View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I open an Illustrator document it opens full screen - meaning the top left corner of the document is at the very top left of my screen, (behind my tools) - and the bottom right is at the very bottom right of my screen (and behind my palettes). Is there a preference setting so that a file would open in the middle of my screen - NOT full screen?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm plotting a Township Dimension sheet that has links to corner tie sheets on each section corner. Ideally I'd like to plot this using the "DWG to PDF" plotter and have it saved as a PDF so when it's put on our website you can easily pull up each relevant tie sheet from the links.
If I plot this as a .DWF file the hyperlinks work great. However, I highly doubt too many people can easily open DWF files so I'd like to keep it in a PDF format. Is there any way to plot to PDF using AutoCAD and keep the hyperlinks? I'm starting to think the only way to have hyperlinks in a PDF document is to create them manually using Adobe Acrobat (which would be A LOT of work).
I am new at using Adobe Illustrator and I am having a problem when I try and open an AutoCAD file (.dwg).
The file does not open to the right size, full scale. And some of the radius do not open as radius but as angles.
When a new pattern is being created in Illustrator CS6, the shaped objects that form the basis for the pattern, all have anchor points. However, when the pattern is then created and is stored in the swatch, it looses it's anchor points when it is used to fill an object. We are trying to trying to create patterns that can be cut out on a vinyl plotter which obviously means we need to find a way around this if possible.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I first installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 I was unable to run Photoshop or Bridge CS6. Photoshop would give me an error about "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked. If I ran either of these programs as an administrator they would run without issue, this led me to believe that there was a permission issue somewhere. After some digging I found out the both Bridge and Photoshop try to create a temp file (similiar to Photoshop Temp2777223910092) on the c: drive of the computer. In my case the user that I was logged in with did not have access to write to the root of the C: drive. Note that you run the program as the administrator and change the scratch disk location as that changes the preference for the administrator user and not the user that you are currently logged in as.
I first had to give the user that I was logged on with write permissions to the root of the C: drive. Next try and run Photoshop, you will get an error another error about the scratch disk and about and invalid or missing setting file. To correct this you need to have run Photoshop as an administrator, next you can go to Users AdminAppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings and copy Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs and/or Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs to Users<your logged in username>AppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6.Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings.
We have recently noticed that after printing a PDF of a drawing I plotted from AutoCAD we are coming up with differences when we double check the scale on the printed hardcopy using a carpenter ruler.
For example, there is a dimension labeled on the drawing of 200 ft. However, if I try to scale this out with a carpenter's ruler at the drawing was set to (say for instance it is 1 inch = 100 ft) I am coming up short of the 2 inches it should be (typically come up around an 1-15/16" or around 194 feet, approx 97% of the correct amount).
In the Page Setup Manager in AutoCAD, I have the following options selected (see the print screen as well):
Printer/plotter selected: DWG to PDF.pc3
Paper Size: ANSI full bleed B (11.00 x 17.00 Inches)
What to Plot: Layout
I don't have a plot scale scale other than the default 1" = 1'
No plot style selected
Then, on the print menu when I open the PDF that I have exported from AutoCAD, I have the following settings (see the print screens I have attached):
Printer: The printer I use (Konica Minolta c650 Series PCL)
And I have selected the Options "Auto Rotate and Center" and "Choose paper source by PDF page size**"
** Note, that I have tried unselecting the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option and accordingly changed the paper size in the "Page Setup..." button at the btoom to match the document size (i.e. 11.0 x 17.0in) and it gets the difference to be closer (i.e. I now get 198 ft but some of my border gets cut off). See the print screen below for this a print screen of the print menu and sub-menu of Page Setup showing the paper size selected.
I saw that some people in other forums state that there is no real solution when trying to scale off of PDF's and that there should be a disclaimer saying as much if you are to send the file out to a customer who may rely on doing some in the field scaling from the printed copy of the PDF file. I find it hard to believe there is no solution as we have received some drawings from others whom the scaling works just fine.
I am able to run CS6 when I login Admin, so i change scratch file location to D:. After restarting PC, login by Admin, I can run CS6. But I still can't run CS6 when I login by other account, I think the location of scratch file is per user setting.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy setup has 128gb ssd (C) which contains only my OS files with some junction points to Program Files/Program Files(x86)/ProgramData/Users which are located in my D drive which is a 1TB WD.
at first it showed when I tried to start PS for the first time after a clean install on a new computer I managed to get past it by runing PS as admin and changing the scratch disk to D.but now I noticed that when I try to copy a path from illustrator into photoshop as either a smart object or as pixels I get this error again. I haven't seen it again other then that but I just started using PS in this setup so I am yet to explore all the functions and whether they are working correctly or not.
when ran as an administrator the illustrator->PS transfer works fine but I don't want to run PS as admin all the time...
I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am creating an image in Photoshop CS6. I've saved it a few times but now it's telling me the file is locked. I resaved it as something else and now the original file has vanished!
I looked at the properties of the file before it vanished and clicked the security tab and it told me I didn't have permission to view it and I had to be an administrative user, which I am. It gave the option of giving myself permission and said the previous owner may no longer have permission but there was no previous owner listed (obviously because there never was one).
These files are very important, I can't risk them just vanishing or locking me out. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?
I was sent a jpg image via email, made a correction and put it on our network for another colleague to open. When she tried to open it, the following message below came up and I cant rectify the problem and open it on my colleagues machine.
View 6 Replies View Relatedgot my new computer---AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ CPU, 4 GB RAM, two 1 TB SATA hard disks (logical drives C:, D:, and E: on first physical hard disk; drives F: and G: and the second). Operating system is Windows XP SP2.
When I installed Photoshop CS3 10.0.1, I did not enter the serial number immediately in order to enjoy the CS3 Extended trial period (my serial number is for CS3 Standard). Eventually the trial period expired, and I entered my serial number. No problems until here.
Today I deactivated the Photoshop copy on the old machine and activated it on the new one, and that's when the problem started. Now Photoshop won't work anymore. It worked fine prior to activation.
Or actually, it
i does
work ... but only when drive C: is selected as the primary scratch disk which under Windows obviously is a bad choice. But Photoshop won't let me choose anything different. Whenever I try to deselect C: from the list of active scratch disks (remove the tick mark) or to change the order of active scratch disks so that C: is not the topmost anymore then Photoshop will refuse to re-launch.
Instead, upon re-launch it will display a message box (with 'Adobe Photoshop CS3' as the title bar and an OK button as the only option) saying, 'Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the "Properties" command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.' Of course, it doesn't bother to say what file it is talking about, or what 'locked' is supposed to mean. Explorer's 'Property' command does not provide any means to 'lock' or to 'unlock' a file. To get out of this situation, I have to delete Photoshop's preferences file which leaves me where I started, i. e. with drive C: as the primary scratch disk. I can always add more drives to the list of active scratch disks. But I must not remove C: from the top of that list or Photoshop won't work anymore.
But I want Photoshop to use G: as the scratch disk. It worked fine that way until I carried out the $#!%@ activation procedure!
I just upgraded to Windows 8 64 bit last night. I had been running Cs2 just fine on Windows 7 64 bit for a few years now.In fact I used it last week. Now after the upgrade is complete, I get this error message when I try to launch CS2:
Could not initialize photoshop because the file is locked. use the properties command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.Of course, there is no mention of which file is locked.
I am running Photoshop 7 and everything has been going fine until a few days ago. I am a sys admin and suddenly my users are getting this error when they try to load PS 7.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a piece for a little while now and it now acts as if the whole image is locked. I can toggle a layers visibility to find out that I an on the proper layer, but then I can not erase something or draw new. I noticed the last time that I was working that I could not Pencil over the entire layer as if the layer was and inch shorter than the left side of the canvas. I went down every layer and moved the cursor over the image area to see if the layer was locked. There are 27 layers. It was saved as an .XCF file.

