View 1 Replieshow to make your render "pop-out" of the signature area. It gives a really cool effect and is really simple to do. When we are done, it will look a little like this.
OK, to begin, you need to prepare your render. I am going to use this one.
Feel free to use it if you want to.
Open up a new image with the dimensions of 400 x 125. Now you will need to make a background. I'm not going to give any real steps on how to do this, but if you look around on this site, there are many tutorials showing you how to make them. Try using this one, as it is the way I am going to make mine. Don't add the render to your background though. We will do that later.
Following those steps you will get something like this. If you want to add a border, now is the time to do it. The link to the tutorial I told you about above will also show you how to do this.
You now have both a background and a render. Press Ctrl + A to select everything. Now go to:
Image ---> Canvas Size A window like the screenshot below will appear. If you made the size of your image 400 x 125 like I told you, simply set the settings to the same as shown. If you have used a different size, double the width and height of your image and type what the numbers come to into the boxes names "Width" and "Height". Set the offset X and Y values the same as in the screenshot.
Press "Resize".
Your canvas will now look something a little like this.
This is just how you want it.
Now for your render. Open it up and it will appear in a new window. If its to big, resize it. Now go back to your signature window and make a new layer. Copy your render and paste it on to your new layer. A handy tip to know is when you press F11, it will bring The GIMP into full screen mode allowing you to see what you are doing clearly. You should get something like this. Yours will have little dotted squares all behind it though like the image above. Its OK, its how it should be.
Now add some text or whatever you want on your signature. A cool way to make text look good is to type what you want out on to your signature in white, move it to where you want it to be, set that layer's mode to "Overlay" and then duplicate it untill it looks nice. Heres what I got. Again, squares should still be present.
Now merge all the visible layers by pressing Ctrl + M. Select the first option. Now right click on the layer in the layers window and select "Alpha to Selection". This will select all your signature. Copy it by pressing Ctrl + C. Then go to:
Edit ---> Paste as New
This will open up a new window with your signature in it. Go to:
File ---> Save as . . .
Save it as "Popout Signature.png" it must be in a .png for it to work.
Thats it your all done! This is what I got.
I've converted hundreds of photos to B/W and used the eraser tool or masking to bring out the color detail from background.
I received one last night exactly the same image information that was on the other files. It was taken from my daughter's cell and previous pictures she sent never had a problem.
.jpg
72 PPI
RGB-8bit channel
Duplicated the background converted it to B/W in the Effect>Photo Effects>Black and White Film Clicked on eraser and instead of my daughter's white teeth there was an orange transparent area where I erased.I tried masking with the same effect.
I am trying to add the orangy-morning/evening overlay to an image.
I have a high resolution version of this image and I'm trying to add an orangy overlay so it looks like the morning/evening, so it looks like the third image below (Making a high resolution version of it).
I've tried playing around with hue and saturation without much success.
creating a signature only seen (signed in black ink,) with a transparent background. I'm a small business owner with employee ID cards. The card background has lines and a few images that I would like the signature to go over with the background being seen as is. When I try importing or copy & paste a gif signature from one of my employee’s onto the business card, the white background still shows. I am using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4.

The image in the middle is my .gif, and it is playing on the football field/players/text background. However, when I save the .gif, the background is the 1st frame, and then disappears from the 2nd frame onward as the .gif plays. How can I make the .gif play on the background?
Thats just it! how do you make an interesting background? I cant seem to find out how to,
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have followed about a dozen tutorials on how to make a background transparent and it seems as though I am doing everything right but... When I go to import my new image to PrintMaster it gives me a warning that the transparency may turn black. It does darken the transparency and has a noticable rectangle around the image that should have a transparent background. I have tried exporting the image in every form possible and nothing seems to work.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to make the background transparent, so as usual, I used the fuzzy tool and then, tried to cut the background out, but it actually cuts out more parts then I need it to(it cuts out other parts with similar colours), so is there a way that I can pick a colour specifically and then cut the part with that colour out?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using GIMP for a while but it's just recently I've come across this issue as I have to deal with something I've never done before. I have a .gif that I want to tile across the canvas of an image to use as a background. Then I have a normal image I want to show on top of that. The main issue seems to be the tiling, as when I export the whole thing as a gif, it plays each iteration of the gif before going onto the next one. I want to know how I can get them all to play at once.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a fairly simple and straightforward way to make an image's background transparent (for example, a transparent .gif) without using layers. Similar to some apps that have an eyedropper tool used to create transparencies.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHowever, I am not quite satisfied: whatever I try, the background never seem to match with the characters (I know most of you will find it awful, but my goal is to get it to be somewhat plausible, now it seems just too fake).

I wrote my signature on piece of paper, then scanned it in, removed the white background, leaving just the signature in blue ink on a transparent background and saved it as a .gif. HOWEVER, I need to make the signature darker blue. I've used clipping masks in the past, but cannot figure how to do this in Paint.net.
I made duplicate copy of the original .gif, then created a layer and filled it with a darker blue. What do I do from here so that when I put the layers together the signature is darker, but the background is still translucent?
I am taking photo's of jewellery on a white background which shows as anything on a color scale from light blue through to grey. How can I make all my background colors the same shade of white.

I'm also trying to make an animated section to it that has a kinda electrical charge effect, or the flare that runs along a line of lit gunpowder, to the outer edge of the centre section - the bars that hold the name section and the name itself. I've tried a few basic animation techniques but not been able to close to effect I want.
I am trying to trace my signature using Pen Tool to later appear as a shape in the Custom Shape Options. When I trace all the image, using the free form pen tool, the Define Custom Shape option does not appear.

While I still try, unsuccessfully, to get Gimp to run on my Mac...
I'm not a graphic artist, but I do have a task I would like to accomplish, so a couple of quick questions?
It's been over 10 years since I experimented with graphics software of any kind other than resize and/or convert from one format to another.
Scenario to illustrate my question:
I create a new graphic, of X by Y proportions. Create a black circle in the center of the graphic. Save graphic.
When I import the graphic into a document, web page, email composition window, etc., I would like only the black circle to display when the background is a color other than white. IOW, I want the unused/blank part of the graphic to be transparent.
I've found the online manual to be confusing to follow, since I can't easily "thumb" through the pages to see a picture of the effect I want to accomplish, and I'm not sure of the correct terminology.
I found a PDF manual for 2.4, are there instructions that cover this? I'm not really interested in printing it, or having it printed. If the manual were for 2.6, I would consider having it printed.
I tried searching for this "signature+frame+batch" but did not come up with anything. maybe i using the wrong 'words'
I want to create a frame on each of my pictures and then at the bottom right hand corner have my name.
I have watched another person move a signature from one location to another and then clone the area where he took it from. This was so that I could crop a painting for print to fit a certain size and needed to. It will happen quite a bit for me, as artists sign fairly close to the bottom edge generally.
