Illustrator :: Can't Open It In CS6 - Illegal Operand

I worked for two weeks in an illustration and I can´t open the file. Illustrator show the message: "Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an illegal operand.((((((( -410390914..."
I followed instructions that I found in forums about make an script for recovery files, illustrator maked a new recovered file and a txt file, I deleted the lines that appeared in the error message, but it continues giving me an error and doesn´t open the file.

I have however come across a real doosey - with a meeting to show the work inside this corrupted file.. tomorrow morning! love it. I'm a junior and I'm afraid of the extent my balls are on the block with this hiccup.
Placing the file in a separate AI file wasn't a solution because I am such a messy worker (outside artboards) and could only obtain a small snippet of the overall file.
I also tried turning on file recovery in Preferences>Illustrator CS5.1 Settings and the file that was recovered was blank.
It may also be of use that I was working on this file on another computer before coming home, and spilling beer in shock, denial, and disgust that I had lost many many hours of work.

So I've created a document with 2 artboards each in size 297mm x 210mm. I've added texts and pure illustrator created vectors. I deleted the swatches pallette and added 13 Pantone C colors. Saved (after a days work) and accendentaly closed the file. When I try to reopen it it gives me this:
Can’t open the illustrator file. The illustration contains an illegal or misplaced operator.

I chose to open the file anyway and all the elements are gone. Pretty frustrating when you're working against a deadline. After panicing I opened the file in Acrobat, saved it as EPS and remade the file. This for some reason saving a EPS from Acrobat split the text fields in non understandable way?
Now, is there a way to get my file to work? Why does this happen and what can I do to prevent this from happening?

installing a 64GB SSD as a caching disk to my 750GB using Intel Smart Response.
So, I installed my SSD, configured windows to recognize RAID and configured Intel's Rapid Storage to use my new SSD as a caching drive. After that, I had to reactivate windows, which was expected, and I had to reinstall Paint Shop Pro X4, which was not.
Right after reinstalling, the software worked ok, installed SP2 and SP3, all fine. After a reboot... nothing, the error indicating that my copy was damaged or illegally modified showed up again. So... reinstall... SP2... SP3... ok! Reboot...
I noticed that the protexis licensing was running, and tried to restart it, and Paint Shop worked! Reboot.. run PSP... error... restart service... ok!!
*** SOLUTION ***
Changing the starting method of the protexis service from "Automatic - delayed" to "Automatic" made the trick for me!

I always get the message after I make a closed boundary polygon, and I know it's a closed boundary, but I know how to fix it. It just bugs me sometimes when the message pops up when I add it as a boundary under the definition of a surface.

I try to wire the length parameter of a taper object to the local Y-Position values of another object. It works fine until I reload the file. I get an MAXScript Wire Controller Exception error:
--Runtime error: Illegal self-reference in controller script
...and the parameter-wire dialog opens. The desired functionality returns by clicking the Update Button and everything works fine again.

I'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?

I'm having a problem throught CS6 with the Open, Save, or Save As dialog boxes not opening for a period of time after clicking on the desired functions. It can take over a minute just to get the Open dialog box up to browse for a file. Eventually, the dialog boxes open, but during the time that it's trying to open, the program is unresponsive. It is happening with all of my CS6 programs. I have unistalled and reinstalled with no fix. The programs are updated.

I suddely cannot open Illustrator CS6 on my imac. The message says something to the effect that I should check with the software developers to make sure it works with this version of OS X and that a reinstall may be necessary.

I have had a problem recently of large EPS files not opening in CS3 on my new work PC.
The following error comes up when I try and open the file:
"Can't open the Illustration. Could not complete the requested operation."
When I click Okay, I'm greeted with either a completely blank page, or a page where some elements are missing - usually embedded images, which are presumably what's causing the problem.
Before you ask, I've tried the following:
Placing the unlinked EPS into a new document - no love.Placing the EPS in InDesign and exporting - I just get a blank, grey image and a file that won't open.Opening the EPS in Acrobat - again, no love. If I PLACE the file in a new document as a LINK, I get a preview image - it's when I try to embed it that it fails.
Now, I'm not after a way to fix my file, because I know it's corrupted and probably can't be saved. What I would like to know is why it keeps happening and how can I stop it?
I've noticed that it happens mainly when I place large image files into a document. I've also noticed, after some testing to try and find a fix, that if I save as an AI file, it opens fine, large images and all.
I need to save EPS files so that the files can be opened in other applications. Unfortunately, not everybody has Illustrator.
My computer is BRAND NEW and it can't simply be a memory issue because I have 8gb of RAM. Full specs are listed below.
especially given it never used to happen on my OLD work PC, with the exact same version of Illustrator.

