I'm working on a PC in windows 7 and using CS5. I have Extensis Suitcase Fusion 3 for font management but someone told me that this may be why my Illustrator in particular is so slow. I frequently have to sit and wait for it to catch up to me while the top title bar says "Not responding". I don't want to give up my suitcase font manager - I really like it. Surely these programs can get along??
View 1 RepliesI have Photoshop CS5.5 with Suitcase Fusion 15.0.5. When I use any kind of typeface in a Photoshop file it appears jagged. When I rasterized the type, the edges are still jagged. It does display the correct font and not defaulting to a generic one. It is just that the curved edges are bad.
I am to figure out if this is a Photoshop or Suitcase issue. I have reinstalled the suitcase plugin, no change. Reset Photoshop to it's defaults. My other apps (e.g. Adobe, Apple and Microsoft), the fonts look great.
The Illustrator and InDesign CC versions cannot read my fonts in Suitcase Fushion 3. Is there any solutions?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I hit the save for web menu item it can take 5-30 seconds for the dialog box to launch (cs6). Seems that cs6 is doing some heavy disk activity but not sure what its actually writing or doing but I have a fast machine with lots of memory and plenty of CPU yet I get these VERY long delays. All I can find on this problem is that people had suitcase instaslled and I do not. So how I determine what is going on so I can stop this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 for two years now, and for some reason it seems to have the problem of slowing down after using it for a while, so if I'm working on a project I have to keep closing it and reopening it to get it fast again. It's weird because it doesn't seem to matter how much stuff is on the canvas, it's just how much I've drawn and hit undo and erased or did anything, After like 5 minutes of straight work it just gets too slow for me to work in, like when I switch tools or change the color it takes a couple seconds to respond. So literally every couple minutes I have to restart Photoshop and open the same file.
What's really odd is that sometimes Photoshop will work perfectly fine and stay lightning fast for hours. Like, for the last couple of months it's been 100% fine, but since a few days ago it started to have this "slowing down" issue again. It can't be my computers specs or my settings in Photoshop, but I will tell you all of that anyway.

I am working with revit since 08, and there was this little annoying bug - in the middle of working process some levels become super slow - adding walls becomes a big task. At the beginning everything works great, but (I suspect) at some point I add curtain inside the room, something goes wrong and the level becomes slow.
It does not work even if I remove curtain walls or purge unused or duplicate window or make separate plan view - if floor area with several basic walls is visible level becomes slow.
So I got a sequence with a keylight effect, then I want to use auto-trace function.
The source is a 1080p mp4 but the effect is applied on about a quarter of the surface (that's to say I use a mask to cover the area I don't want to process)
The length is about 16 minutes.
Everything start smoothly frames are processed quiet well maybe 10 every 5 seconds and then it slows up after about three hours of processing I got maybe one frame per 5 seconds.
I've activated multriprocessing with 3 GB reserved for other programs. 1.5GB per core, it says 7 cores will be used.

Should I get 32GB of RAM as it seems to be limiting my cpu ? Any way to use GPU instead ?
I'm now using Photoshop CS6 and I've noticed that selecting all layers is having a major drain of CPU.I've run Activity Monitor and with SAL on the %CPU is showing 238! This seems crazy, but I can't work out why? There must be an error in CS6?
Even without SAL on the %CPU is still reading 131.I am using the mixer brushes and I am aware that these are a big problem in PS, but should it be this bad?

I bought a font package and using photoshop to test my fonts always starts out okay. But by the time I cycle through say...40 options things go to hell in a handbasket and SLOOOOOW down. is it the fonts slowing me down? I have a 4gb RAM 2.4 ghz core duo. Is there another option I can use to test out fonts before putting them in photoshop?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have maya 2012 student down load. i have a fresh install of windown7 64 bit and all the latest downloads and drivers.i am running a intell 2 quad core @2.4 ghz with 8 gigs of ram. my paging file on my main harddrive is at 15085 to 30000 mb. i open the maya 12 program and it runs fine for a while up to an hour or more then it starts slowing down tell it locks up and shuts off and some times it would not have saved my lase save. i set the auto saves to every 5 min and went to work again it seems to be working fine for a bout 30 min or so and it is asking me to auto save and i do tell it crashes again i look to reopen the save file and find it did not save any fo my auto saves. i have been battling this problen eversence i downloaded it, i even download the auto desk hot fix and installed it. the computers at my school seem to handle it fine and thay have less ram to work with .is there a paging file or memory setting for maya to increased the proforamce or any other trick that might stop me from melting my computer down for srap >8( moooo!

