Illustrator :: Cannot Get Words To Break Causing Gaps In Text
Nov 15, 2013
I have a brochure that was supplied by a client that I have to re edit to fit more text.I cannot get words to break causing gaps in text.I switched hyphenation on and of, word break on and of without any change in text.
I used some white rectangles to change the shape of black letters on a white background. Now I want this combination of letters & rectangles to be just letters when I select them etc. (make the white rectangles blend with the background and still have the shape they left on the letters) How can I do that?
I have an illustrator file with some text flowed in and the area type options setup to create two columns. I would like to have a paragraph break move to the second column using some sort of column break (number enter key in indesign). Is this possible in illustrator?
I am drafting a lengthy document, including copying and pasting passages from other documents, and on one page the text only goes half way down the page (even though the text frame fills the whole page) before jumping to the next page ~ how do I remove this empty gap in the text?
Currently working on a PowerPoint styled animation.I've parented the source text of 5 text layers to 1 text layer so I can easily alter the text. It is essential that I have 5 identically texted layers.
My requirement isn't much: To assign colors to individual words without having to separate those words into different layers.
I have a problem, gaps are visible between the steps when using 3D bevel on text in illustrator CS6, even after expanding appearance. It looks bad in illustrator and rasterized in photoshop, which is where I want it.
With shapes that are intended to fit exactly with one another, such as shapes created with pathfinder>divide I find often that there are very small cracks between the shapes and that these will show up if the shapes are exported to Photoshop in a more pronounced way.
What's the workaround to 'seal' one shape to another and rid the result of these gaps?
Joining the shapes is not an option as they are different colours.
I try to create a patternbrush using an image. Image is created in PS and lines up nice horizontaly. Droping it into Illustrator. From there I drag and drop it onto the brush panel and create a patterbrush. I also include an empty rectangle to control the spacing ( suggested elsewhere ? ). If I apply that brush to a curved path there are always little gaps between the segments. How can I construct the brush without the gaps? There is a denimseam brush within Illustrator that does exactly what I try to achieve except I can not.
Im using CS6 and when saving to PDF my live paint objects have a slight gap inbetween the shapes in the live paint object. They do not appeare in the illustrator file or when saved as jpeg, png, etc only PDFs. I have been using Illustrator for a couple years now and this has not happened in previous versions I've worked with (CS3, 4, and 5)
I am trying to use the 3D 'Extrude and bevel' tool on a complex shape (a map of the UK)The vector is a compound path, when i apply the effect when its quite small it works, however when i increase the size of the shape the outline fails to render properly and hence is not filled as it should be, there are gaps in the image.
I have scale stroke and effects turned on.If i try to apply the effect on a version that is already the size i want it i get the same problem.
Drew a path in Illustrator - made it a compound path. Made a clipping mask with another object inside it. When saved as a pdf, there are these strange white gaps in the stroke of the path.....
When I use the knife tool on an shapeit leaves a gap where I slice. First I thought it was just an illusion in the program but it stays even after I've exported the image (both by "save as" in illustrator and "export" in inDesign). I've been careful not to move the shapeafter I used the tool so I don't think that should be a reason.
I've tried on different types of shapes like normal circles and more complex shapes. I've also attempted to start a new file from scratch but with the same result What could the reason be? Is there a setting I should be aware of?
This is what I see in Illustrator:
And this is what the image looks like when saved as pdf (in illustrator):
It also looks the same if I place it in inDesign and then export to pdf.
EDIT: I don't know if it is important but the size of the shape is about an A4 or there about.
I want to fill the gaps on the edge of the page using the gap tool. I can see it is detecting some gaps but I was wondering what the custom gap option does? and if I could use it to close the specific gaps I want to close. I figured there would be a way using the pen tool so I drew a straight path across the edge and tried to join the paths together using command j but it didn't seem to work :/ I am quite new to illustrator
I started to use Illustrator since CS2 and done heaps of shapes using the 3d feature.ever since cs5 and beyond, ive encountered a problem when ever I import or copy paiste from illustrator into Photoshop my 3d shape tends to have missing blend steps. I'm setting it to 256 blend steps to get a smooth transition but when i import my Ai into ps or copy paiste it notice that it leaves some small gaps in between the blends. Now does this happen to any other users?
On the left is illustrator using 3d and on the right is the copy paisted/imported Ai file, ive put a red shape behind the yellow ace of spade to make it clear that the red is noticeable.
im writing text inside a shape and ive got that far ive even changed font sizes, now id like to write smaller text in the gaps between different font sizes. im using PSCS2.
I have successfully assembled three images into a workable form. Now I want to add a text line to the image. GIMP's text system seems to be very cryptic, what with pathing and other terms that don't seem to have a definition as far as I have found. All I want is a single line of common text characters. Nothing fancy, no text jumping out of a cornucopia or being carried by a dirigible, no clowns or frogs. Just plain text.
when i try to use marquee tool by clicking on it Photoshop cs6 closes or I see an error message and then it closes? text tool causes the same problem? im using xp sp3.
I just installed CS 6 Cloud and now I can't copy, cut, or import from Illustrator anymore. It crashes flash, fireworks, and Photoshop. Illustrator cs6 x86 won't open any files at all. I'm on Windows 7, Dell Precision, 8 GB ram. What to do with all these mdmp crash logs?
All of a sudden, I cannot get text to word-wrap. Instead, it's just a single line of text and all the words stack on top of each other, regardless of the size of the text box or any other settings. This happened after the last update. The program is CC updated.
I have Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 (64-bit). I'm trying form a text box where the words form a perfect square (allowing for different words to be different sizes). How would I do this? It's a concept that is a little hard to explain.
Couldn't wait for the CD so started into Ver 7 Designer Pro. (Win 7 Pro 64 bit) I opened a PDF I had created in another graphics package (Canvas) and every letter of a word was like a single text entry.
I opened same file in my PDF writer and selected some text, copied to word and it copied as words not text entities.
Out of the blue, my type tool has been acting funny in Illustrator CS6. Generally my text boxes or bounding boxes are outlined in blue. However, now they are black. I'm not sure what instigated the change. Now I am typing in illustrator and it won't show any spaces between words. In the character pannel, the kerning is set to auto and tracking is set to 0. What are these black text boxes of death?
I've encountered a problem which is a first for me with Ai CS4, and that is I'm working on a cat illustration but I'm drawing hairs using a brush I've made that have anywhere from 4-5 strokes with multiple colors to mimic the look of hair. Everything was working fine until I used the hand tool to move the artboard around and the image pixelated a bit. Zooming in/out takes a bit of time as well, and then drawing any further strokes from a fresh boot now that I've saved my progress seem to be cached, then appear slowly one at a time afterwards.
I've got a Macbook Pro with 2.4ghz i5 cpu, 4gb ram, running osx 10.7.5. I'm wondering if I'm pushing the limits of the intel integrated graphics card. I have a Mac Pro at home with 8gb of ram although I learned recently that Ai CS4 only utilises 2gb of ram max. Regardless, my tower at home has a dedicated graphics card, ATI I believe.
System monitor reads 346mb free, 920mb wired, 2.03 active, 750mb inactive, used 3.66gb.
Trying to narrow it down to being operator error IE: too complex for Illustrator, or possibly the laptop hardware. I'd love to get back to work on this project of mine
Consequently the artboard size is 11.49in x 14.92in
The Photoshop CS6 (13.0.4) selection, text, and shape tool causes colored artifacts on screen. I'm running on a retina Macbook Pro updated to the latest ML release. I have disabled GPU acceleration. I have also tried starting Photoshop with no plugins but this does not work.
