Jan 5, 2014How can you get a big colour wheel selector when adjusting your gradient?
Atm all I have is a silly little bar, and you can't get a great variety of colours from that.

Jun 4, 2013I would like to be able to select a colour like you can in photoshop. The swatches are very limited. I would like to select it from the colour 'wheel', where you can move up and down the slider to select the value and then move over the circle to select your colour? Or where can I find a huge swatch of colours?

Nov 3, 2013Recently, I started using Adobe Illustrator and watched many tutorials for the basics of it (coming from Photoshop) but one thing that I'm not too comfortable with is the gradient tool in Illustrator compared to the one in Photoshop.
I keep reading that the only way to adjust the colours is to either use the colours in the swatches or the mini colour slider but is there a way to choose the colours like you can in Photoshop?

I tried to replicate the background shown in this screenshot in CorelDRAW X6, but had trouble making the gradient, with orange on top then both green and blue beneath. While I can make the gradient use three colors, they are in a line, unlike the screenshot where they are next the each other both horizontally and vertically.

i'm trying to use the gradient tool. im adding gradients to sold colour shape jpg's. for instance i have a jpeg that is a green square.
i want to use the Graditent tool to give a gradient effect to my jpeg, however when i apply a gradient it is always grayscale, no matter what colour the image! can this be changed to colour? if so how?
in other words, is it possible to make my green square have a green gradient effect?

It seems the object only changes colour when I release the slider. But I want to see it dynamically change, so I can find the colour that works best without "hit or miss" - "trial and error" behaviour.
Yes... I'm aware some of you spend hours in colour programs creating a palette to work with. Good for you.

I open a JPG and enter quick mask. I use the gradient tool with a radial gradient and make a small gradiated area. It appears in red fading out to the edges. So far so good.
I USE to be able to exit quick mask, and that gradient would now be a selection. What is happening now though is when I exit quick mask, the area selected is the entire image and not the gradiated area.

Jan 4, 2014I've been using a radial gradient on a mask to create a selection, then messing with the selection with various tools, e.g. saturation, blur, contrast. All this on a duplicate of the background layer, of course.
On my most recent attempt, I noticed "rings" in a portion of the finished image. Is the sequence in which I'm using the tools the problem? Should I work on the top layer first, THEN create the selection? Here's a crop from the image:

They want a metallic color similar to an existing light pink solid coated pantone color already in the design (image lighter color in mane) but when I look at the pantone metallic color books the colors seem dark (img darker color in mane) and there does not seem to be a metallic match for the light pink color.

May 20, 2013I've been using Inkscape for a long time and decided to switch to Illustrator CS6 now for better compatibility with PDF standards. While most things are very similar in both programs, one thing enormously bugs me in Illustrator each time I use it. In Inkscape, you could hold down your middle mouse button (mouse wheel) and move the mouse to simultaneously navigate on both the horizontal and vertical viewport axis. In other words, holding down the middle mouse button and moving the mouse would pan the view in both directions. Is there any chance (program setting, plug-in) of getting a similar behavior in Illustrator (doesn't have middle mouse button, just some easy way to navigate in all directions)? I know that you can rotate the mouse wheel to pan the view vertically and holding CTRL while using the mouse wheel pans it horizontally, but that's just cumbersome and totally counter-intuitive.

Photoshop :: Magic Wand Selection / Gradient Tool - Jagged Anti Aliasing (Picture)?
Mar 5, 2012In this example I did the following
1. used the circle marquee and did a 8 point stroke.
2. Selected the circle with the magic marquee to get an active selection
3. Gradient tool
Doing the above results in jagged edges that alias badly once I fill the selection with the gradient. With a basic color the circle is perfeclty fine, only once I add the gradient the edges become jagged. How might I fix this?
