So I've got a couple thousand PSD documents that need to be manually cropped down to best encompass the subject. Since I am unable to find a script that simply opens up the next document in the folder and I would have to manually find the next file each time (remember that files are unselected in Finder after having been saved), which would prove to be quite tedious.
View 6 RepliesI am trying to batch convert several thousand TIFF files to lossless JPEG-2000, but I can't get it to work.
When I open a single file and "Save as" JPEG-2000 with the lossless option checked, the result is truly lossless. But when I record this as an Action and then Automate/Batch this action, the output is not saved as lossless.
"Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document."
I've gotten this message a couple of times this week. I can see the image(s) in bridge I have tried renaming them in case something was off. .psd no spaces I saved them in photoshop CS 6 running Mac 10.8.5 and now magically I can not open certain files and I am at a loss why this is happening. They are large layered files that represent hours of work. I've tried opening from both bridge and photoshop.
p.s. I can open the file in Apple's Preview however no layers and I need to be able to work in photoshop
most of my crops are set for custom. i want an 8x10 print. if i change the aspect ratio from custom to 4.5/8x10 it screws up my crop completely. that means that i cannot upload to an online website, be printed automatically and have it come out the way it want. but can that custom crop image be printed 8x10 manually?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy sisters photo collection is a total mess without any rational system to it. Its just illogical structured with folders with generic keywords and thousands of files within each folder. For example, there it's a folder called "travel" where she has just dumped thousands of single files from 10 years of vacations. Not the mention the "various" and "misc" folders.
What I am trying to do: It does seem like all the photos have the correct EXIF data on them though. So what I'm looking to do is to restructure the collection in folders (with dates taken from EXIF) in a manner similar to this:
"/various/filename.jpg" ---> "/2012_06_25/filename.jpg"
"/friends/filename.jpg" ---> "/2012_05_01/filename.jpg"
and so on.
At least then it gets some kind of chronological structure to it. I want to physically organize the files, not organize them through a database.
What is the best approach for doing something like this? I guess I could just batch rename everything from the exif data with Bridge and then organize it from there - but this will still be very tedious. There must be a better way (any PS/Bridge scripts that can do this? The more automated the better. I use Bridge and I dont have LR - but if LR can do this it *might* be whats finally pushing me to buy it.
I have some drawing files that I keep on synchronizing manually everytime I open them just to show the EG, FG and Pipes properly to my profile view. I've already checked everything that could possibly cause this problems like name of my shortcuts, their location etc. etc. ...some of my files worked just fine so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong with some that has this problem. Im using C3D 2012.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that a file is xrefed much faster if the file has been opened at some point. (Wtih the file I tested with it was 45 sec vs 1,5 sec) This must mean that the file is cached and can very quickly opened later if it has been opened.
I have an application that xref other files as overlay xref's. This is very slow since the xrefed files haven't been opened. And it will be this slow every time i xref them since they are never opened. Is there a way I can cache the files manually or something like that?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not well versed in color matching so I use an application called Color Wheel Expert to help me choose matching colors and what not. For awhile I've tried to figure out how I can accomplish the same sort of thing simply using Photshop's color Palette/Picker, but haven't been able to figure it out.
Is there a simple way to determine a color's complement, triad, etc while selecting a color? What about getting 'shades' of a particular color? I know you just add white to get shades, but how do you accomplish that inside the color picker?
No matter what, when I crop an image, even just the tiniest amount off of the edges my files are shrinking drastically. If I don't touch the file with cropping, it doesn't shrink when I save. So it's not a compression issue that I know of. An example would be of a 6 or 7 mb file shrinking down to anywhere from 900 something kb to 1.5 mb. I do these files for a photographer and for enlargements bigger than 8x10 that just won't work, so he has to re-do them, and he doesn't get this issue like I do. Is it possibly a setting in CS5? I've been banging my head over this for a few days because it's driving him crazy.
I'm just doing simple edits, curves in the studio and actions outdoors. Batch saving---if you think it could possibly something involved in that. (which I don't because it happens even when I don't batch save.)
I'm only used to using illustrator and am struggling with what should be a simple task in photoshop. I have a wedding photo and I'd like to make a circle around the couple, make that a separate image, resize it, copy and paste to eventually make labels.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to blend a couple of images together using the gradient tool.
I moved one image to the other using the move tool, I then added Layer Mask (in the layers palette), i then got my gradient tool and selected black,white.....I used the gradient tool on the left side of the image and it blended beautifully.
So, now that the left side is blended nicely, I attempt to blend the right side. The right side blends very nice.....but my left side went back to where it was originally.
How do I blend multiple sides of the image?
Photoshop raw is cropping my cr2 images even after I have removed the crop in DPP (Digital Photo Professional - Canon's own raw editing software). I have many images cropped by a Canon 5D3 as it forces a 16:9 crop when you take a still while in video mode. The rest of the data is in the raw file, but this is not read by Camera Raw which forces the 16:9 crop. I have removed the crops in DPP, and even re-cropped with a different crop, saved the files and used every way I can imagine to get them into PS short of turning them into tiffs. I do not want to save as a tiff, as I really like the tools in PS Raw, especially the exposure tool (I am no great photographer but I have some very special and irreplaceable pics form fieldwork overseas which are ahem errr not quite correctly exposed).
My ideal worflow is open folder in DPP - star rate the pics I want to work on. crop them (nice to do this in DPP as it is part of the selection process) then get them into Camera Raw without any more effort, then if an image can be tweaked - do it as a Raw, if it needs more work - get it into PS6 as a tiff and go from there. This seems to minimise effort and minimise file space, at the expense of having two different file types.
is there a better way to review 300 similar pics and get the best selected and processed? I have PS6 with raw 7.3.