According to Illustrators documentation it should be possible to open CGM files. I get a message: "The filter cannot complete becuase of an unknown error." There is a filter for this, located in plug-ins - Illustrator formats. (Reader for CGM.smrd).
Have tried to place, and also reset Illustrator prefs files.
Is there any special "tricks" here for opening CGM in Illustrator? Or is it just not working?
Alternative, any good 3rd part plugin or separate software for converting CGM to PDF on Mac OSX?

This problem just started recently on my PhotoShop 7.
Whenever I try to open an EPS file that was created in Illustrator or Freehand (or any other EPS that is not a Photoshop EPS), it opens up as a blank document, like a transparent layer.
I tried everything and looked everywhere but without success.

I get the following error when trying to open some EPS files "can't open this illustrator file. the file was generated with a newer version of illustrator and cannot be opened. resave in a format compatible with your version of illustrator". Everything is working fine with opening .psd files in photoshop. Everything was fine a few days ago opening .ai files with Illustrator. Now I can't open any .ai files most of the time. My computer will start up Illustrator but no file will load. Occasionally, the files I tried to open will all open and load at once after a reboot. But after the reboot, the files will not open again. I uninstalled Illustrator and reinstalled, however, this has not fixed the problem. I'm also having trouble exiting out of Illustrator, it won't let me close the program at times. I'm using a Macbook Pro with the Lion OS.

I've tried everything I can think of, I've reinstalled twice, deleted preferences, removed problematic fonts, installed patches, restarted my computer 3 times... and it just worked yesterday morning. Illustrator will open up fine, but if I try to open anything it freezes up, whether I drag it over the icon, double click, file/open... whichever. I can create a new document, but it freezes if I save it. I know there are a ton of different problems it could potentially be, but I don't know what else you'd need to know to figure out what.. have work to get done for a huge trade show that is fastly approaching. I created a design for a window cling using InDesign and submitted it to the printer as a cmyk PDF. The vendor is now requesting an ai file. Illustrator is outside my skill set, but I do have it as part of CS6. I opened the PDF in Illustrator and did Ctrl+Y to confirm that it was entirely vector, and it is. Is there any problem with simply saving it as a .ai? Or is there a better way to go about it? The file will not need to be edited in Illustrator.

Can Illustrator CS4 open files created in CS6? or can CS6 files be converted to be opened in CS4? like CS6 InDesign can be saved in IDML files to be opened in previous versions. Or if there is any other work around ways, like save CS6 files in PDFs/eps/... so the files can be opened in CS4 and work from there.

I received a .eps file (actually two of them) and cannot open it. I tried two different macs (Tiger & Leopard). Tried Illustrator CS 2, 3, 4, & 5. Tried Distiller and preview. Tried to import to InDesign, Illustrator & Quark. I keep getting "The file is in an unknown format and cannot be opened.
Emailed it to a friend who opened it immediately (Leopard & CS5), saved and returned a working file. I can't keep emailing people to open my files for me.

why does illustartor CC open then crashes and i get a message saying windows does not know what the problem is. everytime i open it, Now i know it works on my computer becuase i've used illustartor plenty of times on my current desktop but ever since today its been acting wierd and work so i've uninstalling and reinstalling but still nothing works then i tried installing on another hardrive still did not work and i cleaned out my registryies, optimized my disk, and cleaned temp files tooo.

One of our users is unable to open some PDF files in her ver of illustrator.Her version is 15.0.2 using Windows 7 64bit.She can open the PDF in reader but when she tries to opens it in Illustrator she gets error "file not found" this is the same if she right clicks open with illustrator or double clicks, and also if she tries to open from within Illustrator.The file was created using illustrator for MAC and they can open the file OK, they also tried to save the file as an AI and she still cannot open it

I am unable to open .dwg files in Illustrator 5 & 6 on my new Macbook Pro (OS 10.7.4). I get an error message "the plugin cannot be initialized for the lack of the initialization file "ADINI.DAT"." This computer had AI transferred using Apple's Setup Assistant.
I can open the same .dwg file on an different MacBook Pro in both AI 5 & 6 (the AI installation here was by disk).
It looks like I may need to remove & reinstall AI on the newer computer. But before I do that I'm wondering if there's an easier way. What do I need to do to be able to open .dwg files using AI6?

I have a client who is trying to open files from FTP in a Windows Explorer window. When she tries to open the file, she receives the message that "The file is in an unknown format." If she downloads the file, however, it opens fine, so it's not an issue of file corruption. Is there any way to resolve this so she can open files directly from the FTP window? I know donwloading doesn't sound like a huge deal, but we're trying to make this process as streamlined as possible.
