Jan 21, 2010When I start up my GIMP in windows, it indexes the fonts every first time that I start after a reboot.I am using windows 7, is there anyway to tell gimp not to index the fonts ?

Jun 16, 2005I installed a large number of fonts on my computer (27720). Mostly all of my programs that use fonts Word, FIreworks, Dreamweaver, etc.. work just fine. But Photoshop chokes on them when loading and its performance goes to nothing causing it to freeze/take very long times to do anything (I had to let it startup over night).
I'm assuming its trying to do some big operation with them at start up. Does anyone know of anything that might might fix photoshop (CS) into skipping or avoiding what ever it is it does with fonts that makes it so slow when given a large amount?
Obviously the apparent solution would be to remove the fonts and I would if it were all the programs acting up, but it's just photoshop and im hoping there is some easy option fix :/.

Nov 7, 2002I've downloaded some fonts and I placed them all into the Fonts folder in my Windows directory, but none of the new fonts that I have doesn't show up in the font drop down menu in my PS 7. Am I supposed to place them in the Adobe directory or what did I or what was I supposed to do?

Dec 31, 2007For some reason the fonts that I have on my computer aren't working in photoshop. It kinda makes me mad because all the normal fonts are ugly. Some worked, but some haven't. All of the fonts are in the Windows font folder.

AutoCad :: Linestypes And Custom Fonts Not Loading Correctly
Jun 7, 2012One of our Autocad Map 3D 2011 users is having the problem that custom fonts aren't automatically loading anymore, and when they use a command that draws a line with a custom linetype it is always drawn as continuous. This is a recent problem and the fonts used to load automatically as well as the linetypes drawn correctly. It isn't a problem with the linetypes not being loaded in the drawing because after using the custom command they are able to go to the layer and change the linetype to the correct one fixing the problem.

Oct 21, 2013never knew there has a font folder in the user profile for Gimp until I wiped my user profile and moved all patterns, gradients, brushes, etc I have been putting in the program folder to the user profile folder because I read on here that it is better to keep all that stuff in the user profile folder of Gimp... my question is, what is the difference between installing your fonts into the system and placing them into the fonts folder in Gimp (besides all programs being able to use them)?? I've been installing all my fonts into the system I wanna use in Gimp... is it better to use the font folder in the Gimp user profile or to install them into the system?

I think you should read the original mail again. Hint: "system fonts not shown" is not the problem, but the desired outcome.I have accidentally read a "not" into the original mail, thus it became "to get Gimp to *not* only show fonts from the user/fonts file"
The configuration to check is the fonconfig settings then, for example the the global, system-wide fonts.conf file. It may contain references to the global font directories, for example /usr/share/fonts/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. URL....
If you comment those out, then you can (and have to) add all font directories in GIMP's settings, for example.
Photoshop :: PS & Crashes On Loading At "sorting Fonts"
Jul 7, 2003I have a large number of images in my Dell 8250 (>12,000) Lately when I try to start PS7 it crashes when it hits "Sorting fonts" Am also having trouble with Outlook Express crashing when I try to attach image file to an e-mail. Have uninstalled and reinstalled PS7 four times to no avail. Any suggestions appreciated. 512mb memory. 120gig Hard disc.

I don't have Photoshop, by the way. I use .psd format because I work on both GIMP and SAI. I tried to open it at SAI, but there were nothing but lines. The colors went missing.

Jan 2, 2014I have been using GIMP for a few weeks now and all of a sudden I cannot start the program anymore. During start up of GIMP 2.8 it displays a window saying it is loading data files. It gets as far as loading 'Tool presets' when it crashes. I tried restarting the computer and also uninstalling and re-installing GIMP with the same end result.

GIMP :: Open AI File Not Loading Full Image
Apr 5, 2012I am trying to open an .AI file, and am having almost success. Instead of loading the whole image, it cuts off about 50% of the image, leaving just the center. I altered the rendering width and height in the Import from PostScript window and it successfully extended the image to include the right side, but the left is still truncated. How can I get this whole image to open?
I can resort to just mirroring the left and right sides to fill in the blanks, but I would really rather not do that if it is possible.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit, with Gimp ver 2.6.11

GIMP :: Loading PNG Images Into TImage32 At Design-time With Delphi 2006
Mar 27, 2013I have a series of PNG images which have been authored from various sources, but mostly with Gimp. The images have transparent backgrounds and use partial transparency effects like drop shadow, etc. I want to display these on a bitmap layer of the TImage32 component from Graphics32.
I have dropped a TImage32 component onto my form, with the intention being to set the visibility to off, and use the TImage32 as a container for the PNG image I want to draw on the layer.
When I go to load the image at design-time, the dialog has two tabs - it allows me to load the RGB image, and the alpha channel, and I don't know how to produce these - I prouce the image by using the export to PNG function of Gimp. If I load the exported PNG into both the RGB channel and the alpha channel the resulting image doesn't have the transparent background. There obviously must be a procedure I need to follow to get Gimp to produce both the RGB and alpha channels.

Dec 22, 2012I have been trying to get my gimp 2.8 fonts to work but they all look similar including the wingdings. I have checked with a word document and the fonts do work. And when I go thru C: to gimp and font folder the wingdings show correctly (eg shapes) in the preview pane. But when i am in gimp and select text and start to type every font looks the same and just types a bold looking abc etc. What can i do.

Jul 18, 2013I was wondering (I know it sounds counter intuitive) if its possible to get mac fonts to appear in windows gimp. I'm trying to redo images using gimp on a windows computer that come from .psd files created with a mac. The fonts (though Tahoma in both) don't look remotely similar because mac fonts are different from windows fonts apparently. Is there some sort of workaround I can use in gimp to make them look more similar? The mac font looks so much smoother and "full-er".....I wish i could say the same about the windows one. And yes, I am using the same size, color, and font in both images.

PDF/X format is used. PDF/X is preferred, but if you are submitting non-PDF/X files (for example, PDF/A), any comments, forms, or other non-printing objects could be removed during our review process.
Transparent objects are flattened.
Spreads and printer's marks are disabled.
Downsampling, or decreasing resolution, of images is disabled.
Bleeds are enabled (if applicable).

Is there anyway to speed up the loading time. Like some code that will tell it load specific number of frames first and then load the rest in the background?
