Illustrator :: How To Get Rid Of Edge Lines In Image
May 24, 2012
I'm working on an image that is made up of lines that have been created with an additional stroke from the appearance tool. I've overlayed several pieces, and where they overlap, I get a mysterious faint cut line. Additionally when I put a clipping mask to trim it out, the clipping mask creates a similar faint line on the edge. See red arrows below. This is Illustrator 5.1 from CS5.5 and saved as an EPS and placed into an ID document. It prints fine without these, but when I'm making a press quality pdf, they show up. How to remove these?

I have a Photoshop image, which has been edited down to a shape of a person, with a transparent background. I would like to use this image in Illustrator, and do not need it to be vector, but would like the object to be shaped like the image, rather than a rectangle. How do I get the Illustrator to read the edge of the image as the edge of the object?

Here I have a vector image. The pink stroke is a cut path that the software I use at work recognises and cuts. (Used for vinyl decals/stickers etc). All the lines highlighted in pink is useless to me, as it would cut out each individual line.
All I need is the outer edge of the entire graphic.
Note my crudely drawn red lines that border the image, that is exactly what I need. As you can see, the paths run through the image. BUT...When I try to erase the paths using add anchor point then cut path at selected anchor points so I can remove that particular segment, the colour essentially "leaks" as it isn't a closed area anymore. Rasterizing the image destroys the quality and I would like to be able to perform this task without loss of quality.

I have been a Photoshop hobbyist. Now I own a printing business. This has forced me into the world of Illustrator for our printing and cutting machines. Although I am very comfortable with PS, Illustrator. One of the key things is making "Cut lines" in Illustrator to send to the cutting program. Now here is my dillema, all of my images I have made are in Photoshop. To make these cut lines I have to stroke the image. When I bring a picture into Illustrator I can not get it to stroke that picture. It just strokes the box around it, or unless I draw a circle or shape around it and stroke that shape. Please refer to the picture I have attached. The first one is a decal that we initially made. The second is the image that I want to stroke for cut lines do I can just have that as a decal without the white circle.

How to make the lines on this image smooth. You will see in the picture that there is some really choppy lines on the headphones and how to properly fix it. I've tried so many times and can't do it.

This image appears to have jagged edges on all of the paths. I created outlines for the text and converted strokes to path, but i can not seem to figure out how to make the image's path edges appear smooth. The image above is a png file but the image still appears this way when i view the ai version in illustrator.

I am currently using Illustrator CS 5.1 and am having an issue with my PDF files. I have a graphic that I am building and when I import an image, place a clipping mask around it and then add a drop shadow to it, everything works fine and looks exactly as I want it on screen. However, when I save the document as a pdf, a hazy white line appears around the edges of the image.
However, the line is not on the clipping mask itself, instead it is on the square edges of the unmasked version of the image. So when I have 10 masked items on the page with drop shadows, I'm getting 10 faint white squares around each of the images which looks terrible.

I am making a business card in Illustrator 6.
I placed an image of my black signature with transparent background on the white background business card, and now it is leaving a box were that signature image canvas ends. This happens with both a .psd and .pnd files.
Now if I could just go into photoshop and extend the canvas and leave the image the same size that would be great. When I try to do this though there is still the old canvas boundary line.
If I was able to start all over I would have had the original canvas size way wider than the image of my signature that I drew on it. That way it's boundaries would now be outside of my business cards boundries and I would not be seeing those black boundary lines.

When I go to crop or move an image close to the edge of the canvas it jumps to the edge. I am having trouble especially with cropping the space between the image and the edge of the canvas the way I want it. turning off this jumping to edge problem I'm having?
Also, I've used CS4 a fair bit and haven't come across this same problem but in PE when I'm editing things like adjusting text on a layer and I'm changing options with hotkeys to resize the text box for eg, Elements seems to jump to the background layer quite alot and then I have to click back on the layer I want to edit between changing tools. Is it something to do with the Esc key?

What I need to do correctly, I'm sure the picture will explain better. I know I could use multiple masks stacked on top of each other or some similar method, but I'm looking for something less convoluted and neater.

I am a bit of a newbie to illustrator cs6. I have been using the image trace function so that I can edit my hand drawn pictures. I 'Place' the scan of my drawing and then go to Object>Image Trace>Make and Expand. The problem I have is when I want to join two lines together to close the shape (as below).
I have tried simply dragging the anchor points and reshaping the line so it appeared to be closed, I have tried closing it with the pen tool and I have tried to 'path>join' them but this box comes up.
I want to be able to fill my image traces with colour easily, can this be done?

I have a problem with premiere pro cs6 every time I export my video I get weird green lines on the left and bottom sides of my video. I'm working with different aspect ratios and frame rates in my timeline but I heard thats ok. This has been a pain since every thing is ok only the green lines on the edge of my video ruin my viewing experience.

I need to transform a lot of dashed (single) lines into separate lines... Who can tell me how to do this in a few clicks. I don't need an outline of the dashed line. So the black dashes I need, the white in between the dashes I want to loose.
See the example. I need the second lines.

I was just going through the files for our main printed catalog, updating everything and turning individual pages into pdfs for the website, and once again ran into this anomaly. Often, photos with a white background would be processed for the pdf with a black kind of ragged edge line, appearing to be slightly offset from the actual cropping edge from DRAW. This has been an intermittent problem for as long as I can remember. I suspect Adobe is at fault, but what is the solution? I can re-crop the photo and regenerate a new pdf and sometimes that works, but not for a lot of these pics.

Is it possible to get the text color to FadeIn or the opacity of the text color to animate with the lines of code below? I simply want the color to fade in when the mouse rolls over the text.
Symbol.bindElementAction(compId, symbolName, "${_writing_btn}", "mouseover", function(sym, e) sym.$("writing_btn").css("color","#88ACBE");
});

I want to blur just one edge of an image in my site header, so it fades into the white background rather than retaining a sharp edge. I could finally get the effect (using an alpha channel and Refine Edge) but couldn't get it to stick when saving.
I read that JPGs can't accommodate alpha channels but even a tif didn't work.
I tried different functions like Refine Edge, feather, etc - all to no avail. I was working in PSD.

I have an image that i need to print onto canvas and wrap around a one inch thick frame. The image i have been given is tightly cropped and i know that i will lose some of the detail around the edge once i wrap it around the canvas. Is there anyway i can clone the edge, or any other technique, to effectively make the picture larger so what i actually wrap around the frame are extra pixels and not the actual image itself...

I am producing an advert for a client that is going to appear in the UK Top Gear magazine.
Top Gear magazine is landscape only but the gyroscope functions are still available.
I'm looking to rotate the device 180 degrees and then the background image changes. Is it possible in DPS or even using Edge Animate content through DPS.
I'm looking to produce this without a HTML coder.

I'm practicing with Refine Edge and moving subjects from one image to another. What do you look for in an image that you use Refine Edge with to determine if it looks good/believable after an object or person is extracted from a background. Besides making sure that the edge is not jagged, hairs are not clumpy, details around an edge are not too soft, are there other things that will make someone looking at an image know that it was extracted from another location?

design an image / animation like the one shown below, in software (probably Photoshop), and then import this image into Adobe Edge for the user to interact with.
1. Should Photoshop be used if I am considering importing into Edge (File Size issues?)
2. Is Adobe Edge suitable to animate this design? - Why? (Note: I am looking for the pitch to rotate and stop at certain frames when user will click on certain links.
3. This is planned to be hosted on a CMS Joomla, where users will have access to certain animaitons based on membership (tiered) - Why?
