My ai files are constantly being locked by windows explorer. This means I am unable to delete or rename them. To try and resolve this I have disabled Win7 Indexing, turned off the preview pane and have tried ending the explorer process then restarting it (sometimes works). I don't know what else to try.
View 1 RepliesI have been deleting, or rather, REMOVING files as I edit a wedding, I assumed they would go to the recycle bin which I could empty at a later date, this is not the case and now when I start up LR it is telling me that I am running critically low on disc space on my c drive and that I need to delete the files.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing Vista 64 Viewing PSP files with explorer has proven to be a pain. I have installed Fast Picture Viewer and the PSP file handler and none do anything. I have folder options setup correctly. With X2 I had no problems but starting with X4 and now X5 I have to guess what the file is by the name. I only save PSP files when in layers. PSD don't show either when in layers but do show as a single file (not PSP though). There must be some way to see a thumbnail. I can't even see them from within PSPX5 itself while in Edit mode until I open it up. Why does Corel not make at Codex so we can view their own product properly. Also I know I can browse using the Manage section of PSP but prefer not too as it has alway been too buggy, I only use the edit section.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Corel Draw and Photo-Paint for many years, on many versions of Windows, and as far as I remember, Windows Explorer has always shown a thumbnail for a .cpt file instead of the plain icon.
I've now got a Windows 7 machine (professional version 64 bit), and .cpt files show up as plain white icons, instead of thumbnails.
Inventor 2013 and DWG trueview and Inventor View 2013 (or 2014) on a windows 7 computer.
Trying to launch files from an Intranet site. The files always want to come up in a browser window.
In windows XP, I was able to go into File Types and override this by specifying the program (sometimes).
In Windows 7 the File Types have been redone.
I want these files to launch in their respective programs ( .dwg files in trueview, .idw files in Inventor View).
Things I've tried:
Resetting internet explorer settings.
Disabling all addons
Changing security settings to low
Thumbnails in Windows Explorer no longer show .rfa files after installing Revit 2013.

The computer still has Revit 2013 installed, and thumbnails worked before installing 2014.
How can I preview an Ai file in Windows 7 Explorer? I am able to view previews of .jpg files just fine, but no Ai, .psd, .esp, etc.

The problem is:
From within Windows Explorer, I can only open 1 Illustrator file at a time. To get a different file to open, I either have to drag and drop the second file into the tabs under the menubar, or I need to quit Illustrator and re-open it. Also, I can not open additional files from Explorer one-at-a-time if one is already open.

Quirks:
If I go to File -> Open I can select multiple files from within the Open File dialogue window and they open just fine. but i can't do it from within windows explorer.This used to work and now it doesn't.

Seriously? 137 views and no replies? No one has run into this before?
My problem is that i had to re-instate windows xp plus all my software and since doing this some of my files on my external HD will not open i try and i get the error message "could not complete the request because the file is locked. use the properties command in windows explorer to unlock the file" i dont know how to get the files viewable again photoshop opens ok it just doesnt open the pictures ....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI opened up a few files in Photoshop 7, and when I was done working on them, they wouldn't save saying they were locked. I closed the files without saving them, and then selected them in the folder, right clicked, went to properties, and unchecked "read only." I was able to work on them and save them after that, but then I noticed they had disappeared from the folder. I have gone to folder options and checked "show hidden files." I have searched for them. When I click on the shortcut for them, it says the file is no longer there and it is not in my recycle bin. Have I lost these files for good?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I export a jpg file from my laptop with windows 7, the file has a lock on it. I don't have the drawing locked but the file shows up locked when I try to email or view and the clarity of the jpg is fuzzy. I don't have this problem when working on my computer with windows xp. Also when the jpg is  locked, it does not read on my mobile phone. What do I have set wrong?
Also on my XP computer when exporting the page is black but exports fine. I would rather see the file I am exporting, I have looked at all the settings but don't see why this is happening.
When I select multiple PS tabs and Publish them all to a pdf, the pdf file that is created has a small lock next to it UNLESS I select AutoCAD's default location (my documents). If I select a project folder and name the pdf whatever I want, it puts the small lock. If I let it put it wherever it wants, it doesn't.
Even if I change the default location through Publish Options, it will add the lock. I need to be able to select different folders every time so I need the option of selecting where to put it.
How to stop it from making files with the lock icon on them?
Trying to create my first animated gif. I have 8 .ico files that i converted to .png to open them. once all are open i try to combine into one file with 8 layers but am unable to do it!?!? If I click on the main layer in any file it shows as locked and says "Indicates layer is partially locked".

