When I start up my GIMP in windows, it indexes the fonts every first time that I start after a reboot.I am using windows 7, is there anyway to tell gimp not to index the fonts ?

I have an image that loads every time I startup Photoshop CS6. I delete it and work on other images then quit. When I restart the same image opens upon startup even though I have not worked on it and I have deleted it. How do I stop this from happening?
View 8 Replies View RelatedPremierePro CS6 was working fine until I updated an unrelated dll file for another (audio editing) program.
The file is a VST: Kontakt 5 8out.dll (Native Instruments).
Although PremierePro is suppose to be able to use 3rd party VSTs they usually crash for me so I export the audio, edit it, then reimport it.
How can I start PPro bypassing all plugins, then disable them?
I bought a full copy of Videostudio Pro X4 about a month ago after experimenting with the trial version for a good while, and it was all running smoothly until I was adding some rain effects to a rather large movie, and it said something along the lines of not enough space to load something, and then all the FX thumbnails disappeared. When i closed the program and tried to reopen it, it said "Error loading from stream" followed by a "Videostudio Pro has encountered an unspecific error and needs to close, please contact Corel Support and include a copy of the Dump file.". And now every time I try to load the program it gives me this error, and thats without loading the actual project that the file had the initial error on. All the files within the folder were captured via VS either as Video or as Stop-Motion so are under the default settings as I havent changed them or converted them atall.
I cant find anything on the knowledge base about this, and neither on these forums. I'm unsure how I send the Dump File, which I have found to Corel? I'm abit confused from the warranty support bit of the page where it says about having a one-off chance to contact them? So obviously I dont want to mess up my one chance so thought I'd check here what to do next!
A re-install of the program seems the logical next step but will I lose my project?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed a large number of fonts on my computer (27720). Mostly all of my programs that use fonts Word, FIreworks, Dreamweaver, etc.. work just fine. But Photoshop chokes on them when loading and its performance goes to nothing causing it to freeze/take very long times to do anything (I had to let it startup over night).
I'm assuming its trying to do some big operation with them at start up. Does anyone know of anything that might might fix photoshop (CS) into skipping or avoiding what ever it is it does with fonts that makes it so slow when given a large amount?
Obviously the apparent solution would be to remove the fonts and I would if it were all the programs acting up, but it's just photoshop and im hoping there is some easy option fix :/.
I've downloaded some fonts and I placed them all into the Fonts folder in my Windows directory, but none of the new fonts that I have doesn't show up in the font drop down menu in my PS 7. Am I supposed to place them in the Adobe directory or what did I or what was I supposed to do?

One of our Autocad Map 3D 2011 users is having the problem that custom fonts aren't automatically loading anymore, and when they use a command that draws a line with a custom linetype it is always drawn as continuous. This is a recent problem and the fonts used to load automatically as well as the linetypes drawn correctly. It isn't a problem with the linetypes not being loaded in the drawing because after using the custom command they are able to go to the layer and change the linetype to the correct one fixing the problem.

I think you should read the original mail again. Hint: "system fonts not shown" is not the problem, but the desired outcome.I have accidentally read a "not" into the original mail, thus it became "to get Gimp to *not* only show fonts from the user/fonts file"
The configuration to check is the fonconfig settings then, for example the the global, system-wide fonts.conf file. It may contain references to the global font directories, for example /usr/share/fonts/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. URL....
If you comment those out, then you can (and have to) add all font directories in GIMP's settings, for example.
It's probably something to do with the brushes 'cause when the folder (for the brushes) was still empty; Gimp started without any problems. And now, when the brushes are there, Gimp keeps on crashing. I'm 100% sure that this never happened to me when I was using the 2.6 version. URL....

It will get to 'loading fonts' and then it will stop. I don't have any extra fonts, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, and I've also tried installing previous versions and then updating them but nothing seems to be working.

I was using 2.6.8 but this is obviously the right version for my computer specs. Just a couple of Gimp startup questions. How can I start the Gimp without the Splash Screen? Also, when the Gimp starts, there are 2 long, rectangular boxes. How can I get the "Layers, Channels, Paths" etc. box not to be part of the Gimp startup? But, yesterday, I just wanted to open it, actually the startup loads well, but somehow, stopped while attempt to loading fonts, so, I force to close it with task manager. And opening it again. My gimp startup doesn't load earlier, and suddenly loading fonts once the startup opened up. A little moment, my Gimp was not responding, and make the whole WINDOWS NOT RESPONDING. The only way I can, is just shutting it down, forced it, by plugging off the power source
little note, I'm running Gimp 2.8 inside of 32 bit windows 7.

With some effort, I have configured it to have an administrator account and a normal user account.
Today I downloaded the latest GIMP and installed it on the administrator account. The program starts fine (albeit painfully slowly) and seems to run normally on the administrator account. However, in the normal user account, Gimp gets part way through loading and crashes as shown in this image:
what the error message: "The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way" might mean?
I installed Gimp 2.8 for Windows tonight on an XP SP3 system and it hangs for more than 30min when starting (never completes initializing). Gimp 2.8 takes 50% CPU and 184Mb RAM and sits "Gathering Data" with no further progress. I end up killing the process.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled into a fresh directory with no change. I gave up and tried to reinstall 2.6 and get almost the same issue except RAM usage goes up to 550Mb and it sits at the startup screen.
I experienced this issue with Gimp 2.6 whenever I had a lot of brushes in the brush folder. The only way I found to avoid the problem was to have less brushes in it. As a result, I never got to really use all of them like I had intended to.
The current version I'm using is 2.8. I updated Gimp because I saw the tagging system. I figured it'd be easier to locate the brushes I want to use. The program worked fine up until I added more folders to the brush folder to take advantage of the tagging system. Now the start-up freezes and crashes when it's updating the tagging cache.
In general, Gimp seems to get mad at me when I add a crap ton more than it's comfortable with.
I have a large number of images in my Dell 8250 (>12,000) Lately when I try to start PS7 it crashes when it hits "Sorting fonts" Am also having trouble with Outlook Express crashing when I try to attach image file to an e-mail. Have uninstalled and reinstalled PS7 four times to no avail. Any suggestions appreciated. 512mb memory. 120gig Hard disc.

I done it for the first time last year and accomplished it through Table of Contents(TOC) I saved it in my How to and when I tried to do it again this year it's problematic, not only putting my business in alpha but also putting my page numbers in alpha (they don't match up).
View 2 Replies View RelatedPSE 10 Elements Organizer in "Building index ..." has stayed at 73% for 17 hours. Is it frozen? Is it time to cancel and re-start indexing? Reason for asking, when tried to convert PSE 8 to 10 in April, Adobe did not state that the freeze at 34% was "normal". Have since then not been able to do a backup and had to manually move 4000+ photos from various files (resulting from the multiple conversion attempts) into the appropriate file to reconnect and just completed that task yesterday. All files were reconnected; the catalog was repaired even though did not need to be and now the indexing problem. It's been a long 6 months of struggle.
