VideoStudio :: Playback Speed In Project Mode Slowing Down
Oct 8, 2010If I playback in fragment mode, the speed is ok. But if I playback in project mode the speed is a little slowing down.
How is this possible ?

Jan 5, 2011I don't know why Corel made this program without the ability to change the playback speed in project view. You can only change the speed on each clip. When you have 50 or more clips, this can take all day, when it could take a few seconds if you can do it in project mode.

Some weeks ago I got a strange playback problem with my last uploads: video's are played in (very smooth!) slow motion mode at some resolution settings. The same Divx video's on the contrary always playback OK In order to illustrate the YT playback speed problems I uploaded two times the same 10sec video. The first video has been rendered as a fullHD AVCHD video in VSX4 (never got problems in the past with similar video’s), the second is a fullHD DviX version of that same video (from another converter). The lower resolution settings in the AVCHD video slow down while the 720 and 1080 settings run OK [URL]

However, I feel the speed is a bit too fast, and I'd like to slow it down.
I try extending the length of the clip, but this doesn't seem very effective.

VideoStudio :: Gradual Playback Speed Increase?
Mar 12, 2011I have a video shot from inside a vehicle driving down a rural French road. I would like to increase the speed to 110% to 115% as the video progresses to match the music I will overlay it with.
I know how to increase the playback speed, but I can't seem to find if it's possible to do it gradually. Everything I try increases the speed all a once. Is this possible (gradually increase speed) with the Playback Speed settings, or do I need to make two clips of the same segment, 1 at regular speed and 1 at the final speed, and use a long transition between them?

Oct 6, 2010I am playing a section of a project in Timeline view. The section is marked by the Trim Markers. Starts fine but then pauses/stops when it reaches the end of the accompanying music (an mp3) rather than at the second Trim Marker. Theses two points are different because the video fades to black as the music finishes. The video should continue to run for 2 or 3 seconds more with a black screen.
I've noticed that if I select the Sound Mixer and then play the section between the Trim Markers it works fine i.e. plays up to the second Trim Marker.
Also, it seems that if I create a video of the selected part of the project this works fine too.
I just seem to be getting the problem in Timeline view when I have black video that runs after an mp3. I have checked multiple projects where I have the same effect (fade to black as music ends) and I am getting exactly the same problem. As the sound stops, so does the playback.
Background is that I am new to X3 and struggling. I had problems authoring in X3 so used X2,. Then had a problem with X2 so re-installed. Then found this problem when editing again in X3 so reinstalled X3!
VideoStudio :: No Audio In Project Playback?
Dec 1, 2012I am not new to this software and have made many videos. The problem is that I got a new computer with Windows 8 and installed X4 VideoStudio. I can hear the sound file when I select the clip but as soon as I select Project, there is no sound. I am currently uninstalling the program and trying to reinstall.

Dec 28, 2011I'm using Videostudio x4, a recent installation on a 2 week old 'Dell Inspiron one 2320'. The computer is an 'All in One' and runs great generally.
Members, I seem to remember when I was running what was back then the Ulead version years ago, and, that it was better to have a second hard drive as a scratch disk for the realtime, or Timeline project playback, the reason I ask, I still suffer some jerky-ness when picking 'Project' in the edit playback window, I do not suffer problems when rendering the project as a final video format.
The Dell spec is the highest I could get, a i7 intel 3.8 processor, 8gig ram, 2tb HD, 1gig Nvidia Gforce GC, Intel HD sound card, with a monitor of 1920x1080 Full HD, the USB is 2.0 (3.0).
If the idea is a sound one, what changes do i make and where in the settings do I make them, also would using a 16 gig Patriot flash dongle be any good, or should I get a bigger HD for the job, either 30 to 60 gig SSD or bigger 7200rpm HD type.
VideoStudio :: X4 Playback In Edit Mode Not Smooth?
Sep 18, 2012I am using VS Pro X4 with Windows 7 home premium, Processor Intel (R) Core (TM) i7 CPU Q820 @ 1.73GHz 1.73 GHz. 8 GB RAM. 64 bit op syst. NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M. Also I am mostly using GoPro 2 Mpeg4 files (which I have updated so I can finally use it in VS) When I am edit mode and click play back to view what I have edited prior to rendering. It often plays ok until it goes from one clip to another then it starts to play jumpy or jerky video including the sound. Which makes it impossible to see how well your edit is. If I leave it for 1/2 hour or so and come back to it, it sometimes plays fine. But then add more clips to the vid or add in a transition or effect it will then play back jerky again.

May 2, 2011All the avi's (divx and xvid codec) that i load and put in the timeline have no sound in project mode. When i make a output file there is also no sound in the .avi. When i select a clip in the timeline there is sound....I Have updated divx and xvid. Using WIndows 7 32 bit pro and Videostudio X4.

