Why does the color look strange, is it only because it's green? I have it set to custom color>green because no color/black was only grey. This is still desaturated & very grey. Playing with the settings didn't seem to work.
What's with the pixelated edging? It's an inner bevel & appears on the rounded parts.
When I extrude/bevel a perfect circle (Illustrator CS6 Mac), there is a defect visible on the edge of the circle. Please see 4 images attached. Is this normal, and is there a fix or workaround?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a Photoshop document, and selected the Ellipse Shape Tool. On the Tool Options Bar I selected "Shape Layer" I drew an ellipse, and a new Shape Layer was created. I then used the Zoom tool to zoom in on the edge of the shape. The path that defines the edge was a thin, sharp line. But the color at the edge of the shape has a pixelated, chunky look.
Why isn't the color at the edge just as sharp as the path? Since the shape's edge is defined by a vector, I would have thought the color's edge would be sharp, not pixelated.
Ive tried downloading some brush sets and applying them in PS. The only problem is that the edges of the brushes look blurred when the sizes are increased and are no way as sharp as on the examples attached.
The pixelated blocks of colour and edges of the photos are so sharp they could be bitmapped?
Could these kind of effects be created in an image/border effect program ie something like Extensis Photo Frame?
I am VERY new to Edge. I have an animation with SVG graphics. When their size is scaled from initially 1% to 100% the images appear very pixelated in some Android (Android version >= 4.2, I think) browsers. Why is that? What can I do?

I can see it is detecting some gaps but I was wondering what the custom gap option does? and if I could use it to close the specific gaps I want to close. I figured there would be a way using the pen tool so I drew a straight path across the edge and tried to join the paths together using command j but it didn't seem to work :/ I am quite new to illustrator

I crop a picture and when I print it white lines appear on the print . When I print the uncropped version of the same picture I get no lines . How can I get it to stop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I free transform and warp a layer to lie flat, sometimes I'll get this harsh pixellation at one end of the layer. It doesn't appear while I'm doing the warp, just suddenly coming up when I hit enter to apply the transformation.
So for example, Ill be transforming this grid, which is originally about 9x this big.So when I''m running the transformation/warp, it looks like this Not great, but at least most of the lines are still intact on the left and back (the right side is basically fine looking) But once I hit enter, I get this And now like, half the lines I did have are gone, and what's left is super pixelated.
Is there an interpolation setting I could be using? Is it something unavoidable from how distorted I make the layer?
I have created a custom Assembly using Assembly Composer for C3D 2012 and imported it to C3D. Problem is when I try to place the assembly in a drawing.
I get the error message "Unable to execute the tool. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation."
I am trying to create an assembly that will calculate a built volume based on constructed height of the structure.
I have attached the PKT file.
I'm not satisfied with the huge quality loss after scaling the layers and sharpening them. What to do so it will look less crappy? What should I do? Also I want to mention that I'm doing gifs from videos using KMPlayer to extract the frames and the videos are in mp4 format and HD quality.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with the new AI CC fetures, notably Live Corners. Live Corners is very useful, but in doing this, I discovered a possible BUG in 3D Bevel. (See screen shots, below.)
There is nothing apparently wrong with the path Live Corners produced (no double-points, etc.), so I found no object repair possible before applying 3D Bevel.
After discovering this, I undid the 3D Bevel, and rotated the object slightly. Here is what 3D Bevel does now:
AI CS6 does the same thing, but the errors are in different places. AI CS5 has different looking errors, and there are many more of them.
Any thoughts on workarounds? Or am I just stuck with an AI CC 3D Bevel BUG?
I've encountered a problem which is a first for me with Ai CS4, and that is I'm working on a cat illustration but I'm drawing hairs using a brush I've made that have anywhere from 4-5 strokes with multiple colors to mimic the look of hair. Everything was working fine until I used the hand tool to move the artboard around and the image pixelated a bit. Zooming in/out takes a bit of time as well, and then drawing any further strokes from a fresh boot now that I've saved my progress seem to be cached, then appear slowly one at a time afterwards.
I've got a Macbook Pro with 2.4ghz i5 cpu, 4gb ram, running osx 10.7.5. I'm wondering if I'm pushing the limits of the intel integrated graphics card. I have a Mac Pro at home with 8gb of ram although I learned recently that Ai CS4 only utilises 2gb of ram max. Regardless, my tower at home has a dedicated graphics card, ATI I believe.
System monitor reads 346mb free, 920mb wired, 2.03 active, 750mb inactive, used 3.66gb.
Trying to narrow it down to being operator error IE: too complex for Illustrator, or possibly the laptop hardware. I'd love to get back to work on this project of mine

