When I write a text in illustrator, there appears a small grey border around the text. When I save it as a pdf or jpg, then it’s gone. So I’m sure it’s not a stroke. It more looks like some kind of path around the text. When I draw another shape (square, circle…) then there is no problem .I’ve reset illustrator (removed the presets) but that didn’t do anything.
View 6 RepliesI'm using .AI CS6. I am trying to type something and the font color is set to black. But only shows up grey. But all other colors work fine. Document color is set to RGB, not CMYK, or Greyscale. I'm totally at a loss... My customer is needing this tomorrow. So a really fast correct reponse would be FANTASTIC. Been woring on this artboard for a little over an hour and can't do what I need done. I open new Artboards and the same problem persists..

what setting is creating this or what's going on? And how i can stop it?
The problem is almost prehistoric. It dates from the very beginning as far I can tell... whatever image you like to export and whatever its format: png, gif, jpg, there is always one grey pixel border line at the edges. This happens when AA is activated (and deactivate it is not an option if you know what I mean).
I have been reading some threads and no matter what I do: Exporting with or without the background or changing its color... it's always happening.
I Have now installed the trial version of Corel Draw X5 (sp1 included) as I do with every release in order to check out if the problem persist... but no luck for me: nobody seems to be taking care of this issue. I really don't know why Corel is bumping off some many (potentially) buyers like me and many others... why Corel is keeping this issue unresolved year after year, release after release?
A friend of mine has been happily using / importing Sony Nex 7 Raw images into Lightroom 4.2 / 4.3 for a long time when suddenly this happens.
Note the grey border all around the image.
This file was imported with: No develop presetNo metadata preset.Process 2012.Various std in the box profiles. Here is a screen paste of the file dimensions (also showing that it is a raw file and not cropped).
All Sony Nex raw files imported to a particular machine (Win 7, 64 bit) demonstrate this behaviour. So, in trying to trace the problem.
The crop tool was checked to make sure there was no crop applied. They grey border is not just a visual border. If you examine the jpg it is actually grey pixels consuming a large percentage of the native 6000x4000 Nex 7 resolution.The Reset button was pressed also,to make sure the raw file conversion was restored to basecamp.History reset.A raw image imported into the same machine / software from a Nikon D300 behaves perfectly.Previously imported Nex 7 Raw images are ok.When the images are imported into two other machines they imports perfectly.Scrapping the preference file makes no difference.Overlay mode was checked, an overlay image loaded and then overlay mode turned off… just to make sure this was NO overlay.Applying a crop and then removing a crop still leaves the grey border.Applying the crop reduces the image dimensions to approx.. 4946 x 3293. Exporting an image to jpg (as shown) leaves image with grey border. This grey border can be cropped out, but it means the resolution will reduce.Exploring various scene modes / in camera crops / resolution settings on the camera does not seem to make any difference.Formatting the card in the camera, take a picture, import directly from card. 3 different cards used. (No change).When using the Catelog on a different machine the grey border remains.
NB Camera set to RAW + jpeg. Jpeg's import without border.
So finally last night…
……. we uninstalled Lightroom 4.3 and re-installed into a different folder. (No change).
I'm making an ebook cover with a white background and I want to put a grey pixel cell frame around it but I don't know how to do it. I'm only getting started with getpaint.net.

View 11 Replies View RelatedAfter opening a file from another designer, this Chinese font has taken over my "omens – regular" font file. Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.
Is there a way to specify a given system font that should be substituted for a given missing font? For example, the document I'm working with contains CourierStd and CourierStd-Bold which are not installed on my system. I would like to set Illustrator so that any time a document that contains these fonts is opened, Courier New and Courier New Bold are substituted automatically.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having stroke issues. I'm not sure if it's a document setting somewhere or a bug. In one of my documents, when I draw a box and try to set the stroke to inside, it offsets, like this:
Notice that the stroke is on top in the appearance panel, yet the fill is masking half the stroke. If I resize the box, it changes the offset: It was also snapping any stroke weight under 1 pt to 1 pt when my fill was a gradient, although that doesn't seem to be a problem with this shape. Another strange thing is that in a different existing document, the stroke works properly, but if I open a new document with this one open, the same problem occurs in the new document. Is this a document setting?
Illustrator CS6 exports to PNG with unwanted transparencies. I've done everything I can think of but some of the shapes in my Ai file with 100% opacity are still showing the layer under them in the PNG export file.

If I try to transform and resize the png it shrinks my buton (which is at the exact correct size).

This works perfectly for quickly assessing brightness and contrast of pictures.
In pse 10 however I could not find any button to change the preset lightgrey background colour to darkgrey.
I am currently running Map 3D 2012 with CadWorx and I am having an issue with one of my multi tab drawings. Any object set to plot grey (any grey), that is in paper space, is plotting black only in one of my layouts. similar objects in model space and in both spaces on other layouts are all plotting accordingly.
View 0 Replies View RelatedWith shapes that are intended to fit exactly with one another, such as shapes created with pathfinder>divide I find often that there are very small cracks between the shapes and that these will show up if the shapes are exported to Photoshop in a more pronounced way.
What's the workaround to 'seal' one shape to another and rid the result of these gaps?
Joining the shapes is not an option as they are different colours.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI picked up the following search and replace script online which works as inteded, except that it removes any italics I have and makes all of my text bold. Is there something I need to add/remove/replace to make it stop doing this?
Edit: It's doing even more in some files, including changing the size of my text. Also, it is only making these changes to any text box that has a string to be replaced.

I'm having trouble with a logo I've created in an svg. file. I seem to have to finalized, but when I save it as a pdf. to take it to the printers I see parts of the logo suddenly have no stroke or stroke has been added in other parts.
I don't seem to have any hidden layers I don't think. I'm not sure if there is a setting to change in the window that gives you all the options to choose from when you're saving something as a pdf. Or is there a setting I should be activating when finalizing this logo as an svg that prevents such problems. I'm pretty new to illustrator, before this I was using inkscape which I got the feel of until i decided to go pro with illustrator.
When I create a new document in Illustrator I'm getting two artboards, even though the new document dialog box displays 1 in the Number of Artboards dropdown. Why this might happen, and more importantly, how to stop it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a logo that employs a stippled texture (a half-tone) in various sections of objects comprising the logo. I've placed the stipple where I want it, created a clipping path to capture the area. Now I have all these other points that I don't need that I want to delete.
Is there anyway short of releasing the clipping path, manually delete unwanted sections of the stipple and then re-apply the clipping path again? It would be like 'Applying Mask' in photoshop.
When selection a 'home made'symbol I get a grey box over, and it covers the symbol. What to do?

Once I trace and expand it, with the option to ignore white selected, there are still transparent shapes that I have to manually delete. For what I am doing now, it is way too tedious to have to do that. Why, if I'm 'ignoring white' so that I simply get a black/transparent vector image, are these transparent shapes showing up?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I export a CorelDraw file to Illustrator, Corel has a habit of turning all objects into transparencies. So I have to convert them back into opaque objects in Illustrator, which can take a long time since I'm doing illustrations that have on average 1000 + objects, most of them opaque. I'm using the default export settings, and changing which version of Illustrator I'm exporting to doesn't seem to work.
I'm wondering if this is a glitch with CorelDraw X5 or do I have some box checked that shouldn't be?
