I am making a button and I am trying to add a glossy effect by putting a eclipse over the button like this
But of course I only want the eclipse on the button. I must be doing something wrong because the intersect is not working.
I have the following rounded rectangle
Need to make border glossy like below image
In order to do that, I've expanded this shape and created a ellipse with no stroke above button, with transparency/screen. This is what I got:
Now I need to get rid of the rest of ellipse, so the button will be transparent on upper boundaries. Inner part of button should be white, but whatever I put between button and ellipse should receive glossy effect. How to do that?

It is looking dated (to me), so I had been thinking about sprucing it up.
I decided I would remove the ugly text "jp2code", throw a transparent Glossy Button effect over it, and put my text on top of the glossy button as an Etched Glass effect.
So, I look up and start reading up on a couple of the better glossy button tutorials:
Making glass buttons, and Buttons (ymd:110331)
I have used them both before with great success, but this time proved difficult. Neither of them seems to have a good way to use a background image.
The best approach I found was to create a ymd button using a light gray background and setting the opacity down to 150 or so.
The end result looks no where near as nice as I had pictured in my head:
As you can see, it is very dark, does not look like a Glass Button, and I have not found a good Etched Glass effect.
How to brighten up the Glossy Button without washing out the background?
How can I remove all of the eclipse, except for the segment that creates a traingle with a curved side.

It does the same kind of thing when I align the stroke to the inside. It is fine when i align the stroke to center. The one that is offset to the top-left is the align-inside one.

I am working with a local graphic designer to print our newly designed items, and the first item we sent to print was a small envelope for donating money. Our designer showed us a digitally printed proof that looked very close to our colour, PMS 268 C. But, once they were offset printed, they were much lighter, close to PMS 268 UC. I was very disappointed, and realized I should have requesting coated stock, and I feel my designer is to blame for not mentioning this to me/showing me a misleading proof. Now we need to get a letter head printed, and she tells me that to match a Solid coated colour we must use glossy paper (she says glossy=coated). It is mind boggling to me that a digital printer can produce deeper, richer colours on uncoated paper than an offset printer can. I certainly don't want a glossy letterhead, but I cannot settle for such a inaccurate colour match. Is there anyway to get a match to a coated colour on uncoated or at least non-glossy paper?

I have hit Ctrl + H as well as went to the menu manually and my edges are showing. How do I turn back on this ability to see my anchor points and intersecting lines guide in Illustrator?

I have a rectangular image. Is it possible to use the "Eclipse tool", and make a oval shape..and take my rectangular image, and completely conformed to an oval shape, no longer showing the rectangular corners (the whole image totally conformed to OVAL).
Second question...with GIMP, can one take an image, and make the edges look like there tattered, or worn?
Today I found out that my Gimp 2.8 haven´t a "text along path" button in the text tool dialog. I must make it via the context menu of the text layer. Why is missing that button there?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a website layout done in Photoshop and was hoping to modify it to fit my own info. At the top it uses a menu bar with blue text. When the site is opened in its html view all text is blue. When a link is clicked that word turns orange. This is not a rollover effect because Imageready does not have a slice with an effect for it. When I try to edit this text something is changed with the properties of it. In the layers window the T to indicate a text box is grey. After I replace the text with my own the T box is it's usual white and the effect no longer works. If you don't understand this explanation Please email me and I will send you a photo of what I am talking about. This is not a rollover effect. how to do it and I don't know why my changing the text to my own deletes the effect.

I'm making a project on Visual Basic and what I'm trying to make is two pictures:one regular of a button with a nice frame.the second is that same button only having the effect of being pressed and pushed down.So I will program in VB that when the user presses the button it makes the effect of like a 3d pressed button.

I am trying to achieve this quite simple carving effect around buttons and on surfaces. It seems simple, but I cant figure out how to get the effect just right.

I want to try just putting a small stroke that goes around the outside of the drawing, however when I do select all and apply the stroke, it obviously strokes the inner parts of the drawing (for instance the mouth, eyes, dimples, etc). I've tried merging all of the layers, but it doesn't work.

I think can do it with a bitmap, but I want to retain the button as a vector. I've tried messing around with shadows and embossing, but cannot get the look right. (i'm using X4)
I'm using Photo & Graphic Designer 2013. I notice that the buttons are now under the Page Elements menu. I'm trying to figure out how to change the button color without losing the 3D effect. The Help says:
�Change the color by clicking on the appropriate colors on the left end of the Color Line and choosing 'edit'
if I just highlight the button and change the color, it turns the button into a flat color.
I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
In illustrator, is there a way to reduce anchors points in a segment path without altering the path?
Is there a better and more efficient way to reduce anchors points than using the pen-minus tool?
I'm using LR 5 Develop Module and I make a few adjustmnets and then click on the next photo and then click the "Previous" button but nothing happens. It did work the frist time I tried it and then occasionally it works, but most of the time it does nothing. Very frustrating as this is supposed to be a time-saver.the last photo I clicked on has chnages applied...then I click on next photo and click "previous."
I unistalled and reinstalled LR5 too....no change
I've tried every permutation of copy and paste; I renamed the path to path. It looks like a path when I add stroke, but it does not behave like one. I can't cut it or join it to any other path. It remembers it's text path status. I'm running OS X 10.7.5.
