Illustrator :: 3D Arrows Originating From A Point In All Directions
Jul 15, 2012
I'm trying to create a Logo in Adobe Illustrator CS4 for a small company which requires me to have 3D arrows originating from a point in all directions. The arrows should be thin and not thick ones. More so, the end effect should be like sparks emanating from a center and in all directions. How to do this in Illustrator CS4 ???

I want to move two opposite anchor points in opposite directions so that they are equally spaced. So if I have one anchor point I want to move right and the other left how can i make sure that they have equal spacing apart without having to resort to rulers. Is it possible to select both points and get them to move in opposite direction together?

I want to blend two similar paths. Both paths have dashed lines as strokes, and both dashed lines go from big to small dot, in decreasing direction. I want to blend both paths, so the blend goes from big to small, in BOTH directions. The ideal ending image would show the biggest dot at the top left corner, and the smallest, at the down right corner (the final project involves two spirals, but for the sake of simplicity, I attach two straight lines).
I try to blend them, and the blend only goes in one direction, as seen in the attached samples (in the sample, it goes from top to bottom, but it doesn't go from left to right). It seems that Illustrator takes only the first dot size, and applies it as if all the path has the same dot size.

I am trying to draw a sun-like shape. I started with a star polygon and apply the Twist effect. That gets me pretty good arms on the sun, but I'd like for something a bit more flame-like, so I'd like to get the arms to now bend back in the opposite direction. Is there any way to use or modify the Twist effect so that I can apply it a second time but bend further out in the opposite direction? Or is there some other good way to get the rotation along all the arms.

I'm trying to find the best solution in Illustrator 5.5 to reproduce the attached picture below. I keep focus on the arrows only and I want to keep the controllability (number of arrows for instance) as long as possible. What I did is as follows and is quite limited:
1 - I create a stroke with no arrowhead
2 - I multiply it and translate it along x by using the transform effect (Effect, Distort and Transform, Transform...)
3 - I use the Free Transform tool to adapt the length of each stroke
4 - I then expand the appearance of the objects and add an arrowhead to every stroke.
I'd like to have the arrowheads created in step 1 and I would like to keep control of the transform effect until the end.

I'm trying to make overlapping arrows in a circle like the ones here. I pretty much have it, but I'm having trouble with how to get the layers right.
Here's what I have so far:
Note that my spacing is a little off, number 1. I tried to rotate each arrow 60 degrees, but it's not perfect.
Secondly, the bottom arrow is above everything, instead of above at the point and below at that base. How does one achieve that feat?

Having a lot of issues manipulating points on paths in Illustrator CC - this is a fundamental feature of creating vector graphics and it's very annoying I'm paying for this and it's just not working. Eating up a lot of my time simply because I can't select or convert or add the anchor.

I was doing the following steps when I encountered this problem:
1) I created a V shape with the Pen Tool.
2) After having changed my default selection tool to the Direct Selection Tool (so that I can use it later), I used the Convert Anchor Point Tool (Shift-C) to drag at the V junction to change it to more of a U shape & thus also creating a Smooth Point there, like this:
3) Then I grabbed one of the direction handles & dragged it a bit to make it a Cusp point. Like this:
As soon as I did this, the other direction handle disappeared & the anchor point also became deselected.
4) So I temporarily switched to the selection tool (the Direct Selection Tool in my case) by holding down the Cmd key and clicked on the anchor point.
Result: As soon as I clicked on the anchor point to select it and also make the other direction handle visible, the anchor point became a smooth one & the shape of the path changed dramatically - i.e., the cusp point I created was gone (see fig.)
and I had to rework on the changed path.
Is this expected? BTW, I'm working in Illustrator CS6 (Mac).

I just started working with 3ds Max this week and am having trouble pulling 4 vertices in one direction using Vertex selection along with the Uniform scale selector. When I try to pull them along the x-axis, half the vertices go in one direction and the other half go in the opposite direction.

Using CS6 on Windows 7. I've got a product photo of a product with square corners and the shot is taken on a angle so that a corner is pointed out towards you with 2 sides going away from you. I've created a copy of the layer, flipped it vertically and lowered the opacity to create a reflection. I then added a layer mask to the reflection layer and then a gradient to fade out the relection to solid white on 1 side of the product. But I need to apply a gradient to the other side of the product to fade out its reflection, but when I do this, it removes the first gradient. How can I fade out both sides of my reflection?

Photoshop displays metadata for images, including Camera Data. The latter can include Owner, but it is not told where that information comes from. It is possible that it comes from a “metadata template” as accessed by the second of the four tabs at the bottom of the Camera Data screen. There is a folder: User>Library>Application Support>Adobe>IMP>Metadata Template, but that latter folder is empty, and (quite naturally) there exists no directions for setting up any metadata template. At least one does not turn up from searching the Adobe website. There are vague hints about the existence of direction (as at URL...), but no specific directions where they are actually likely to be needed.