I don't have much experience in Illustrator, and I'm experiencing an issue with the 3D Extrude & Bevel effect. Namely, there are "artifacts" where the anchor points lie on the paths.
Here's a sample:
You may need to zoom in on this image to see them, but there are thin white lines that bisect the extrusion where the anchor points lie. There are also abrupt changes in the appearance of the extrusion at these same points. These anomalies don't appear in Illustrator, and it's only when I convert to an image or PDF that they show up.
Is there any way to remove these artifacts using this effect? And if not, is there a different (better?) way to achieve the same effect?
Is there a way to give Bevel & Emboss effect to text in Illustrator, the same way like in Photoshop?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the 3D 'Extrude and bevel' tool on a complex shape (a map of the UK)The vector is a compound path, when i apply the effect when its quite small it works, however when i increase the size of the shape the outline fails to render properly and hence is not filled as it should be, there are gaps in the image.
I have scale stroke and effects turned on.If i try to apply the effect on a version that is already the size i want it i get the same problem.
I am currently designing a logo with the extrude and bevel effect. It is fine at full size, but when I copy and paste it and scale it down for another file--a.e. a business card--the effect is lost.
Why is this happening? Do you have to apply the effect seperately when the object is rescaled?
I am using Illustrator and trying to recreate the following:
This was originally created in PowerPoint - TearDrop shape. 3d effect: Bevel top type: circle. width 40 height 10. Nothing for the bottom. Surface material Warm Matte and 3-point lighting. Nothing else for depth/conture. I'm not concerned with the shadow. When I try to recreate in Illustrator I end up with something similair to below regardless how much I adjust things.
Notice the overlapping folds. This is a single object comprised of a circle and square to get a tear drop shape however when I try to make it look like the above first object I can never get that nice crisp 45 degree line to the center, it is always curved or overlapping, or does not apply the effect to the center, leaving it very flat centered. Adding light points in and moving does not work and I of course receive the "bevel self-intersection may have occurred". I don't see a bevel option for "circle" and not sure how else to accomplish or steps that I may take.
I have a brochure that was supplied by a client that I have to re edit to fit more text.I cannot get words to break causing gaps in text.I switched hyphenation on and of, word break on and of without any change in text.

If it is possible, how to get a soft inner bevel on type or vector shape in Adobe Illustrator CS4 that can be set up to be identical (or, at least, very close) to the layer styles of PS and the type/fill/stroke/object effects of ID. So far, I have not been able to achieve the same look with 3D extrude and bevel in AI. I want a solid red object with a soft 16 point white-tint highlight and a soft 16 point black tint shadow. If it is not something that is possible with 3D extrude and bevel settings, this something that must or could be done manually with the gradient mesh tool?

Most logo's I've worked are 2D and I've never had any issues that I could overcome ( I learn as I go along) however I have been given a logo which has the Extrude & Bevel effect on (which I haven't worked with before) (see first image). I have to make this logo much bigger but when i do it stretches and reshapes the logo. (see 2nd image).
The scale stroke & effect box, is checked. I am working in CS6. So how do I resize this logo proportionately?
When I double-click an AI-file to open it, Illustrator resize/minimize it's own window. Sometime so much that Illustrator itself reply with the error: "Can't open the Illustration. There is not enough room for the window; Increase document area and try again."
If I open a file (browse for it) from within Illustrator it works fine and Illustrator keeps whatever windows-size I have chosen.

When adding a grain pattern effect to an object in Illustrator CS6 I get an odd bevel that surrounds the object. There is nothing in the Appearance window to suggest that there should be a bevel and I didn't add it myself.
Is there some setting I am missing or an easy way to remove the effect? For now I am masking the object with a slightly smaller object but it's starting to drastically increase the size of my file.
