In order to do that, I've expanded this shape and created a ellipse with no stroke above button, with transparency/screen. This is what I got:
Now I need to get rid of the rest of ellipse, so the button will be transparent on upper boundaries. Inner part of button should be white, but whatever I put between button and ellipse should receive glossy effect. How to do that?

Nov 3, 2011I am almost done with my model. He is in a naked state for the sake of making sure the anatomy is correct. I am preparing to rig, texture, and animate him. I plan on modeling the shirt and pants separate and use Maya's nCloth for those. I have also modeled glasses that are a completely separate mesh that will need to follow every movement of the head of my model.
Here is my issue, I am puzzled on how to model my shoes and socks.
1) Should i model them as part of the legs to eliminate further animation?
2) Should I model thee shoes and socks separate from the legs?
way to form a hierarchy where i can model everything individually and then make the main body rig a parent to everything secondary (shoes, socks, glasses, etc...)?

It worked fine 2 days ago, until I printed 1 matte print — then switched back to Photo black ink, from Matte black, to print on luster paper today and it only gives me matte black paper options. Printer is Epson Photo R2400.

May 13, 2007I need to purchase a notebook computer 15.4" and have noticed that the traditional matte screens are hard to find. The computer that I configured at Dell only has matte up to 1280x800. Does matte produce more accurate colors than the new glossy displays?

Jun 7, 2009brought with her a USB stick containing several images of an old (31 years) scooter that she wishes to get restored, including a change of colour, and has asked me could I possibly change the original colour and try a few others to see what they look like.
Whilst making a selection of the original colour panels isn't a problem, when I change the colour using the Fill function the result of course is a flat colour lacking in any sort of metallic gloss feel to the paint.

i've seen all sorts of "create a glossy orb" tutorials.. but those are all for circular shapes.. and most of the "glossy button" tutorials i've seen have a rather 'straight' reflection line, or they just look silly.

I think I should use gradients and the rectangular marquee perhaps but I have no clue. The main problem is to incorporate the shadows and highlights on the bottle into the label.

Jun 18, 2007I'd like to add the glassy edge reflection to some pics..how this can be done..the extreme colors of the pics is nice as well. The edge of the pics have all the burn edge here and there. the middle one has a lot in the bottom right edge. Also if you look closely at the corners, it looks like the whole picture sits in a recessed area... How would I do all this?
The 3 pics in the coloumn have the reflective glossy edge making the picture thick almost roundish surface..
to the left is text i've recently seen on a lot of websites. It has that nice diffused background that's very subtle and not so noticeable.

Jul 2, 2012I'm trying to get the A&D material to render glossy reflection. The scene is reasonably big in dimensions. I used a photometric stadium light to light my scene and a skylight.
For the A&D material i didn't use the preset, thought i tried with about the same effect. The material has 1.0 reflectivity, 1.0 glossiness, 1.0 transparency and 1.0 glossiness.
For rendering i use MR with GI, nog FG (also tried that and has the same effect).
GIMP :: Hangs When Using Glossy Filter?
Nov 3, 2012I am using Mac 10.7.5 and Gimp 2.8
Earlier today Gimp crashed every time I tried to open a .xfc image.
I eventually resorted to uninstalling Gimp and downloading it again.
It worked fine until I stared using the Filters - specifically the Alpha to Logo > Glossy.
The first time is just, but worked after I Force Quit Gimp and tried again.
However, since then Gimp just hangs every time I try to use the Glossy filter.
I've removed the x Quartz X11 I downloaded for earlier versions of Gimp from my utilities folder. Still no good.
There is another X11 application in the same Utilities folder, but I don't know if I put it there or it belongs with Lion.
I don't know how there was two X11 apps, but they do have different logos.

I followed exactly as described on page2-page5.everything goes exactly like mentioned ,except for last page(5) instruction ,which says " When the positioning of the selection looks correct, go to Edit > Erase Selection to delete the base of the gradient. You should now see that you have created a glossy text effect similar to that that you can see on the first page of this tutorial.

Apr 27, 2011Whenever I create an interior scene and use an omni light I get these horrible white hotspots reflecting in the surface of glossy objects, particularly glass. I am currently using Mental Ray with MR Sun and MR sky and a few omnis, but I have had this problem since the bad old days of using the scanline. Is there a quick fix that allow the Omnis to cast light but prevent them from reflecting?
