I'm New to illustrator. I would like these bricks to get small as they go to the right. When I reshape them it cuts the bricks instead of resizing. How to get this effect of the bricks getting smaller.

I want to cut a path in half. I've searched far and wide around the internet on how to do it but couldn't find any results.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Illustrator CS6, I used the pen tool to create an elipsoid "shape" by creating a path and giving it stroke and fill, I made a second one ot top of the first, now the second one covers the first at about mid level and I want to cut the top part of the first shape/path, that is showing, off.
I have tried with various methods but with strange results.
Cs6 here.... I am trying to cut out a simple shape to allow the area under the shape to be trasnparent or Alpha. Like a Mask. Except when I use the Mask it does at it should do and mask the area where the shape is and MASKING or removing the areas not under the mask. I tried Compound path but I am not getting any result from it. My shape stays right on top of my work and does not "cut it out" to allow the Background to shine through as an alpha channel. See pics for clarity. I want to reverse this where the circle is cut out and the rest stays visible...
View 11 Replies View RelatedI want to make the A shape as if it was composed from the grouped hexagons from B. the hexagons from B are grouped and the shape from A was made from two elipses and function Minus Front prom pathfinder.
I've tried all the functions from pathfinder in all ways but some don't give a result(I don't need explanation for this) and some do not work as I wish.
I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
In illustrator, is there a way to reduce anchors points in a segment path without altering the path?
Is there a better and more efficient way to reduce anchors points than using the pen-minus tool?
I've tried every permutation of copy and paste; I renamed the path to path. It looks like a path when I add stroke, but it does not behave like one. I can't cut it or join it to any other path. It remembers it's text path status. I'm running OS X 10.7.5.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI accidentally converted a path to a text path. I searched the forum for how to convert it back to a regular path. The answer I found said to select the path and hit Command+C+F. This gives me another text path! I now have at least 6 copies of the path in my files but they are ALL text paths and none are visible with a stroke.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded an eps file, which I need to cut. I use a graphtec ce5000-60 cutter, and a plugin called cutting master 2 in order to use coreldraw.
when i select application launcher and choose cut / plot, it opens cutting master. when i do this, it only shows the 2 outer lines of the logo i need to cut. I have attached a screenshot so you can see exactly what I mean. I have tried lots of things to recitfy this, but as a complete beginner with this software, I really dont have a clue.
Is there a way to cut a solid into two pieces using a non-planar cutting plane? I have been tasked with calculating the volume of concrete damage in a chute block. I have a sketch of the damage on the chute block. I created the chute block as a solid and then drew the damaged area extents using plines. This created non-planar plines. Is there a way to get this to work that will allow me to see the volume of the concrete damage? I need an easy way to do this, there are 50 chute blocks all the same size but with varying degrees of damage

They don't intersect, exactly, a straight path ends at a curved path, but I need the end of the straight path to be curved, to make it look like the two meet perfectly. The two gray paths (a single path, then path->offset for the second) are the outside of a shield shape. The two black lines (paths) just surround text, but currently they overlap the gray paths.

Is there a way to change the path so that it lines up perfectly with the edge...meaning it's a perfect clean intersect, not just the lower right end of the path lining-up at the edge, but the top right too.

So i dropped the image into illustrator, and made a clipping mask, but if i go to save it, or print it, it tries to print space where the image is, even though it's only inside the vector outline. Kind of confusing with the wording, see pics, but I just want the vector to cut out of the image, and get rid of the rest of the image.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to save from Illustrator in .dwg format, for laser cutting. However the scale shown in Illustrator is not the same scale in the .dwg when they look at it at the laser cutting firm.
btw when I export in .dwg format the setting for scale is set at 1 centimeter = 1 unit. I don't know what they mean by unit however.
I want to cut (or copy) a section from an image on my artboard, but I can't see to find a way to do it. For example, in Microsoft paint I can use the select tool to draw a rectangle around part of the image and Copy or Cut that selection into the clipboard and paste it back.
I know I can cut this out and paste it onto an Artboard, but I am curious about the capability in Illustrator.

For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a pdf which is approx 25 pages, the original dimensions are 2500 x 2500. The pages are made up of text over artwork and I need to be able to resize the entire artwork and text to 384 x 512. Or the aspect ratio matching the same like 2048 x 1536. So far I converted the pdf to separate pdfs and opened each in Illustrator CS6 and need to first make the artwork smaller and then the text. Is there a set way to do this as I already tried creating a new doc in ai set for the new dimensions and copying and pasting the artwork. This is not that hard as the artwork I can manipulate but the problem is the text where some of it has strokes and other paths that make up each letter. I tried to ungroup but having a hard time. Would be great if I could just lift the text and just scale down.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an effect of small text following the outline of very large bold block text (see picture). The idea I had was to first create the 'ME' in very large font as text. Then convert that text to an object / path using "Object -> Flatten Transparency... -> "Convert all text to outline"". Then, select that path and use the "Type along path" tool.
However, when I use that process, the resulting path is a compound path that therefore the Type Along Path tool doesn't work. Any pointers on how to achieve this? The image below I just used the pencil to trace the letters (quick and dirty) but the result is choppy, etc.
I have only just got into using illustrator, after using photoshop for ages and getting bored with it, I have just made a vector image taken from a stock photo >here< at the moment it consists of 4 layers, one background white layer, a layer which has all the colour fills on, a layer with the outlines on it, and a final layer with some touch ups.
I realise now I should have made it in a much bigger size as I have been working on it at 400% and then scaled it down again on the nav and it just looks pathetic.
is there a way of resizing it as it is? or would I have to mess around with different progs and file formats?
I have had a quick browse to see if theres a thread on this subject, but cant seem to see anything of use.
