May 16, 2013I often color code layers in the layers panel.
In CS5 I could select several layers and change the color for all at once. Doesn't seem to work anymore in CS6.

Apr 12, 2013I'm making a .gif image but the video clip frames I imported have an undesirable rectangle at the very end (it's just starting to fade in). So I'm trying to go frame by frame and edit each layer individually to erase the rectangle. I only have a handfull of frames to edit and then I should be good to go but figuring out how to switch to editing other layers has proven difficult. So far if I turn off the top layers when I try and edit the underlying layers it only draws on the top layer. I didn't want to move any of the layers since that would be much harder than just editing them where they already are.

Apr 21, 2013I have a scenario that I can't seem to get working the way I want.
Scenario: I edit a file in photoshop with multiple layers (.tiff or .psd). I then add that file to my lightroom catalog and would like to have it automatically updated in lightroom when making changes in photoshop. I know this is possible when using the "Edit in Photoshop" option but I can't seem to get it working when I had the file in photoshop first.
If I import the file into lightroom and then make changes in photoshop the changes are not applied in lightroom. If, in lightroom, I choose "edit in photoshop" then I get a flat image generated from the lightroom file that does not have all my previously created photoshop layers.

Jan 25, 2014I'm going to connect my AI file to After effect. So I had to create lots of layers in order to edit them seperatly in After effects. But it seems like my amount of layers are too large because AE always crashes (not responding -> Force quit)
So I wanna break some stuff down in multiple AI files, but I don't wanna go and select every layer and delete it. That would take too much time. Is there a way to select the multiple objects in Illustrator and delete that but also its layer its in?

Feb 26, 2014I'm currently on CS6 but I'm looking for a solution that can also work on CS5 for a co-worker.
Having multiple artboards has been established since CS4 and I have yet to see an official way of resizing multiple artboards, if anything there should at least be a plug-in.
As great of a feature it is, it seems a little short sited. If one has multiple artboards one should be able to manage multiple artboards, right?
I totally love having multiple artboards but I should be able to resize and manage multiple artboards as well. This is great for building icon sets but how can I resize the set all at once?
I was considering trying to do an action but odds are I still would have to select an artboard one by one to do which doesn't save much time if you have like 30 artboards to apply this to. I don't even see a batch render for artboards and Photoshop has that for its files.

More specifically, imagine I have 10 rectangles on my canvas, and I want them all to be of a specific height. The rectangle position on the canvas matters, so I can't do the 'vertical align to top and then resize group height' trick - they need to be resized in place.

We need an Illustrator script that takes an AI file and spits out an .eps, .jpg (for print), multiple .png sizes for web, and .pdf. We have an extensive download library for members that constantly change and rotate with new logos, print materials and other graphics.
I was hoping that there was some kind of script that would cut some time off of exporting all the different versions each time.

Feb 2, 2014I'm trying to change "capture time" of multiple photos to a specific time.
I know that there is "Edit Capture Time" feature under Metadata. But when I try to edit multiple photos, it says that "Modify the capture time stored in the selected photos by entering the correct time adjustment for the photo displayed to the left. Other photos (but not vidieos) will be adjusted by the same amount of time". And it really does.
For example,
If A file's capture time is 1/11/2011
B file's capture time is 1/11/2012
C file's capture time is 1/11/2013
I would like to change their capture time to 1/11/2014. All the three files.
But the current "Edit Capture Time" feature of Lightroom just adds three years to each file like this:
A file's capture time -> 1/11/2014
B file -> 1/11/2015
C file -> 1/11/2016
So their capture times remain as different ones. And this is not I want...
I've googled a lot and tried several programs other than lightroom as well, but the "Capture time" recognized by lightroom could not be changed by other programs.
Illustrator :: Horizontal Transparent Bars - Cannot Edit Layers
Sep 20, 2012I'm getting a mysterious problem when trying to work with Illustrator files that, I think, were exported from arcGIS. The problem is that when I open the exported file in Illustrator, I get "horizontal transparent bars" that don't let me edit the layers. Perhaps the file is being exported from arcGIS as RGB?

Jan 27, 2014So I received a DVD with an eps file on it from a graphics company. I was informed that I could open it in Illustrator and start editing the individual graphics within the file. But when I open it, it is just one image and won't let me edit it.
There are no locks on the image layers.
The graphics company told me that it was originally created in Indesign and then saved as an eps, so I don't really know what to do now.
It won't open and let me edit in any of the Adobe programs. I need these graphics to edit!

Oct 11, 2012I'm using Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 in Windows 7. I'm trying to type-set a file and some of the lines of text aren't regularly editable. When selecting a letter it's chopped up in to a bunch of smaller images, thus rendering it impossible to change the font. The customer wants the title on their business card to be un-bolded and I am unable to edit the title. How can I release the type back to an editable form?

Aug 8, 2013I'd like to use boxes to punch holes into the layered artwork below them. I want the result to look exactly like this image, but with the white boxes being transparent holes.
This seems so simple, but I can't find any combination of layers/pathfinder tools/compound shapes/or clipping masks that will produce this result. No matter what, I end up losing part of the artwork (usually the topo lines and the black bar).

Feb 14, 2013I'm trying to apply an opacity mask to multiple layers (which happen to be contained within a Layer Mask). When I make the Opacity Mask, it takes all of the stuff on different layers and compresses them to a single layer (see attached images). I would like to keep the data on their assigned layers for later editing. I've done this before, but I have a feeling I have a setting or pref de-selected somewhere. Could the layer mask be the culprit?

Now the duplication mode turns-on when i try to perform it. So.. Ho do i select multiple object without need to click through thousands of them? (i need drag-select)

When I export with the standard-export-button in Adobe Illustrator, it runs fast and with all layers.

The font increases, but the text boxes don't expand to fit the increased size text. So I am having to make each box bigger manually. I know this can be done with an action (I did that allready) but the reason I want to script this is because I have to combine this with another script which takes care of colorizing stuff.
