" then syncing them to the rest of my images. (700+) I like the auto tone for sahdows/highlights, and white/blacks, obviously the exposure has been the issue with auto tone. However I find when i can start with my exposure and contrast at 0 this gives me a great starting point. But it won't sync all of them.
When a separate-system sound is used, how can it audio be synchronized with audio that is recorded on-camera? Is there a tutorial, procedure or technique to easily synchronize audio tracks from audio recorder into a video that already has audio?
My Architecture office is using Mac Pro's with OSX and Parallels to run Windows 7 and Revit 2011. We are having issues with getting everyone to be able to work synchronize to the Central File. If one workstation (workstation 1) intially creates the Central File, puts it on the server then creates a local from the Central File they have no issue when synchronizing to Central. However if another workstation (workstation 2) creates their own Local File it does not synchronize to central, it tries and an error of "File Failed to Save" pops up everytime.
The Central File location is the same on both workstations (ex. \psfFirmProjectsActive ProjectsProject# and nameConstruction DocumentsDrawingsCentral File Name}.
We have also turned off all antivirus and firewalls to elimnate that as an access issue.
how we may be able to get everyone working with Local Files, and Synchronizing to Central?
I'm trying to synchronize "Noise reduction" settings on a set of 952 photos (which are actually smart previews), using LR 5.2, and after I click apply I get the following error:
An internal error has occurred: <AgErrorID>10003</AgErrorID>
I have tried with only 3 photos selected and it worked fine. But it seems LR is not properly handling the large number of photos.
