Mark at DC:CADD, our AutoCAD vendor, sent us to:
Tools / Options / Thumbnail Preview Settings / Sheets and Views.We had our "Performance Accuracy" set to high.Setting it at the half-way mark improved things greatly.
HOWEVER, this setting turns back to "high" when AutoCAD is restarted.So, we saved the settings to a new Workspace.It there anyway to get the accuracy to remain as set?
So this really doesn't have much to do with objects in a drawing. Say for instance, I go into the PURGE dialogue box, and I want to select multiple layers to purge, but not all of them. If I click a layer, and the hold CTRL and click other layers, the only one that stays highlighted is the one I just clicked...so using CTRL doesn't allow me to highlight multiple entities at the same time.
It's gets a little more weird using SHIFT. The conventional SHIFT method (works in Windows Explorer and other applications) is clicking an object, holding SHIFT, and then clicking another object further down the list...this will highlight both of those entities clicked, plus every single entitiy in between them. In AutoCAD (use the PURGE dialogue box again for reference), if I click an object, hold SHIFT and click an object down the list, it will highlight the last object clicked and everything in between the two, but it will deselect the original object. Also, if I use SHIFT to select multiple objects, and then go back to the original that was deselected and hold CTRL to select it, the last object that was selected using SHIFT gets deselected.
Is there a way to turn off the Data Link Updates? I want it to be a maual process. Right now it tries to update the data links when I print. It asks if I want to skip but I have to do that everytime I print. Can I turn that off. If it updates it destroys the formatting of the table.

design Center - display order goes out the window. The inserted block is redefined but the rest of the drawing loses all its display order. sortents (127, 33, 51, etc) and displayorderctl does nothing, either before or after the block is redefined. hatches and blocks just jump to the front (display order shows as order of drawn not order as moved to) Regenall does nothing.
absolute nightmare with display order managed elevations (solid hatch, baconies, windows, multple buildings, all overlaying!!)
We have a problem with long (like 10 minute) saves.
If we go to Tools / Options / Open and Save / Thumbnail Preview Settings, in the "Sheets and Views" panel, the "Performance-Accuracy Slider" is set all the way to the right, which the Information Panel lists as "Update thumbnails when saving drawing".
If we manually slide it to the center, listed in the Information Panel as "Update thumbnails when accessed", the Save times become less than a minute.
This setting is not saved and we need to reset it each time each drawing is opened.
There has to be a setting because MY STATION did not have this problem with ANY drawing until our Supplier's Support Team got onto my computer yesterday. NOW it's a problem on my computer also.
Setting the UPDATETHUMBNAIL to "0" works, but then we have no Previews.
Setting the UPDATETHUMBNAIL to "1" does not work.
I have a sheetset setup for a group of over 100 drawings. I was approached yesterday asking why in the regular select file to open in AutoCAD some of the thumbnail previews won't show up. We checked in options and it is checked to show a preview. Only half a dozen or so of them aren't showing up.

I am using AutoCAD 2011 and am not getting my AutoCAD files thumbnail preview in windows explorer. I did reinstalled it but no use. All other programs like PDF, MS office files are showing thier preview but AutoCAD don't.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm inserting automatically many references to a couple of dynamic blocks in an AutoCAD drawing using VB.NET. If the number of inserted references is not very big, it works fine but, if I´m inserting hundreds of them, I noticed the app is slowing down a lot.
After taking some measures of the time the app uses in its execution, I noticed changing the value of the block reference property is slower as the number of inserted block increases: it takes 10 or 20 miliseconds at the begining but it can take more than 1 second after inserting one thousand of block references (to the same block).This is the function I use to change the property values:

A weird thing I noticed is that when I call this function to change the first property of an inserted block, it also changes the .Name of the block reference.
Even if I change the order in the property modification, it takes always a lot in the first call, it does not depend on the property I´m changing.
I am not able to save the changes that I make to the starting position of my scenes thumbnails when I use a Thumbnail Menu to create my DVD. I am using Video Studio X4 with Service Packs 1 and 2 installed running on Windows XP Home, SP 2 with all updates installed and DirectX 9.0. The scene changes work fine when I Preview them but they are not saved when I close the Create Disk sub-menu. When I return to the “Menu and Preview” section of the Create Disk sub-menu, the Main Menu scene change is present as is the Chapter 1 scene change but the other chapter scene changes are gone. What can I do to correct this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 for two years now, and for some reason it seems to have the problem of slowing down after using it for a while, so if I'm working on a project I have to keep closing it and reopening it to get it fast again. It's weird because it doesn't seem to matter how much stuff is on the canvas, it's just how much I've drawn and hit undo and erased or did anything, After like 5 minutes of straight work it just gets too slow for me to work in, like when I switch tools or change the color it takes a couple seconds to respond. So literally every couple minutes I have to restart Photoshop and open the same file.
What's really odd is that sometimes Photoshop will work perfectly fine and stay lightning fast for hours. Like, for the last couple of months it's been 100% fine, but since a few days ago it started to have this "slowing down" issue again. It can't be my computers specs or my settings in Photoshop, but I will tell you all of that anyway.