I can hold down the alt key and click on the icon (tool) and it switches but it doesn't have the drop down menu when I right click on it. I'm sure this is something simple and I've searched the web for a similar issue but nothing related is coming up.

Program opens, I can use it, but when I quit it I get this message: Could not save preferences because the file is locked or you do no have the necessary privilieges. Use the "get info" command in the Finder to unlock or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders.
I went into Applications, right clicked on the CS5 icon, which brought up the "get Info" box. At the bottom, under Sharing & Permissions it says I have custome access; Me: read & write
System, read & write
Admin, read & write
everyone, read only
On the "everyone" the only choices I have are read only, write only or no access.
For many years I have been edit photo montages in Premiere Pro. When I would find a photo that needs retouching so I would open Photoshop, retouch the pic, save it, and the new image would magically appear on the PPro timeline. But in my CS6 suite, I get the error message "Could not save "filename" because file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file".
And this only happens when PPro is still open, regardless of where the CTI is on the timeline, or which pic on the timeline is selected. I never had this problem with any other versions of PPro and Photoshop. I don't want to shut down PPro everytime I need to retouch a pic.
I would like to make a document which he can open in illustrator and only can edit the layers with text. The layers with my illustrations must be locked and not be editable.Who knows how i can save this document? And is it possible to do this with a PDF-document?

On second and subsequent runs, I get the Windows message "Could not open a scratch file becausethe file is locked, you do not have nevessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in Windows explorer to unlock the file." The message does not specify which file is locked or by whom.I run as administrator, and this is the first program I run - only system programs should be running in the background. Tried PCMag TaskPower, which supposedly provides a list of all locked files and allows you to force an unlock, but could not ID any possible culprits.
