I'm going to connect my AI file to After effect. So I had to create lots of layers in order to edit them seperatly in After effects. But it seems like my amount of layers are too large because AE always crashes (not responding -> Force quit)
So I wanna break some stuff down in multiple AI files, but I don't wanna go and select every layer and delete it. That would take too much time. Is there a way to select the multiple objects in Illustrator and delete that but also its layer its in?
I want to create a PDF from Photoshop while keeping on a master layer/group for all pages AND turning on/off individual layers/smart object in another group? I know there may be a way to do this with Layer Comps but I would rather just use layers.
I'd like to use boxes to punch holes into the layered artwork below them. I want the result to look exactly like this image, but with the white boxes being transparent holes.
This seems so simple, but I can't find any combination of layers/pathfinder tools/compound shapes/or clipping masks that will produce this result. No matter what, I end up losing part of the artwork (usually the topo lines and the black bar).
Am I to understand if I have multiple artboards, they all will share the same layers? Each artboard does not have it's own separate set of layers, am I right? This is my first time using the artboard feature... CS6.
I'm trying to apply an opacity mask to multiple layers (which happen to be contained within a Layer Mask). When I make the Opacity Mask, it takes all of the stuff on different layers and compresses them to a single layer (see attached images). I would like to keep the data on their assigned layers for later editing. I've done this before, but I have a feeling I have a setting or pref de-selected somewhere. Could the layer mask be the culprit?
i have a guge artwork and i need to select a small groups (around 10-100) of objects from about 4000 overlayed objects and then group'em/split-to-layers for usability (This is a human body infographics for medical institute) There IS NO way selecting them from canvas because they are overlayed, and sometimes not visible at all. in CS5 there was a feature to select multiple objects by Alt+drag selection icon on the most right in the Layers Panel. Now the duplication mode turns-on when i try to perform it. So.. Ho do i select multiple object without need to click through thousands of them? (i need drag-select)
the code above shows how I managed to export a artboard with all layers to PNG-File. My question is, if there is a faster way to combine all layer before exporting, maybe a way without the "temporary layer" (Rasterize(...)-method)?
When I export with the standard-export-button in Adobe Illustrator, it runs fast and with all layers.
I am trying to turn every layer in my .ai file to a raster image without flattening to one layer.
-The big issue I am dealing with is the agency that just built a paralax site for us refuses to export to PSD. I have tried every possible way to do this but keep getting the file is to big message. To add to it they had it all on 1 layer. I was able to release to sequence, but now am trying to see if rasterizing the objects will work.
I have an Illustrator document with one layer (named Layer 1).In that layer are lines, rectangles and text.Is it possible (in script) to: make 3 additional layers named NL, EN and GEselect and cut all the text in Layer 1paste that text in the same place in the layers NL, EN and GE
(Step 2: select all text items and Ctrl-X) (Step 3: select proper layer and Paste in Place in that layer)
I know this can be done with an action (I did that allready) but the reason I want to script this is because I have to combine this with another script which takes care of colorizing stuff.
I can't figure out the proper commands to fill out and complete the script below. What I am trying to do is:
- Create a new document using one of the Profile presets (or have the New Document dialogue open so I could select the profile, size and bleed) - Make 3 layers, each with a diferent name - Create a rectangle the size of the artboard on the bottom layer, with a swatch stroke and no fill - Create a rectangle the size of the bleed on the middle layer, with no stroke or fill
Like I said, I haven't gotten far at all. I've read through the basic scripting guides and I'm just not understanding all of the language needed to string things together.
tell application "Adobe Illustrator" make new document set topLayer to make new layer ¬ at beginning of document 1 with properties {name:"Vector"} set bottomLayer to make new layer ¬ at end of document 1 with properties {name:"Through Cut"} end tell
The subject pretty much sums it up. How do I turn off the unreconciled layers thing? I don't want it on a per drawing basis, I want it to be off for good.