I am working with revit since 08, and there was this little annoying bug - in the middle of working process some levels become super slow - adding walls becomes a big task. At the beginning everything works great, but (I suspect) at some point I add curtain inside the room, something goes wrong and the level becomes slow.
It does not work even if I remove curtain walls or purge unused or duplicate window or make separate plan view - if floor area with several basic walls is visible level becomes slow.
So I got a sequence with a keylight effect, then I want to use auto-trace function.
The source is a 1080p mp4 but the effect is applied on about a quarter of the surface (that's to say I use a mask to cover the area I don't want to process)
The length is about 16 minutes.
Everything start smoothly frames are processed quiet well maybe 10 every 5 seconds and then it slows up after about three hours of processing I got maybe one frame per 5 seconds.
I've activated multriprocessing with 3 GB reserved for other programs. 1.5GB per core, it says 7 cores will be used.

Should I get 32GB of RAM as it seems to be limiting my cpu ? Any way to use GPU instead ?
I'm now using Photoshop CS6 and I've noticed that selecting all layers is having a major drain of CPU.I've run Activity Monitor and with SAL on the %CPU is showing 238! This seems crazy, but I can't work out why? There must be an error in CS6?
Even without SAL on the %CPU is still reading 131.I am using the mixer brushes and I am aware that these are a big problem in PS, but should it be this bad?

I bought a font package and using photoshop to test my fonts always starts out okay. But by the time I cycle through say...40 options things go to hell in a handbasket and SLOOOOOW down. is it the fonts slowing me down? I have a 4gb RAM 2.4 ghz core duo. Is there another option I can use to test out fonts before putting them in photoshop?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have maya 2012 student down load. i have a fresh install of windown7 64 bit and all the latest downloads and drivers.i am running a intell 2 quad core @2.4 ghz with 8 gigs of ram. my paging file on my main harddrive is at 15085 to 30000 mb. i open the maya 12 program and it runs fine for a while up to an hour or more then it starts slowing down tell it locks up and shuts off and some times it would not have saved my lase save. i set the auto saves to every 5 min and went to work again it seems to be working fine for a bout 30 min or so and it is asking me to auto save and i do tell it crashes again i look to reopen the save file and find it did not save any fo my auto saves. i have been battling this problen eversence i downloaded it, i even download the auto desk hot fix and installed it. the computers at my school seem to handle it fine and thay have less ram to work with .is there a paging file or memory setting for maya to increased the proforamce or any other trick that might stop me from melting my computer down for srap >8( moooo!

I have Extensis Suitcase Fusion 3 for font management but someone told me that this may be why my Illustrator in particular is so slow. I frequently have to sit and wait for it to catch up to me while the top title bar says "Not responding". I don't want to give up my suitcase font manager - I really like it. Surely these programs can get along??

I'm animating a scene with a lot of trees in the background. I'm using forest pack with proxies of xfrog trees. The scene needs to look as realistic as possible but unfortunately, even though they are proxies, the trees are killing my render time.
Any good way that I might be able enhance render time but keep the quality? Maybe another solution to placing trees without using forest pack/proxies?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a drawing boarder block, which I need to edit some of the text.
When I open it up in the Block Editor and click on some of the text, I get a pop up with the fields in. When I change a value and close, it is reflected in the block. All normal.
However, with another text field, when I click it, it wont select, but just selects the other block of text. Of the three blocks I have, I can only edit one of them.
The strange thing is, if I am in the normal layout view, and double click the problem text I then get the pop up with all the fields and their values. Only when I change one of them it is not reflected on the viewpoint.
I know it's not good to use annotative blocks with structure styles because the structure simply will not show up. I've never had any issues thus far using annotative blocks with point styles, but we're getting ready to move to 2013. Our surveyors use the survey database and I wanted to know if they will run into any problems with desc keys using annotative blocks.
Is it bad practice to have blocks set up as annotative? My gut tells me it's not bad practice, but I haven't used desc keys and survey databases much with my block libraries.

Anyways I tried looking for a way to do it in flash and was unsucessful, if anyone knows a way to do it in flash that would be my prefference as I dont use Photoshop too often. However I could do it in photoshop and import it into my movie.

How do I backup all of my brushes and save all of my presets and custom settings? I want to be sure that the new version of Photoshop will run all of my custom settings.

i'm trying to automate a few functions,
what i would like to do is to export each window, to separate files, with the white parts cropped. i can do it manually by using the magic wand on the white area in between, then inversing the selection. that way all the windows are selected perfectly. but to save each one as a separate file is a nuisance.
by the way the purpose of this task is to get a comic i have scanned to an ipod for viewing. i can do the cropping/resizing afterwards no troubles, it's just getting the individual 'windows' as separate files.
In Autocad I'm programmatically settign the alignment of an attribute to MiddleCenter. Looking at the attribute I can see that the alignment is set properly. However, the alignment does visually update itself.
I'm able to manually update the allignment if I open the Enhanced Attribute Editor and make any change. If any property is updated, the attribute "realizes" it needs to update the alignment.
How can I make AutoCAD automatically update the alignment? Here is a current snippet of my code. In this particular instance "result" will contain 004 as a string:
