I'm currently running Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Macromedia Dreamweaver MX (version 6). I want to install CS3 (full suite). Is there anything I should know before I make the upgrade? Can I install CS3 without first removing my dated versions of Dreamweaver and Photoshop?
How do I backup all of my brushes and save all of my presets and custom settings? I want to be sure that the new version of Photoshop will run all of my custom settings.
With installing CS3, will any of my Dreamweaver settings be overwritten? Will the new Dreameaver maintain my defined sites and preferences?
In Bridge, I have a portrait orientation shot that I want marked, and I hit "8" for the green label and it changes the orientation to landscape, every time! Huh? CS2 never did that...
Can someone tell me the name of these accent, swirly things? I am looking at using them in a design and want to find some custom shapes that look like these or a font that has them.
I'm making a flash movie and I wanted to have a cookie fall into a glass of milk. I know that sounds sorta weird but its just a preview for some stuff.
Anyways I tried looking for a way to do it in flash and was unsucessful, if anyone knows a way to do it in flash that would be my prefference as I dont use Photoshop too often. However I could do it in photoshop and import it into my movie.
how to make something slightly trancelucent or even just make me a glass of milk that'd be great.
i've been using PS for ages now while i was making a new sig just i tried to write some words onto it but its not letting me write at all, even when i make a new layer nothing comes up,
what i would like to do is to export each window, to separate files, with the white parts cropped. i can do it manually by using the magic wand on the white area in between, then inversing the selection. that way all the windows are selected perfectly. but to save each one as a separate file is a nuisance.
by the way the purpose of this task is to get a comic i have scanned to an ipod for viewing. i can do the cropping/resizing afterwards no troubles, it's just getting the individual 'windows' as separate files.
, theres only the layers on the menu how do i get those missing things back up?. Also, how do i re-attach it to the right side of photoshop where it starts out, no i can move it around...
Got one of those Graphics Tablets to draw with and would like some ideas of projects I could do in Photoshop using it. I'm guessing a lot of you use graphic tablets (like Wacom) in your work.
I just fool around in Photoshop, but would like to have some kind of goal instead of just minor edits and scribbling. Any ideas? What do you guys do with your tablet in PS?
how to take things from one image and place it other.
In the tutorial the guy took himself out of his his everyday photos and placed himself in photos with sceneries and people from other countries and called it his digital vacation.
Unlike most of these cheesy tutorials all of his looked like he was really there in these scenes even placed in groups of people it looked real.
I didn't even think about it then but I'd like to do some of that with pictures I have but can't for the life of me find a good tutorial on how to do it. There's so many websites anymore and most of them are just for Adsense with 100's of links.
I am trying to print things out from illustrator, but it wont print anything black! it prints colour and everything fine, but what is ment to be black comes out grey. there is nothing wrong with the printer as it prints out fine from other programmes!
When I use the art history brush at a very small size, it acts very weird. As soon as I click in the document, a bunch of snake like things appear all over. Like a bunch of little worms spreading all over the page. I've trashed my prefs, I've reset my tool, I've tried different brushes, I've checked scattering, noise, etc. in my brush settings, I've checked my blend modes, pretty everything I can think of doing, and they are still doing it.
How do you get the lines an easy way? I was wracking my brain and I just couldnt figure it out. I tried doing clouds, and making the lightning type thing then using satin for some shading etc... But it doesnt look really lasery, and i had to reduce the size alot.
i have installed photoshop cs6 on my computer and have this problem... usually when im resizing and transforming things, either the canvas goes blank (black) or outside the canvas in the photoshop window get pixelated (the pixel grid shows up) and it is glitchy.[URL]...
Every time I try to use the magic wand tool to erase things from a picture the program says there is a problem either look online for a solution or close the program and I choose to look online but it just closes the program down completely. I had not been having any trouble at all and it just immediately started doing this and I had been using the very same tools as I am trying to use now. I am extremely frustrated and I even deactivated the program, uninstalled it, and then reinstalled thinking this would fix it.
Is there a way to select things on an angle? The default selection tool is a rectangular shape, I need something linear that I can draw. Like draw a line through several elements and everything that line touches it selects.
I have done some interviews using a Nikon D90 (only thing at hand; build in microphone and bad audio). Now I need to clean the sound and focus on human voice – and hope the Audio Filter in VS will do the job.
If I split audio to apply filters, can I then continue to edit my project just as before – or will I break things when adding new clips, photos, titles etc.?
I've been playing around with Gimp and making some wallpapers and stuff recently. I'd really like to know how to do something like this: [URL]
It's really hard to explain what exactly I want to know, but I'd like to make something similar with a collage of smaller pictures that all sort of merge into each other like they do in the example. Questions:
- How do I get the backgrounds (of the whole thing, and each separate image) to just fade out/into each other so seamlessly?
- Is there a way to make a layer transparent in some parts but not in others?
Ive figured out how to scale images and remove their backgrounds, but when I go to paste them in a new location I lose their scaling.
What I'm trying to do is put multiple pictures (the items are scaled to actual size, which is important) onto a single 8.5 x 11 page.
So, I've taken some of my pictures, opened their files scaled them to where they need to be, and then removed the backgrounds. I saved that as a new file.
How would I then take those files and place them, with the scale I made them, into something that is this 8.5 x 11 page size.
When I try to do it now, it doesn't keep the scale.
Things keep dissappearing / appearing like text/pics whilst I'm working on Indesign CS6 files ? We have only had it installed about 3 weeks ago and never had this problem before and have been using Indesign for years ?
Tools / Options / Thumbnail Preview Settings / Sheets and Views. We had our "Performance Accuracy" set to high.Setting it at the half-way mark improved things greatly.
HOWEVER, this setting turns back to "high" when AutoCAD is restarted. So, we saved the settings to a new Workspace. It there anyway to get the accuracy to remain as set?
Now I am very limited in my use of Xara Xtreme but I am currently needing to create an image of a world globe and around it (maybe even spewing out of it) I would require like something that conveys technology.
i have a drawing boarder block, which I need to edit some of the text.
When I open it up in the Block Editor and click on some of the text, I get a pop up with the fields in. When I change a value and close, it is reflected in the block. All normal.
However, with another text field, when I click it, it wont select, but just selects the other block of text. Of the three blocks I have, I can only edit one of them.
The strange thing is, if I am in the normal layout view, and double click the problem text I then get the pop up with all the fields and their values. Only when I change one of them it is not reflected on the viewpoint.
I've been using Apple's Aperture program, but now that I'm subscribed to CS Cloud, I want to try Lightroom.I installed Lightroom. During the installation process, I created a new folder for storing information about photos @ Users/myname/Pictures/Lightroom/Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat
Then I read an article about exporting images from Aperture to Lightroom that said you should set things up on an external hard drive, because your image collection is eventually going to be too big for your internal hard drive.
I'm not a photographer (yet), but I have thousands of images that I use on several different websites. My biggest project is an online encyclopedia of life that will feature countless images of plants and animals.I have six websites, and I decide to create a library for each of the first five, plus half a dozen libraries for the biology site (Mammals, Birds, Plants, etc.). And let's also say I set up shop on an external hard drive.
Will the information for all these libraries be stored in the folder Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat on my computer? Or do I need to create a new .lrcat folder on my external hard drive? Will I need a separate .lrcat folder for each library?
I'd prefer to export all my images from Aperture into Lightroom in a library (or libraries) in my internal hard drive - for now. When it gets too big, then I can move it to an external hard drive.
I know it's not good to use annotative blocks with structure styles because the structure simply will not show up. I've never had any issues thus far using annotative blocks with point styles, but we're getting ready to move to 2013. Our surveyors use the survey database and I wanted to know if they will run into any problems with desc keys using annotative blocks.
Is it bad practice to have blocks set up as annotative? My gut tells me it's not bad practice, but I haven't used desc keys and survey databases much with my block libraries.
So this really doesn't have much to do with objects in a drawing. Say for instance, I go into the PURGE dialogue box, and I want to select multiple layers to purge, but not all of them. If I click a layer, and the hold CTRL and click other layers, the only one that stays highlighted is the one I just clicked...so using CTRL doesn't allow me to highlight multiple entities at the same time.
It's gets a little more weird using SHIFT. The conventional SHIFT method (works in Windows Explorer and other applications) is clicking an object, holding SHIFT, and then clicking another object further down the list...this will highlight both of those entities clicked, plus every single entitiy in between them. In AutoCAD (use the PURGE dialogue box again for reference), if I click an object, hold SHIFT and click an object down the list, it will highlight the last object clicked and everything in between the two, but it will deselect the original object. Also, if I use SHIFT to select multiple objects, and then go back to the original that was deselected and hold CTRL to select it, the last object that was selected using SHIFT gets deselected.
