3ds Max :: Non Glossy Reflections With A&D Material
Jul 2, 2012
I'm trying to get the A&D material to render glossy reflection. The scene is reasonably big in dimensions. I used a photometric stadium light to light my scene and a skylight.
For the A&D material i didn't use the preset, thought i tried with about the same effect. The material has 1.0 reflectivity, 1.0 glossiness, 1.0 transparency and 1.0 glossiness.
For rendering i use MR with GI, nog FG (also tried that and has the same effect).
Whenever I create an interior scene and use an omni light I get these horrible white hotspots reflecting in the surface of glossy objects, particularly glass. I am currently using Mental Ray with MR Sun and MR sky and a few omnis, but I have had this problem since the bad old days of using the scanline. Is there a quick fix that allow the Omnis to cast light but prevent them from reflecting?
How can I get glossy result in Slate material editor? I do not seem to have any problem in compact material editor with glossy and reflectivity set to 1
I can delete every unused material except one in the Material Editor.I am trying to make the custom Material library and somehowI have got the Material I cannot delete. URL....
I am in the samill building buisness. While designing I thought it would be nice to show logs on our equipment. Is there anyway to show bark on drawings to show the texture on the final drawing?
I upgraded to 3DsMax 2011 and still have some problems navigating the Slate Material Editor. I want to create a Mix material as the "first" material but I'm only able to double click on the Sample Slot to get a standard material in the "View1" as my "first" material. I am able to create a "Mix" node here, but it has to be connected to the "Standard" material and this makes it so that i can not drag the material in to the "Environment and Effects" tab as my "Environment Map".
When i go back to the "Compact Material Editor" (which waists time), I can select the Standard icon but "Maps" is not available in the "Material/Map Browser" when i right click on an open space.
Im on Max 2011 with sp1 and the latest hotfix installed, working with vray 1.5 sp5. When i try to re-set mu material editor (compact not slate) i get the folllowing error message
"Runtime error: cannot assign undefined to material editor slots" and a Macro_media utilities window opens with the following script
macroScript clear_medit_slots enabledIn:#("MAX", "VIZ") category:"Medit Tools" internalCategory:"Medit Tools" ButtonText:"Reset Material Editor Slots" tooltip:"Reset Material Editor Slots" [code]....
I'm not a scripter but it seems that there is no material defined to place into the slots on re-set. I've recently had a problem with my material editor not giving me acess to slate as i had loaded up my 2010 menus into 2011 but i've since re-installed max and vray and am still getting this.
Is there any filter, or technique that would take a PS picture and give it a glossy look? Something like as if the picture were printed on high gloss paper.
if I make a square jpg with suppose blue color. How can I made it little glossy sort of glass like affect, instead of dull blue color with no shine ...
how to create the lips that are in the picture that i have, i have searched the net for a few hours, looking for tutorials, vectors etc, but to no avail,
My PS CS5 won't let me select printing on glossy and luster paper. It worked fine 2 days ago, until I printed 1 matte print — then switched back to Photo black ink, from Matte black, to print on luster paper today and it only gives me matte black paper options. Printer is Epson Photo R2400.  PK - black ink cart installed, selected the correct paper profile in color management. What's up? I seem to remember having this trouble before.
I need to purchase a notebook computer 15.4" and have noticed that the traditional matte screens are hard to find. The computer that I configured at Dell only has matte up to 1280x800. Does matte produce more accurate colors than the new glossy displays?
brought with her a USB stick containing several images of an old (31 years) scooter that she wishes to get restored, including a change of colour, and has asked me could I possibly change the original colour and try a few others to see what they look like.
Whilst making a selection of the original colour panels isn't a problem, when I change the colour using the Fill function the result of course is a flat colour lacking in any sort of metallic gloss feel to the paint.
I wanted to make text/image glossy in paint.net.so i followed procedure given in this link : URL...
I followed exactly as described on page2-page5.everything goes exactly like mentioned ,except for last page(5) instruction ,which says " When the positioning of the selection looks correct, go to Edit > Erase Selection to delete the base of the gradient. You should now see that you have created a glossy text effect similar to that that you can see on the first page of this tutorial.
underlined part i just cant execute, because that link in paint.net software remains dead and i cant click it.
how to do this I am a seasoned photoshop user but not sure how to do this. I want to take a photo of a camera and place it in ph on a glossy floor to walls. I know how to place a reflection under it but how to make from scratch a glossy white floor.
i'm using Photoshop CS, and looking for a tutorial on how to make a glossy image like the orange/yellow-ish one in the banner/header of this site: http://www.mariocarboni.com/
i've seen all sorts of "create a glossy orb" tutorials.. but those are all for circular shapes.. and most of the "glossy button" tutorials i've seen have a rather 'straight' reflection line, or they just look silly.
can anybody tell me how to create this glossy/glass texture on a rectangluar shape with that "realistic" reflection?
i am looking to make some shiny rough text effect as shown in below image how can i make it like this? and also how i can create some glossy and shiny effect as shown in below image?
I created my avatar using Paint.NET years ago: Â It is looking dated (to me), so I had been thinking about sprucing it up. Â I decided I would remove the ugly text "jp2code", throw a transparent Glossy Button effect over it, and put my text on top of the glossy button as an Etched Glass effect. Â So, I look up and start reading up on a couple of the better glossy button tutorials:
Making glass buttons, and Buttons (ymd:110331)
I have used them both before with great success, but this time proved difficult. Neither of them seems to have a good way to use a background image. Â The best approach I found was to create a ymd button using a light gray background and setting the opacity down to 150 or so. Â The end result looks no where near as nice as I had pictured in my head:
As you can see, it is very dark, does not look like a Glass Button, and I have not found a good Etched Glass effect. Â How to brighten up the Glossy Button without washing out the background?
I am new to offset printing, working for a church that is creating a great new graphic identity. I am working with a local graphic designer to print our newly designed items, and the first item we sent to print was a small envelope for donating money. Our designer showed us a digitally printed proof that looked very close to our colour, PMS 268 C. But, once they were offset printed, they were much lighter, close to PMS 268 UC. I was very disappointed, and realized I should have requesting coated stock, and I feel my designer is to blame for not mentioning this to me/showing me a misleading proof. Now we need to get a letter head printed, and she tells me that to match a Solid coated colour we must use glossy paper (she says glossy=coated). It is mind boggling to me that a digital printer can produce deeper, richer colours on uncoated paper than an offset printer can. I certainly don't want a glossy letterhead, but I cannot settle for such a inaccurate colour match. Is there anyway to get a match to a coated colour on uncoated or at least non-glossy paper?
I really like the look of graphic reflections I just don't know how to make them look good. I usually make a copy of the graphic to be relected and flip it upside down and position it correctly. At this point I don't know ho to proceed. It seems that the reflection should go from mostly opaque to fully transparent. How do you do that in Photoshop?