I have a drawing which is referencing a .ipn model, the .ipn model has all of it's trail line invisible however the drawing is showing them all visible. What I am trying to do is find a simple and quick way to turn off the visibility of ALL the trail lines in the drawing without having to pick out each one and ajust manually, The model .ipn is quite complicated and has many trails on it so I really need a way to turn off the visibility of these in the drawing.

How would I get LAYISO to freeze not turn off layers I do not want to see? I did this in AutoCAD 2006 but recently upgraded to 2014 and do not remember how I did it.
How to Apply adjustment layers to multiple layers that have different blending modes and keep the colors the same as the adjustment done?
I work in Animation painting Backgrounds. My files are sometimes upwards to 200+ layers.I will use adjustment layers to quickly balance colours and constrast on top of those many many layers.
The only way that I know of how to apply adjustment layers it to every single layer ( by applying I mean I need to get rid of the adjustment layers because we cant use them in production but i need the new colours be applied to all layers underneath ) in a psd is to manually do it By duplicating the adjusment layer 200+ times and then merging each layer to one of those adjustment layers so that that layer can take the adjustment layers effect permanently.
The issue is that Within Those 200 layers I have some layers set to Multiply or OVERLAY. IT obviously wont apply the adjustment layer properly to those layers because those layer blend mode affect the layers under them. The colour wont be the same anymore in the spots that had the multiply blended mode.

I have 2 adjustment layers up top. I need to get rid of them by applying them to each layer! I cannot merge any of the layers. We need all those layers for production.I can apply the adjustment layers manually and this works GREAT for all Layers set to normal. THey take on the colour change just FINE.
However, The issue is that layer 6 and layer 4 are both set to mutiply and this screws up the colour once i apply the adjustment layers to each layer manually...
How can i apply my adjustment layers to a file like this with some layers being set to multiply while keeping the layers exactly the same configuration and The new colour taking effect exactly how i looks before i apply the adjustment layers? Now the simple solution is to merge the multiply layers to the layer that it affects HOWEVER I NEED those multiply layers to be separate!
Imagine a layer containing 10 squares, each square is isolated (none are touching). I need a quick way to put each of those squares on its own layer. Is there something already built in, or any plugin or action?
I have a series of pics (approx 80) that I'd like to load into Elements, with each photo going into a single layer. I google'd a series of old posts where somebody used a "script", but the links are no longer working and that trails is dead.
I am creating vectorbased icons in Illustrator and have set up a document with size 16x16 pixels to get a good preview of the end result. My problem is that the anchorpoints snap to the edge of the document even though I have turned of all the 'snap to' options I can find in the View menu and the tranform flyout menu.
I made a typographic poster in Photoshop CS6 Extended (because I'm more familiar with it) and am wanting it to print in the highest quality possible. The size of the poster is 24'' x 36 '' at 300 dpi. I wanted to convert it into a vector so there would be no pixels. I've done this before with posters but none of them had any text and they turned out perfect. ou So my problem is when I did the image trace (high fidelity photo) it didn't turn out well.
Example of it before image trace:
After image trace:
The word "LIKE" doesn't look too bad but smaller words like "INSTRUMENTS" are the ones messing up. Is there any way to fix this? This poster took me a long time to make and I would hate to have to start over.
Having problems turning on the scan option? All the options, whether live scan in objects of scan item in windows are grayed out so I can't select them. I am fairly new with this program and have been successful some of the time accidentally.
I applied a gradient to a shape in cs6 and made a new shape and it is taking on the same gradient as the last shape, and I do not see an option to turn off the gradient in the gradient panel for the new shape.
The eyedropper in Illustrator is turning everything to black. I used it just yesterday and it worked perfectly fine. But for some reason now when I use it, it is turning everything to black. So I have to change the colour manually rather than using the eyedropper to get a similar colour.
I am exporting an image for web in Illustrator 6 and my images are all turning out blurry. I have attached a sample image as well as a screenshot of my current settings, although I have messed with the settings quite a bit and I seem to have this problem no matter what I do., URL....
