Illustrator :: Illegal Or Misplaced Operator

So I've created a document with 2 artboards each in size 297mm x 210mm. I've added texts and pure illustrator created vectors. I deleted the swatches pallette and added 13 Pantone C colors. Saved (after a days work) and accendentaly closed the file. When I try to reopen it it gives me this:
 
Can’t open the illustrator file. The illustration contains an illegal or misplaced operator.

I chose to open the file anyway and all the elements are gone. Pretty frustrating when you're working against a deadline. After panicing I opened the file in Acrobat, saved it as EPS and remade the file. This for some reason saving a EPS from Acrobat split the text fields in non understandable way?
 
Now, is there a way to get my file to work? Why does this happen and what can I do to prevent this from happening?
