Photoshop Elements :: Animated GIF From ICO Files - Indicates Layer Is Partially Locked
Jan 30, 2013
Trying to create my first animated gif. I have 8 .ico files that i converted to .png to open them. once all are open i try to combine into one file with 8 layers but am unable to do it!?!? If I click on the main layer in any file it shows as locked and says "Indicates layer is partially locked".
I recently purchased elements 12. When using layers, I noticed the background layer was only partially locked and not fully locked as I was assuming it should be. I couldn't find anywhere that I could change this.Â
I am using CS4. I have a partially locked layer. It is not the background layer. I partially locked it myself but forgot how I did it. How do I unlock it?
1. I try to use any auto correction such as tone, and nothing appears to change
2. I see the small layers 'background' icon flashing as I do this into the black and white check pattern
3. It seems that the layer background is partially locked- (when I scroll my mouse over the 'lock' icon this is written)
Yet there is no icon above in 'lock' that is highlighted. So I cannot unlock it.I am able to adjust in all other methods which are not auto corrections. Perhaps I changed some settings accidentally?
When I open a photo in the editor, the background layer is locked with a transparent pixels locked lock, instead of the all pixels locked lock. How do I change it back to the default?
I don't like this new version of photoshop elements (photoshop elements 10). When I try to edit an animated gif file, it says I can only view one layer and the rest will be lost.
In PS CS6 (trial version for windows - I use windows 7) ordinary photo files only load partially. Huge pixel blocks seem te be absent. Only after a second attempt they load as should be. My hardware is rather up to date (6 GB work memory); I 've never had this problem in CS 5.
While pressing the corner triangle at the instrument button no additional instruments appear as they should. Reinstallation of the program did not work.
When using the brush tool (and others) in Elements, I am finding that when I paint only the center of the curser is filled with color. How do I adjust the brush and or curser to fill the entire area right up to the edge of the selection? I recently upgraded from Elements 10 to 12.
I've recently switched from 6 to 7. When I open an image the layer is locked and I can't unlock it (greyed out). This prevents me from adding the drop shadows I need to add. Any answers out there, please?
What is/are the benefits of having every background layer of a newly opened document locked? I have never come across a need for it and wish it wasn't. It only means I have to create a new layer and import an image to that. Or, double click the layer to unlock it. Is there a way to permanently eliminate that "preference?" It's like entering a room with your shoes tied together.
one layer in a photoshop document has a padlock on it; no clue how it got there. I can't make it go away; perhaps the method is different in CS6 than in previous versions...  Any clue about this? I can't fill a selection on this particular layer...don't know why. The layer in question IS selected, and the selection is active, etc.
CS5 - the background layer - although it shows as being locked - it is not -- when I add a new layer the new information also changes in the background layer - how do you fix that?
I start a new document and try to paint on it I get some warning that the layer is locked or some garbage, so I create a new layer and try to paint on that and it's like stuck on the move tool or something, even though it clearly has the brush tool selected.
I'm attempting to finish some artwork, and I seem to have run into a problem. I duplicated a layer--filled with white--and locked the transparent pixels in the duplicated layer. When I try to color over it, there are some white pixels showing about the edges. Inexplicably, these white pixels don't even seem to be in the layer that I'm trying to color at all--but the original layer underneath. When I hide the original layer, the white pixels disappear. What's going on?
When I open a transparent .gif file, the layer which contains the item I want is totally locked out and it won't let me move/duplicate/do anything to it. Is there anyway I can unlock it so I can move the layer into other work I'm doing?
In Photoshop CS6 why can't I unlock the background layer in a 32 bit image as you used to in CS5?
I only seam to find answers as "change it to 16 bit" but that's not a solution. In previous versions of Photoshop you were able to composite images in 32 bit.
How to select a locked layer when you have too many layers overlapping? Â I know I can select all the layers, lock them and unlock them. But I can't lock/unlock all layers when some layers are hidden. I'll have to dig in to unhide those layers. But then I don't want to unhide all layers, because it will make changes to my design that I wouldn't know. Â Is there a smart way to find/select the lock layer?
We have a Custom CUI Enterprise file that we load in the profile settings (AutoCAD 2008). I transferred it though the CUI Editor and saved it for AutoCAD 2012. When I load it into AutoCAD 2012, the pull down custom pull down menu does not show, with or without the menu bar turned on.  I have some partial CUI files that I did the same way. When I load them, and list them in the Main CUI file as such, they show up as expected. I even tried to list the Custom CUI Enterprise file in the same manor, but I get a "read only" type message and it still doesn't show the pull down.
I also thought about transferring it to another CUI file to partial load and not have a Custom CUI Enterprise file.
My problem is that i had to re-instate windows xp plus all my software and since doing this some of my files on my external HD will not open i try and i get the error message "could not complete the request because the file is locked. use the properties command in windows explorer to unlock the file" i dont know how to get the files viewable again photoshop opens ok it just doesnt open the pictures ....
I opened up a few files in Photoshop 7, and when I was done working on them, they wouldn't save saying they were locked. I closed the files without saving them, and then selected them in the folder, right clicked, went to properties, and unchecked "read only." I was able to work on them and save them after that, but then I noticed they had disappeared from the folder. I have gone to folder options and checked "show hidden files." I have searched for them. When I click on the shortcut for them, it says the file is no longer there and it is not in my recycle bin. Have I lost these files for good?
I'm a photoshop newbie and i'm dealing with animated gifs. Lets say I create a new text layer on this animated gif and I want to move it to the last frame. Is there an easier way than what i'm doing now: clicking and holding the layer with my mouse and dragged it to the last frame. I'm asking because sometimes these animated gifs have like 500+ frames and want to know if there is a faster, easier way
I isolated layers to clear out a drawing, since then I have had nothing but hassle with locked layers, No matter how many times I unlock them, they lock up again, if I create a new layer it comes in locked, if I change a line to a differant layer it locks up, I have tried creating a few simple layers, then copying and pasting the layout into a new drg file, still the problem exists, it is costing me a lot of time having to keep doing this.
Animated GIF files, are they generally created within imageready? Or is there a better application for this? Essentially, I'd like to have something that can convert a .mov or .mpg to to an animated GIF file and I wasn't sure if imageready was capable of doing this.
I am trying to assign objects (only in UNLOCKED layers) with a new layer. So basically, the user will select all the objects in the drawing.
After selecting (ex. press enter after window selecting), only objects in UNLOCKED layers will have a new layer.
Following is the code I am using...But I keep getting eOnLockedLayer exception.How should I handle this issue? Â using (Transaction acTrans = acCurDb.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()) { PromptSelectionOptions pSelOpts = new PromptSelectionOptions(); pSelOpts.MessageForAdding = "Select all objects"; PromptSelectionResult pSelRes = acDoc.Editor.GetSelection(pSelOpts); if (pSelRes.Status == PromptStatus.OK)