Dec 27, 2011 X4. I created a 48hz sample rate 24 bit WAV file on my portable Tascam recorder.. I am creating a sales presentation for my invention. I have brought in many different videos I created on my camera and have edited them successfully with single clip and multi clip. Also have been able to split audio out of video. adjust sections using the nodes with the sound mixer.. move audio after split to different areas on the timeline.. However I need to do some voice over work. I figured it would be much easier and better quality for me to use my tascam to create the wav's and then just drop them into the project, edit them and place them where I want them, mute the voice I have on the video..
I was able to bring the .wavs in just fine.. and while editing them in clip mode they play just fine, I can shorten them or cut them where I need too. But when I choose to play back the project with the .wav in one one of the additional sound/music tracks I get very nasty static only. None of my recorded voice is audible. click to clip mode on the wav audio and it plays perfect. I tried moving it to the voice over track area and same exact problem.
am I missing a switch function somewhere? I made sure I muted the video clips above the .wav in the timeline. The manual says to use import option to bring in audio files but I do not see an import button anywhere? missing something? seems to me the drag and drop or add to library a wave file should work.. ??

Video playback is still a bit laggy. Often LR5.2 needs to load audio first while the video already starts playing. If other (even freeware) media browsers can do this without latency, why not Adobe's LR?

Jun 26, 2012I'm trying to import some clips from Avid and the clips are playing back too fast.
In Avid, the clips originated as HDV 1440x1080i 59.94 fps. I transcoded them to DVCPro 1920x1080i 59.94fps. I exported the clips from Avid using "same as source."
In Smoke, I went through the library to select and import the clips. My Smoke Cfg settings are:
30i 1280x720@5994p, project settings 1280x720.
The clips playback as if they are running at 120% (best estimate).
in the Cfg template there are settings that are similar, such as 30i 1280x720@5994p and 1280x720@5994p. Is the "30i" for interlaced footage (ie HDV and uprezed SD)?

VideoStudio :: Create Smart Package From Project File That Has Smaller Component Project Files?
Aug 22, 2011I've built a project up with several smaller project file components. It's an easier way to create a video than editing one big project.
Opening the overall project and running it on screen is not a problem. However, when I try to create a smart package of the composite project, I get a consistent error message rejecting the process because of the existence of the component vsp's.
Is there a way to avoid the error and create a smart package from a project file that has smaller component project files?
VideoStudio :: Overlay Track Speed
Aug 26, 2013When I try to combine 2 videos to play over each other (i.e. one full screen one anchored in a corner) the overlay track plays at an accelerated rate with no sound, whereas the main video will play as normal. However if I switch them around the same problem arises, the overlay video plays fine the main accelerated with no sound.
If I play them separately they will both play fine. The video I am trying to anchor was recorded with a webcam and therefore may be the problem. If I need to give more details w/ specs etc.
VideoStudio :: Speed Up Video Effect
Nov 23, 2011I'm near completion of a year long video project. I inserted several HD video clips into my VS X4 time line which includes many other HD/SD and .jpg clips along with transitions, music, etc. For effect, I used the tool in VS to speed up two or three of these clips by about 300%. Without the effect, the scene doesn't work so I'd like to keep it this way.
I noticed that when playing the clip in the time line after the effect is added, it plays very jumpy and jerky. Without the effect it plays fine as do all the other clips in my project. I am guessing the effect puts a strain on the system but mostly, my system is fine. However, the hard drive may be the culprit and not able to get the data fast enough to provide a smooth video. Is that possible? My cpu (core 2 quad Q6600 clocked to 3.0 g), new video card, memory, and monitor (HD certified) are all new and well within spec.
My question: Do you think the stuttering video will also be present in the final burn of a Blu-Ray? Or is this just a function of the preview window?

VideoStudio :: Changing Audio Speed
Aug 27, 2013I'm trying to get my audio synched up. Someone once told me that the best place for the camera is often the worst place for the microphone. And in my case it's true.
So- I am trying to use audio from a different source and the speeds are very slightly different. I have the beginnings synched perfectly. Toward the end I stomp my foot- it sounds like a door slam and is something I'm trying to use to synch the two because it's a loud sound short in time.
Doing it visually doesn't work because VideoStudio (version 2) doesn't preview the video properly. So I had the idea- don't mute the source audio so I have both playing. Then render an audio-only file and listen to hear how far apart the two stomps sound, and adjust the audio track's speed.
I've shortened it by 2 frames and 10 frames but it still sounds exactly the same. Is there a bug in the audio-shortening feature or am I missing something? I tried using Audacity to shorten the audio but that didn't work well either, because it rounds off, and 2/30th of a second over 30 min is a tiny fraction.