I bought some vector eps files from Shutterstock. Most of these vectors are a bunch of smaller image elements.(For Instance Icons)What I would like to do is to find a way to batch crop all of the layers out of the eps and into png files.Of course they would need slightly different names.
I have seen where you can do something similar, but the smaller images are on a full size transparent background. I would prefer that they are auto cropped.I have the full CS6 Through Adobe Creative Cloud. So I can use illustrator for part of this if needed.
I just want to ask if there is a way to delete a couple of frames at ones. I mean, like delete frame 20 to/through 60 and then the 40 frames will be deleted instead of pressing the delete button 40 times?

Is there some check mark that I need to uncheck so that the materials I am placing are always dark and they don't end up fading out? Note, if I rotate the my model the materials will reappear then fade out again when I stop rotating.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to consolidate a lot of the linework onto a couple of layers that I will be importing into SketchUp. So what I did was created a new layer (Base), turned on all of the layers with the linework that I wanted to move onto that layer, highlighted the linework, right-clicked and opened "Properties," and changed the layer option to Base.
Now, when I check the properties on the linework, it says that it is all on the Base layer. However, when I turn on or off or export the Base layer, it doesn't affect all of the linework, but when I manipulate the layers that the linework was originally on, it does.
In other words, if you look at the objects' Properties, it says they are all on the layer I want them to be on. However, when I try to work with that layer, it does not affect the linework that I want to be in that layer.
I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)
But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop
The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before
[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm starting to get serious about photography. I've shot a batch of photos that need manual processing. There are a couple of steps where I should be able to save one or two keystrokes every time. This may sound minor, but when I have to do it time after time after time, it gets annoying. This is not intended to be a rant, but rather a request for info about changing defaults to speed things up for me.
I'm running Gimp 2.6.11 on Gentoo linux (64-bit). I've looked at"Edit ==> Preferences", but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
1) I need to crop photos, but the manual "crop tool" is not the best fit. I prefer to use "Image ==> Canvas Size". My problem is that the Width+Height aspect ratio defaults to staying constant. I.e. if I crop the X size, the Y size changes proportionally. I do NOT want that. I have to manually click on the link to break the linkage. Sometimes I forget, which can get really annoying, when cropping in one dimension crops the other as well. How can I change the default to not link the X+Y sizes?
2) Saving stuff to PNG *) After having done any cropping, I obviously want to save my work.Saving to PNG pops up a dialog about "Your image should be exported before it can be saved...", Is there any way to get the PNG save routine to "just do it", rather than popping up a dialogue?
*) If I'm saving to a new PNG file, I get *YET ANOTHER DIALOGUE* with settings for compression/interlacing/etc/etc. I never change the default settings, so this is another extra annoyance to me. How can I get the"save as" command to "just do it"?
I know the above may sound minor, but it does get annoying after the umpteenth time.
I set up a pretty little table of contents for a handbook and wrestled the styles into place. But, for some reason, I have two page numbers that are wacked out to the right of everything else.
The page numbers are set up on the master page and are very simple. It's the same master for all of the pages.
There are two styles at work in the TOC, messing with those doesnt change anything.
Why would these two, and only these two, get kicked off their mark?
I want to do rectangular selection (window select) couple of clips. So i try to click and drag (start from any empty area in timeline), but most of the time , i will end up picking up or moving the empty track (gap). In any other editing app , i can simply click and drag but not in Smoke. Yes, i have to click in specific area in the timeline so i can properly create a window selection .

This is a side view of my frame. I am trying to make it so that the outer members are simply one piece of angle iron that is notched and bent at the angles. I have not been able to figure out how to do this and as it stands right now, that piece of the frame is made up of 5 seperate lengths of angle iron. Is there any way to get it as one piece in the frame generator or any other way for that matter?
