View 3 RepliesSetting the size of a brush to be controlled by "Pen Tilt" (in the "Shape Dynamics" section of the "Brush" window) acts just as if "Pen Pressure" control had been selected.
This behavior can even be reproduced by using the controls in the "Brush Pose" section: overriding the "Tilt X" and "Tilt Y" values has no effect on the size (in a brush where "Pen Tilt" has been set to control size, and with "Tilt Scale" 0), but overriding the "Pressure" value does affect the size.
I'm using Photoshop CC (version 14.0 x64 with the latest updates) in Windows 7 x64, and it's worth noting that the "Always use Pressure for Size", "Always use Pressure for Opacity", and "Enable airbrush" buttons in the toolbar are off, and "Tilt Scale" is set to 0 (since "Tilt Scale" by itsef works according to the documentation). I Also use a Wacom Intuos 3, with driver 6.3.5-3, and pen tilt works great for changing brush opacity or angle. I've seen the very same problem when trying older versions of photoshop (CS5 and CS6).
had it already been adressed to be solved in future versions? Where can I obtain an official response by Adobe?
I'm using a basic custom brush which reacts to pressure, and whenever I make a brush stroke with my stylus, the line doesn't appear until I lift my pen off the tablet. It's a seemingly random occurence, although it occurs in both my work (CS6 / Win7 / Intuos3) and home (CS6 / Win8 / Intuos4) setups.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using illustrator to edit a sketch. But, this problem alwasy happens. I normally use the 3 pt round brush and set the size to about 0.15pt. Well, If i use a different brush and switch back to the normal paintbrush it would always chang it to 1 pt and I would have to make a stroke and set it back to 0.15 pt. Is there a reason why it keeps doing this?
Also, is there a way to erase without it editing the entire path? I know I am using vectors but I don't understand how to fix this. URL....
There is one elementary thing about Illustrator CS6 that I don’t understand. Do the following:
-Select Pencil Tool. Make three strokes at random and select them.
-Apply a brush to them, for instance a Calligraphic Brush 5 pt. Oval.
-Deselect the strokes.
-Doubleclick the same brush on the Brushes Panel in order to edit it.
-Choose Preview to see changes.
-Change the brush size to 20 point. The three strokes will change in size, as they are supposed to.
-Click OK. A warning dialog box appears. Click Apply To Strokes.
Now what happens? THE CHANGES DO NOT APPLY TO THE STROKES. They turn back from 20 to 5 pt. Why? Try, on the other hand, to make the entire procedure without selecting Preview. Now the process runs perfectly; the change to 20 pt. is applied to the strokes. My question is: why does Preview spoil the process?
I know in the brush options panel you can enter a brush size in millimetres, but is there any way to permantly make it display the size in mm? I need to know how thick some lines are in mm, and even after going to options and changing all diplay uints to mm, it still shows up as pts.
I've attached a picture of exactly what I'm referring to below. (The "Size" field currently showing "15 pt". I need that area to display mm).
In Illustrator CS5 calligraphic brush could be decimal e.g. 0,5pt size as on the screenshot:
But new Illustrator CS6 always rounds the value to integer.
The appearance of the brush seems to stay the same but it becomes impossible to change it anyhow.
Is this a bug? How can I use my previous brush settings?
I made an animation a little while ago and the file is over 100K. I was just wondering, is there a way to make that size smaller? I'm using Photoshop CS by the way...
View 5 Replies View RelatedTricky one to add a title for but if I am resizing an object precisely using the W Value and H Value fields, for some reason the size I enter then changes. So, for example, I have an object that is 57.15mm wide. I then change that value to 57mm but when I click return it then changes back to the 57.15mm value. This appears for all other values. So if I change it to 60mm it then changes it to 59.972 mm
Not really sure what setting I have that's making it do this. My document is set up in mm.
On digital tutors i learned that the blob brush size can be changed interactively. But since i use a mac in combination with a cintiq and a swiss german keyboard i cannot use the bracket keys.
They also don't work when i assign the us keyboard settings. How can the brush size of the blob brush be changed interactively?
I'm currently using my created brush and when I try to use the basic brush, it immediately jumps back to my created brush with it's stroke size.
Align to pixel grid is turned off so it cant ber that.
I used to resolve this problem (when I was actually trying to keep using my created brush when it was reverting back to basic brush) but I would resolve it by double clicking on the designated brush in the brushes palette.
Also seeing as were on the subject of brushes, nop matter how I adjust the firmness/ pressure both in the driver setting of my wacom and for the brush in illustrator, I see no difference?
When I choose "New Document" in Illustrator CS4 and try to change the document size the "custom" option isn´t available. The only available options are standar sizes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Illustrator I want to maintain the stroke settings while creating several paths with the pen tool. However, every time I start a new path, the stroke settings revert to what must be a default. E.g. I set 16pt + Variable width profile + Basic and stroke a path. When I start a new path, the settings revert to 1pt + Uniform + Basic, and I have to reset back to my original. Other art programs I've used maintain the tool settings most recently used until they are manually changed. How can I get the settings to stay through multiple uses of the pen tool?