I can hold down the alt key and click on the icon (tool) and it switches but it doesn't have the drop down menu when I right click on it. View 1 Replies View RelatedI"ve just recently upgraded to CDGraphics Suite X5 (from 12), along with Windows 7 and M.Office 2010. When trying to export jpg's I've got 2 problems:
a) Jpg files that I"m now exporting seem to have so many more "options" for exporting and are automatically exporting colours as CMYK. Some of the software programs that I use (for programming digital signage) require jpg files in RGB. Is there a way to set this as a default instead of having to change this everytime I export? (note that I have "checked" the embed colour profile option for my US Web Coated Pantones).Â
b) The default for exporting is also set at "custom" - should I always be changing this to either medium or large, or can I just leave it at custom. Often I am just emailing jpg's for approval purposes, so I don't always need large file sizes. Does custom set it to the largest possible file size?
I found a tab at the top of the export window that says "Load Presets" and lists for example "low quality jpg.xml" what is this for?
c) when I look at my jpg files in my documents folders they appear "locked" with a little lock on them. Old jpg files created in CD12 don't have this little "lock" icon on them. I have checked the properties and see that these files give full access for modification etc, so I can't figure out why they may be locked.
I would like to make a document which he can open in illustrator and only can edit the layers with text.The layers with my illustrations must be locked and not be editable.Who knows how i can save this document?And is it possible to do this with a PDF-document?

when layers are not grouped in a parent, and you are working on 1 layer with an item you want unlocked, just that/those items unlock.

However when working with grouped layers, and you are on 1 unlocked layer and select the same unlock command, ALL layers become unlocked!

When I open Illustrator and create a new artboard, I cannot edit or interact with the artboard. No matter what tool I select, the cursor indicates that the artboard/layer is not editable but the layer is definitely not locked.

I am working on a project and when I try to copy and paste unlocked layers to paste them in to another image it doesn't paste. The only thing it pastes is the text unformatted. I tried resetting the settings by removing the setting file to see if I can set Illustrator back to square one and it isn't working. See Picture for before (copy) and After (paste)

I am also using windows 8 on a pc. I would say it was the OS but it was working fine untill yesterday.
In CS5, when you have locked objects within a group or layer, you can still select the whole group/layer at once. And with the group/layer selected, any transform/cut/etc will affect everything in the group/layer, including the locked objects.

But in CS6, it seems that you cannot select entire group/layer with locked objects -- the "selection circle" in the Layers panel will not show the double circle. And if you manipulate the group/layer now, only the unlocked objects within it will be affected; the locked objects will stay the same.

How can I revert back to CS5's behaviour?
I got a shape locked on the screen and can't unlock it.It is just a rectangle with 2 rounded corners. It has a strange shadow... I don't recall doing that shape ever, I was switching among Illustrator and Photoshop and in a second it just appeared.I tried many alternatives but still can't get rid off it. It is in every new file I make. It doesn't respond to zoom in/out. If I switch to outline view it stays the same, even with the shadow.I recorded a video.

I have done Hide All Layers/Show All Layers - so there is nothing hidden..I have even opened a previous project, and it has the same symbol on it and none of these methods of correcting it works either. It printed fine on Friday.

When I create an entirely new document, the icon is still there.
what I did to lock the stroke size to 1 pt for the rectangle tool. It won't go lower than that.

The script unlocks layers that are lock but it does not unlock items that have been locked individually on those layers. Is there a way to unlock these items?
