IMO, brush libraries would be much more useful if they could be edited and saved while open in another document. Having to open a library file to update it is NOT a smooth process.
I'm still using CS5. I assume it's the same in CS6.
I wonder if there's an easy way to have the result just as if I used scissors tool on every anchor of a path. Clicking on every anchor is a tiresome labor.

We'd like to take a custom brush that is saved into another library, and copy it into the standard brush library, so we don't have to switch libraries to use that brush. Is there any way to accomplish this?
I'm creating an animation of a magic 8 ball rolling towards the screen, getting larger as it comes forward. Now that the animation is complete, I would like to put it on an ease path to make the motnion look more realistic. Unfortunatley, when an easein is set for the 8 ball, it will skew the shapes, and everythign sort of flies off in all directions and then lands back where it should be at the end.
How it looks with an easein during the animation, and how I would like it to look during the animation.
I'm having a problem with the Blob Brush tool where I can't change the basic brush to something else. Whenever I pick a brush I want and I try draw with the Blob Brush tool, the brush I picked reverts back to the basic brush. Here are screenshots:

But when I start drawing with the Blob Brush tool, it reverts back to the basic brush automatically
Am I doing something wrong or is the Blob Brush tool only capable of using the basic brush?
I am doing design for a road network. For the ease of design, I designed the main roads and split the whole network into parts. Every part will contain Main Road Alignments and alignments for a respective parts only. Now I want to combine all these into one file. When I copy all alignments into one file, the surface I created earlier is duplicating and software gets hanged.

I have several dimensions which I'm trying to place on my drawing through VPMAX in my viewport, but the text keeps showing up upside down. When I manually tell it to rotate 90 degrees, the text remains upside-down but the landing becomes vertical. When I rotate 180 degrees, the text becomes vertical which isn't really useful. Rotating 270 degrees almost solves my problem, but the landing is once again vertical.
If it matters, the UCS coordinates have been rotated 90 degrees for ease of viewing in paper space.
I am working with vector art that has lines that either look like they were cut off and not finished out or extend to the edge of the page so they are straight when they should actually be curved.
Is there any way to take a straight line or part of an image and curve it with ease or will I have to redraw or alter each line?

I know that in CS4 I could keep that palette available, but I haven't been successful doing the same in CS5. I have saved my workspace, but the Pantone palettes disappear when Illustrator quits.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am reading a tutorial for Adobe Illustrator CS6 that was written for CS5 version and I am at a point where the author uses the 'Mayan Bricks' pattern.
(He says that it is located in Swatch Library > Patterns > Decorative > Decorative_Primitive).
The problem is that in CS6 version there is no Decorative_Primitive folder.
Aome type of vector library plugin for Illustrator CS6. I need somewhere I can drag commonly used vector elements in illustrator (similar to that of the library in indesign), in the past I used dbpalette from Baby-Universe but they have no idea when its going to be updated, so I'm on the search for a replacement. I tried the symbol library but never had much luck with it. I'm on a MacPro running 10.8.3.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a big custom swatch library that I'm continually making additions and corrections to. I have it set as persistent, and the library works fine, but it doesn't update when I make changes to it. As far as I can tell, it's still stuck at the point where I upgraded to CC a few months ago. I've tried unchecking persistent, closing the library and Illustrator, then reopening and reinstalling the library, and it's still reverting to the old version.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi purchased a symbol package online and it came with these instructions URL... that i followed to a T. the problem.,. well the symbols and the brushes do not show in library for me to use. the package name showed in the library.. but when i click on it, the list is empty. how can i get them to show in the library permanently.
by the way, when i open the downloaded package using Ai, the symbols are there and i am able to open them no problem. but i can't get them to populate in the brushes, symbols library.
It happen recently when I try to launch Adobe CS6 Illustrator, the loading stop at switch library and quit unexpectedly. I did not encounter such issue previously. I tried updating Illustrator patch but it is still having such issue.

I am setting up illustrations for localization and am running into a problem with loading a modified variable library; for instance, one that has been translated. I getting the message "The incoming variable library is invalid".
I can't seem to find any information on what to do after:
-linking and adding variables and objects in the Variables panel
-taking a snapshot
-saving the variables library file
-copying and translating the variables library file
When attempting to save a new symbol library that I have created Illustrator CC crashes without saving the file. It does'nt matter where I try to save it, or what the original source image was.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen converting from LAB is it possible to change the default look up library from PANTONE Solid Coated to the Pantone+ Color Bridge Coated? Example: Set up a new job using all Pantone+ Color Bridge Coated. This creates all swatches as "Process Color" in CMYK Color Mode.
Client request is to have some Spot Colors.EXAMPLE: I take the "PANTONE 7408 CP" and rename it to "PANTONE 7408 C" change the color type to Spot Color and then close the window. Reopen the spot and change the Color Mode to book. All good now I have a PANTONE Solid Coated.
Client now decides to remove the Spot Color so I add the "P" back in the name and change the color mode back to CMYK.
Now the break is;
C: 2.49%, M: 25.93%, Y: 100%, K: 0%
NOT
C: 0%, M: 29%, Y: 100%, K: 0%
I'm writing a script to create a new AI document with a restricted swatchbook. The designer is supposed to use only the swatches/inks provided by this script. So far I was able to delete all current swatches and add a CMYK or RGB spotcolor swatch.

Often we will be dealing with Pantone colors. No need to define these, as they are inside AI already, right? But how to call them from the library? I'm new to ExtendScript.
I have a list of 300+ colors that I need to make into a swatch library for Illustrator. The data looks like this:

It's RGB I think. In any case, I am just starting with Illustrator and I know NOTHING about scripting. these colors into a swatch library? I am getting a migraine just thinking about putting them in one by one.

I get as far as choosing the csv file, and then I get the error. I think this outputs as CMYK, but not sure.
I've made a custom brush library and want to delete some of the brushes but there is no little garbage can icon in the lower right hand corner of the brushes pallete. How do I delete the unwanted brushes from the cusotm library? The little garbage can IS on the regular brushes pallette.

- I store these symbols in a custom symbol library so I can re-use them in a different file
- Reason A: to be able to re-use these symbols within the Illustrator file to visualize different "interaction flows" to my clients
- Reason B: I use vector assets because they allow me to accommodate for different screen resolutions in the future

A: I would like to be able to open the same symbol library I created in Illustrator in Photoshop and drag the symbols onto my Photoshop canvas.
B: If I change a symbol in Illustrator it should be updated in my Photoshop file.
I am working with Cs6 (Windows 7). I am trying to apply a gradient fill to an object, but don't know how to get the swatches to show colors. All I have is graytones. How do I load the color swatches? I do have the gradients and swatches open in the tools panel, but the swatches is just empty.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOur macs have 2 accounts on each (2 shifts) and we have installed the new Pantone + colours (336) in the swatches as usual.
Open illustrator and the libraries are there. When I switch to the other user account the libraries are missing in Illustrator. I navigate to the presets/swatches folder and they are installed. All permissions on Read write-everyone but still the second user account cannot see the swatches.
