View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new iMac and transferred all my software to it from my old computer. Photoshop elements will not open. The dialog box says "Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop elements Editor works with this version of OS X. you may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X."

My version is 10.8.4. The "Read Me" file says it requires 10.6 through 10.8.Â

So I attempted to uninstall it and reinstall.When I tried to uninstall I got a message that said it could not be uninstalled due to an error. I followed the directions to restart and try again... and again. Same message. At the bottom of the message was another saying if that didn't work to use a link to some Adobe "cleaner". When I clicked to download the "cleaner" I got a message that I had to UNINSTALL the Elements program before using it.

Next I tried to install Elements from the original disk and got this message: "Installation to case-sensitive drives is not supported. Please choose a different drive location to install." I just want to do a photo project as a gift for my parents.Â
My LR is currently only showing the photo folder. I have forgotten how to make it show all the folders on my computer and the external hard drive. What is the command to toggle back and forward?

I now get a "photoshop does not recognize this file type" when I try to open a raw file from Photoshop. When I try to open my raw files through bridge I get the message "you do not have permission to open the document. I have checked my permission preferences and have reading and writing permissions and updated to 6.7 ACR.

It crashes and also I cannot get the "Computer" tab to open, only the "Desktop" tab will work correctly. Tried restarting it, same results. I use Win XP Pro SP3 and computer does not have virus, nor malware. Hard drive is 500G. Graphics card is updated and more than adequate.

Since we don't have enough network lincenses, my company suggest to open only one application per computer only.

I went into SAFE mode to see what would happen and the same action resulted. I went into SAFE mode because all security programs would be off.
When I change the setting to use the user manual online this is the error message. ( My Outpost Security Suite 7.1 Free is ON.)

I went to see what the default browser but it only shows "Reg_SZ" in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOThttpshellopencommand. I want to verify what my default browser is. Isn't that what GIMP will use as the browser? Why does GIMP use the NotePad program to display the user manual when I have the preferences set to local access (on my computer)? The name of the NotePad file is "gimp-concepts-usage".

Would be nice if i could set that also in Illustrator settings (or better yet if Illustrator could automatically detect that) so when i zoom my work to 100%, it would actually display my work in real life size.

I understand that Illustrator is not meant for print prep but you often do create something (or a part of something) which will be reproduced in physical form (and size) and then it would work if you could in one click go to 100% zoom and see it in real size before you. atm i have to manually zoom to ~152% (given my 100dpi display => 110dpi/72dpi*100%). so you see it would be a feature for previewing.

How can I in the meantime change Illustrators presumption that my display is 72ppi like they were in the 90s?
I started a new computer with LR5, and it runs fine. But, when I imported my pics from a previous computer running LR4, all the pics loaded into the new LR without any tags or processing. How can I get that info without having ot reprocess thousands of pictures?

Nothing worked using Migration Assistant, so I reformatted to start clean, and tried installing everything directly from disk. Everything from CS 5 seems to install OK except Illustrator. I've tried four times now and itfails every time. This is the same disk I used to install it onto the Snow Leopard computer. I don't see any scratches or any physical damage to the disk, and it's been sitting safely unused for a couple of years, anyway. What's wrong with Illustrator and Mountain Lion? If it's just some quirk with my disk, is there any way I can download Illustrator CS5 from somewhere else and install it with my own registration/installation code?

When i save a file "for web" as a jpeg with a specific pixel size (320x50 for example) and then send it by email to someone, when they open it the dimensions somehow change. Even though on my mac when i "get info" from the jpeg the dimensions are correct.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?

Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?
I'm having a problem throught CS6 with the Open, Save, or Save As dialog boxes not opening for a period of time after clicking on the desired functions. It can take over a minute just to get the Open dialog box up to browse for a file. Eventually, the dialog boxes open, but during the time that it's trying to open, the program is unresponsive. It is happening with all of my CS6 programs. I have unistalled and reinstalled with no fix. The programs are updated.Â

I have had a problem recently of large EPS files not opening in CS3 on my new work PC.

The following error comes up when I try and open the file:

"Can't open the Illustration. Could not complete the requested operation."

When I click Okay, I'm greeted with either a completely blank page, or a page where some elements are missing - usually embedded images, which are presumably what's causing the problem.

Before you ask, I've tried the following:

Placing the unlinked EPS into a new document - no love.Placing the EPS in InDesign and exporting - I just get a blank, grey image and a file that won't open.Opening the EPS in Acrobat - again, no love. If I PLACE the file in a new document as a LINK, I get a preview image - it's when I try to embed it that it fails.

Now, I'm not after a way to fix my file, because I know it's corrupted and probably can't be saved. What I would like to know is why it keeps happening and how can I stop it?

I've noticed that it happens mainly when I place large image files into a document. I've also noticed, after some testing to try and find a fix, that if I save as an AI file, it opens fine, large images and all.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAccording to Illustrators documentation it should be possible to open CGM files. I get a message: "The filter cannot complete becuase of an unknown error." There is a filter for this, located in plug-ins - Illustrator formats. (Reader for CGM.smrd).