Tools / Options / Thumbnail Preview Settings / Sheets and Views.We had our "Performance Accuracy" set to high.Setting it at the half-way mark improved things greatly.
HOWEVER, this setting turns back to "high" when AutoCAD is restarted.So, we saved the settings to a new Workspace.It there anyway to get the accuracy to remain as set?
I'm animating a scene with a lot of trees in the background. I'm using forest pack with proxies of xfrog trees. The scene needs to look as realistic as possible but unfortunately, even though they are proxies, the trees are killing my render time.
Any good way that I might be able enhance render time but keep the quality? Maybe another solution to placing trees without using forest pack/proxies?

I downloaded a .step file from a construction website URL..... It is of a screw. Anyway I want to edit the screw but when I open it, it opens as a weird ipt. It's like the part is an assembly but it's not a logo that I worked with before. Anyway I right click on the Base1 file and hit edit form. When I do that Autodesk Inventor Fusion opens. Is there a way I can edit this part in normal Autodesk Inventor or do I have to learn how to use the fusion program?

I went through the cuiload and loaded the cuix. file and now the icon editinfusion shows up on the ribbon. After selecting a solid object and clicking on the icon i get the same error message.
So i went to AutoCAD 2013 (not MEP) and did the same thing and it worked.
My question is, can MEP and fusion work with one another or does this strickly have to be AutoCAD and Fusion?
I'm inserting automatically many references to a couple of dynamic blocks in an AutoCAD drawing using VB.NET. If the number of inserted references is not very big, it works fine but, if I´m inserting hundreds of them, I noticed the app is slowing down a lot.
After taking some measures of the time the app uses in its execution, I noticed changing the value of the block reference property is slower as the number of inserted block increases: it takes 10 or 20 miliseconds at the begining but it can take more than 1 second after inserting one thousand of block references (to the same block).This is the function I use to change the property values:

A weird thing I noticed is that when I call this function to change the first property of an inserted block, it also changes the .Name of the block reference.
Even if I change the order in the property modification, it takes always a lot in the first call, it does not depend on the property I´m changing.
I'm trying to convert a 3D model saved as a .dwg in AutoCAD 2011 to a .stp file using Inventor Fusion Technology Preview. I did it once and it worked perfect. But since, every time I save the .dwg as a .stp in Fusion, it scales the object down to 39% of the original.

I managed to do this in AutoCAD 2013 but when I exported the iges file and imported it to AutoCAD Inventor Fusion, I get a lot of skewness. This is particularly so for the cylinders I extruded in AutoCAD 2013.I have been looking at this problem for almost a week already. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a rather complex 3D structure i have buid out of solids in AutoCAD and then colored and finnished in Inventor Fusion. The whole image was made for a journal-cover.
I drew the basic structures in AutoCAD and then transfered to Inventor where there have been added some more smooth edges and a rectangular pattern of 1000 objects.
Now in the end i find out that only one single 3D solid is too big and i want to resize/scale it.
It seems impossible for me to do that in Inventor, so I transfered the whole file back to AutoCAD. Now i have the problem that AutoCAD is recognizing my objects now only as "block references". It is easy to resize the object now, but i do not know how to get the block refences become 3D solids again and transfer them back to inventor.
If i just try to transfer the whole data or save and load Inventor isnt opening anything.
While trying to complete a Gimp tutorial I've come across this line:

What fusion mode is? And where do I find "Grain merge".
I was trying to show another user the Edit in Fusion feature in Inventor 2012 but she doesn't have that ribbon panel. We went into the Part tab in Application Options and Inventor Fusion was selected to Edit Base Solids. We even unselected it, applied it, closed the options and then selected it again. But still there is no Fusion panel under the Model tab when editing a part. Yes, it's installed on her machine. We checked.
The only difference is that she's also installed the 2013 suite, as well. I have the Fusion panel and have not installed any 2013 apps.

While doing this fusion inventor also downloaded.I was wondering could I remove Inventor as I don't use it, without that effecting my auto cad program? All I do is just basic 2D drawings on autocad and need to speed it up. Could I also remove Autodesk 2012 libary?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I want to edit a solid part in Inventor 2012, I click the "Edit Form" button which automatically launches Fusion. Units are defaulted to cm every time (I don't understand why it can't autodetect units) and the first thing I do is switch them to inches (english). I edit my part then return to Inventor. The part has been resized (smaller by a factor of 2.54) and moved off my original origin. I cannot figure out how to get around this HUGE problem. This has made Fusion useless to me and has drastically reduced the functionality of my ablility to solid edit.
If Fusion is intigrated into Inventor, why does it behave as a totally different product (reversed scroll wheel direction, different units, no refrencing between Inventor features and Fusion, etc.)? It's as if the Fusion programing team and the Inventor programming team met for just long enough to put the Fusion button in Inventor and nothing more.
I just started using Inventor and it is very slow, freezes for a few seconds, and is non responsive. My AutoCAD Architecture 2012 works just fine.
