I purchased and downloaded BPT-Pro 4-to use with CS6's Illustrator. This version of BPT-Pro has not been released to general public-you cna only get it now if you email and ask. I now have a file FULL of emails back and forth with it's creator, trying to get it to even open in Illustrator 6. I'm working in Windows 7. They keep asking for screen shots to prove that I have the correct version of their plug-in installed. When I run a scan to find a way to open the AIP file-the scan shows that I need Illustrator 5 to open the file. Not 6. But they won't listen and say they don't understand. I think they have a problem with their software but won't admit it. People that I know who are running a Mac say they had problems too and finally got it to work.
How do i get my actions from CS6 to work on CC? The function keys do not work, I have to reload them everyday. I have saved my action set to my desk top and right now I have to reload them everyday, sometimes this works sometimes it doesn't. Here is my set of actions...
These messages came up while trying to open these two files. They open after clicking OK, but the applicaion bar is completley blank and with no tools showing.
Ever since I upgraded to CS6 (3 months ago) I am having crashes all the time with actions.
I have tried to remake the actions, reinstall Illustrator, disable font embedding, nothing works. I have posted the crash to Adobe many times but no fix, obviously.
I have an illustration that I'd like to turn into a complex dot-to-dot. It has about 1,500 anchor points.
Option 1. I first investigated to see if there was a way to simply select all anchor points, and convert them into dots... removing the line segments.
Option 2. If I could break up all the line segments at once, I could then apply a pattern brush to them that has one color for the line and a different color for the end point, and then select the color for the line and delete all that is in that color, leaving only the end points. That would work, but I can't seem to find any cutting tool that allows me to select all anchor points at once and cutting them. The scissors only lets you cut one at a time. The slice tool and all the plug ins I've looked at don't seem to do the job.
Option 3. The illustration is one continuous line. I tried to apply a pattern brush to it that has a black dot assigned to the corner segments... but, as we all know, those corner segments get distorted unless the angle is 90 degrees. I don't think this will work.
Option 4. I saw a tutorial that just selects the line and assigns a dotted line to the whole line, then expand it, and delete all the 'in-between' points... that seems very time consuming. It would be quicker I think to just use the brush tool, create a new layer, and manually go to each of the anchor points of the illustration and add the dots manually. I'm trying to avoid that.
I have 96 of these illustrations to do, so it would save me TONS of time.
I get an error telling me that in order to access help, I need to be connected to the internet. I AM connected to the internet (otherwise, I would not be able to post this question). All I am trying to figure out is where in the heck "Text Wrap" moved to since I cannot find it under "Window" or "Text," but realizing I have NO access to help in the program suddenly made THAT the bigger issue here. Do I need to trash my preferences file or something? I'm on a Mac, running Mountain Lion, Illustrator CS6.
I have tried saving my project as a PDF so that I can send to different people and print, but no matter which PDF options I chose in Illustrator's final step for saving as PDF I end up getting a PDF with nothing on it! It turns up as a blank page. If I do get a visible PDF it stays that way for only a few minutes and prints out in reversed colours!! This is bissare. Some Preferences or something of mine are wack??
I cannot get Illustrator CS6 to work in isolation mode. I am in graphic design school and just learning Illustrator. The video I'm watch is telling me to double click the element (which is grouped) to enter isolation. I have tried severl times, even rebooting my computer to see if was a glitch. Still nothing happens when I double click. Using a Wacom tablet. But I even tried clicking with the trackpad, still nothing happens.
I am using Illustrator CC under a subscription on windows 8. When I go to use the type tool it does not type. I will click on it, create a box or double click to have the horizontal blinking text line show up. When it shows up this time it is a dot and does not show type on screen. So for example I would be sitting here typing this message, but you would not be able to read it as it does not show up on screen.
I have a plugin that should work on both Illustrator CS5 and CS6. CS6 also supports 64-bit illustrator. Can i create a 64-bit configuration for the CS5 SDK and make the plug-in work on Illustrator CS6 64-bit?
Have a file that is one big clip group with sub clip groups. This is not a regular Illustrator file that has different things on different layers.Need to modify elements in this clip group, like move items, select and modify items, colors etc.
For some reason, a text wrap wont work. I've placed the object above the text. but every time i try creating it I just get this odd looking outline around text (see image below).
i used to trace QR-Code images because I often need them as scalable vector data. That worked nearly perfect in the old versions. I just had to to a little clean-up to some corners but every anchor-point was perfectliy in place. The new Tracer in CS6 places the anchor-points not at the "Black-Square-corners" of the original image. The attaced image shows the Tracer-Preview and settings. The orange points indicate the not correct traced areas.
I drew a path in Illustrator and it won't let me apply some brushes and colors to it. When I click on the object the stroke color shows a different color than what it actually is. Another shape I drew at the same time is recoloring just fine, but the other one will not. How do I get the colors to work on my path?
I'm working on a design and I have CC. I need to share it with a coworker, but they only have CS6. Will we have any problems working on the design on both platforms?
I have put an effect on a path: stylise > outer glow. The pass is partly over a bitmap. The part of the path that's not over the bitmap has a normal glow, but the part of the path that is over the bitmap has a glow so weak , it's almost invisible. check the following link for a picture that shows the problem: [URL]
I got live trace to finally trace the image I want to use. But I am unable to select the vectors now, they are stuck. The tracing is a sublayer of layer one. Is there a simple trick I'm missing?
I have a masked area in my illustration. When I copy & paste it into PS the mask doesn't work. It doesn't matter if i paste as pixel or smart object. Even in AI when I copy and paste it to another file the mask fails to work.
This is a serious workflow disruption: In CSx I could open any file, choose a print preset, click on 'custom' for Media Size and it would automatically adjust the print width and height to whatever the artwork boundaries were (Ignore Artboards ✓'d). Now in CC it just uses whatever I had set for the print preset when I created it rather than adjusting like bfore. Is there something I'm overlooking? Can/will this be fixed? This might sound like small pease compared to the overall view, but this makes a design that would normally take a few seconds to print to our screens to almost half a minute.
I want to insert the blue shape into the iphone shape. I've clicked on clippin mask > make but it is not working. The iphone layer is "Clipping Path" and the blue shape layer is "Path". I've also tried to invert the order of the two layers but its not working either.
I use minus front all the time... well, I'm trying to make a pie chart with just the outside (see example). The logical way to do this to me is the make the pie chart, put an ellipse over everything and "minus front" it using the pathfinder tool. Well, I did this, and even though "minus front" is an available option--I can even click it--nothing happens when I click it. Even when I isolate each wedge of the pie chart, I cannot get any part of it to clip using "minus front."