the default setting is 1920 - far too low for me
ok it can be supressed on a session basis, but the number of clicks to acheive anything keeps creeping up and I'd rather not see it at all - AFAIK there is no way to suppress it permanently, but the default setting can be increased in the registry
I have my setting at 8000
the registry key is 'ImportSize' in Options > Filters [ verified in designer pro X]
changing registry settings is only for those who know what they are doing and who backup first
I’m a PS user new to Illustrator (CS6). In PS, using the bracket keys [] to increase/decrease brush point size will simultaneously update the data displayed in the tool panel at the top.
While I can use the bracket keys in Illustrator to change the appearance of the brush stroke, it is not being updated in the tool panel input or in the stroke window…so I can essentially have (2) 3 pt strokes created with the same brush that don’t visually match but whose display properties DO match. Because I will be doing lots of editing I certainly don’t want to work this way.
1. original
2. doubled horizontal size of the line
I'm using scatter brush to draw multiple lines with random size and angle(image 1.), and trying to increase only the horizontal size(image 2.), keeping the interval the same. But when I do, the interval is also increased since 'Spacing' option follows the size of the base object. I could adjust and decrease the spacing value, but the problem is, spacing option cannot go below 1%. So if want to increase the line size and maintain the interval, there's no way to do it. expending then scaling could work, but that's not what I want.
The brush size on my paint brush and clone stamp are not working properly.

The brush preview size does not match brush stroke. I've insert a pic of the problem. I tried allmost everythning, but nothing works.
I use a wacom tablet.
I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a tablet with gimp and I want to be able to set the brush size for the paint brush and also for the eraser, separately. What happens now is that I'll set the paintbrush size to 10px, paint for a little while, turn the pen over to erase and the eraser will now be at 10px. So I'll adjust the eraser size to something like 50px, erase, turn over, and now the paintbrush is at 50px. Grrrrrrr... I tried creating new brushes for both the paintbrush and the eraser, but there's no brush size option. This is my first time using gimp so I'm probably missing something.

When I'm saving out a file in AI, all the objects that I want to show are at 100% opacity and it looks right. When I save out a PDF (High Quality Print - Don't keep editing capabilities) the object is repeatedly somewhat transparent.
Top image is the AI file and the bottom is what the PDF turns out. Lower quality with the PDF image since it's blown up so much.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn AI CS6 can you change your XY Ruler origin to automatically start in the lower left of your document?
I am coming from AI CS4. In AI CS4 when you would open or creat a new document, your X Y origin would alway start on the lower left hand side.
Now when you open a new document in CS 6 the origin starts in the uper right. If I hand drag the ruler down to the lower left, the Y coordinant reads as a negative number.

I'm having a difficult time figuring out why my PS CS5 is not loading my brushes properly.
I see the brushes however Photoshop does not load their settings. They all are flate and hard.
All my brushes before in PS CS2 worked properly so I don't understand why CS5 is not. And I have loaded CS5 brushes and still does not read their settings.
Do I have to do something first before loading the brushes?
So why in the world would I update Lightroom in the middle of a job.?
Before I was able to do in and touch up shadowy areas using (K) adjustment brush, but now it doesn;t seem to work. The radial brush does a good job for a defined area but for SPOT touching I have always used the the adjustment brush?
Is there a setting or am I missing something or is this a bug?
