In CS6, what the little grey box is that appears when you hover over the center or corner of a rectangle? (Or other shape?) I recall seeing pixel dimentions at some point; has my interface become corrupted? (If so, what can I do?)

I am using Illustrator CS5.1 on a iMac, I am working on 10.9 Mavericks, and now the crosshair/cursor/ various tools have almost dissappeared to a /faint grey in tint, will I have to wait for a fix from Adobe or Apple or is there something in preferences I can click to solve issue?
I Have already reported this 'Bug' via Adobe website.
I have to keep pressing my nose against the screen and squint my eyes to see where I am drawing and designing, it's not a pretty sight.
In Xcode, we have to define cursor as:

In Windows we use .cur file, simpler.
I want to convert .cur file to the mac format above, how?
can I alter the BACKGROUND COLOUR from the Grey to a lighter grey as in P/Shop Album 2.00 which is just what I want..I hate the darker colour as background..I have just purchased the Elements 11.

This works perfectly for quickly assessing brightness and contrast of pictures.
In pse 10 however I could not find any button to change the preset lightgrey background colour to darkgrey.
I am currently running Map 3D 2012 with CadWorx and I am having an issue with one of my multi tab drawings. Any object set to plot grey (any grey), that is in paper space, is plotting black only in one of my layouts. similar objects in model space and in both spaces on other layouts are all plotting accordingly.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with Illustrator. I'm running CS6 on my macbook pro retina (OS X 10.8.2)
At any random point in a piece of work, new effects I add stop showing up. This can be anything from warping a shape, to re-ordering items in the appearance panel. When this happens I can toggle visibility, or even delete elements, but they still remain visible. The piece of work stays live on the art board, but stuck, despite any changes I have made showing up in the appearance menu. If I save the work, shut down Illustrator and then open it again the changes I have made appear, but my artwork freezes again after only a couple of changes. This is making working impossible.
Here you can see I've actually switched off visibility for the three elements in this graphic, and added a warp to the blue rectangle, but nothing has changed on the work area:
I am running Illustrator CS5 on a Laptop PC. I am constantly installing new fonts to work on customer projects...
I have noticed that sometimes the fonts appear in the font list in alphabetical order, and sometimes they appear either towards the top or bottom (not in order), or they are in a completely separate grouping at the bottom of the list. Is there any fix for this? I'd prefer that they all be in Alphabetical order if possible...
When selection a 'home made'symbol I get a grey box over, and it covers the symbol. What to do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn Mac, CS6, there is a rectangle that is always visible and I can't remove it.It appears even on every document and even if no documents are opened. It's static on screen and doesn't move with when moving the document.Maybe its a bug or an element from the GUI? Even a system restart doesn't fix it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI create my slide using illustrator (from CS2 to CS5) and when I save the file in pdf format, a red line is being created around the rectangle border of the silde.
I don't know how it was generated and what to do to remove it.
I'm having trouble with a logo I've created in an svg. file. I seem to have to finalized, but when I save it as a pdf. to take it to the printers I see parts of the logo suddenly have no stroke or stroke has been added in other parts.
I don't seem to have any hidden layers I don't think. I'm not sure if there is a setting to change in the window that gives you all the options to choose from when you're saving something as a pdf. Or is there a setting I should be activating when finalizing this logo as an svg that prevents such problems. I'm pretty new to illustrator, before this I was using inkscape which I got the feel of until i decided to go pro with illustrator.
I've been working on items in Illustrator, and noticed a HUGE change when I transfer them into Photoshop. What I am doing is creating images (and text) in Illustrator.
Then I select, Control + C to copy, then I paste into my 300dpi document in Photoshop to add textures, etc. Once they are brought in... the text is pixelated and not clear like it is in Illustrator.

I've constructed a logo that consists of several shapes that but up against each other. The sides that touch one another are completely flat. When I zoom in, the objects are touching, if not overlapping in some cases. This is okay as it is very small.
However when I save it as a pdf document to sent to a client, those thin lines between the shapes appear much more pronounced. It looks as if I have intentionally put a .5 stroke line between each object.
I try to use the color grey its always redish grey and never grey.
I tried changing my color settings from photoshop but it still wont work.
I have some objects and they have to be black. But if I set te color to #000000 I get some grey color. How I can remove this ?

I have the CS5 creative suite and all the other tools in other programmes work great.
When I write a text in illustrator, there appears a small grey border around the text. When I save it as a pdf or jpg, then it’s gone. So I’m sure it’s not a stroke. It more looks like some kind of path around the text. When I draw another shape (square, circle…) then there is no problem .I’ve reset illustrator (removed the presets) but that didn’t do anything.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm using .AI CS6. I am trying to type something and the font color is set to black. But only shows up grey. But all other colors work fine. Document color is set to RGB, not CMYK, or Greyscale. I'm totally at a loss... My customer is needing this tomorrow. So a really fast correct reponse would be FANTASTIC. Been woring on this artboard for a little over an hour and can't do what I need done. I open new Artboards and the same problem persists..
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ai CS6 64bit now on windows 8, and I have a problem with the black and grey colors, because they look like brown variations...In the past I hadn't similar problems, but recently I changed my notebook to an Asus KB56, from Acer.
I attached the 1st picture to show exactly what is the problem, the colors should to be all black, but they are brown...The second picture shows them in paint, which works perfect...
Everytime I select a color in Illustrator it has the "Out of gamut" warning and the color I want appears darker and different then how It looks in the preview of color picker. It is making the colors of my design really ugly. This problem also seems to be happening when I select a color in Indesign, but I'm not sure if this is caused by the same thing.

On creating or moving any objects I have artifacts like this:
They drawing to the right of the cursor till I hold mouse button. After release button they mostly disappeared.
I have a graphic that I put together in photoshop that I'm trying to bring into illustrator and it has feathered edges. When I bring the .PSD file into AI as a smart object.. the feathered part of the graphic is grey.. but I want it to be transparent.
