I do web development and I am attempting to see if I can ween off Photoshop for what I do, (mainly cutting up images) is there a way to have Gimp view a PS file and include the hierarchy of the layers that are originally laid out in Photoshop?

I've enlarged it and tried to crop, but it eliminates what I'd like to be shown, which is what appears in imageA.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an image that was originally scanned as a bitmap. It need some minor levels adjustment. I can make the adjustments just fine. Everything looks good on the screen but when I flatten it or export it as pdf the adjustments disappear, ie reverts to original image. I have tried converting to grayscale and RGB. I've even tried copying the image and pasting into a new document - nothing seems to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecieved dwg to modify that I think was originally made in Solidworks. In the drawing each projection and the isometric view appears in a separate cell that can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel independently of the other projections.
I want to be able to lock these cells if that's what they nare into only one 2D drawing so I can make the modifications.
When I try to scale the objects the item balloons and dimensions don't scale. When I try to copy w/ base point to another template, I only get the dimensions and item balloons. When I delete the border in the cell then the object is also deleted.
I'm using acad lt09
Encountered a bug when copying and pasting text from one text box to another? It seems to paste more text than I originally selected. I am on Mac OS X 10.6.8 and my AI is 16.0.4.

I am having problem during hierarchy in key wording.As shown in A, sometimes it does auto completes but as shown in B many times it doesn’t and manual entry is needed. People have mention on adobe forum it shouldn’t be working but its working sometimes.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I access in Lightroom 4.4 a folder which had been edited originally (and imported) in Lightroom 3, the options and settings for Developing and editing in LR 4 change to appear like the old options in LR3 (Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light and Blacks, instead of Highlights, shadow, whites and blacks etc..). Why is Lightroom 4 doing this. Most of the files I am trying to edit have not been touched before in LR 3 but were simply imported originally into the catalogue from LR3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDue to consolidating space on my hard drive I changed the location of the orginaly linked files (MXF footage). Having relinked in both Pr and Ae (CS6 latest updates as of posting date) to the new file location all looks good until I try to view the horizontally flipped clip in the sequence. If I look at the footage on Ae its all there, every frame. In the effects for the clip the opacity is as it should be -100%- but there is no image. I see the background footage (working with green screen foreground -hence the Ae project using Keylight plug-in). The non flipped footage from the exact same Ae file is as clear as day.

my gimp 2.8.6 makes majority normal layers turn into text layers..
Even if i "discard text information" from layer..and then save it as .xcf it doesnt work! Same layers appear as text layers when i open that .xcf Its not a big deal but it really slows me down when im working with layers..
I merged my layers down to scale to proportion and I thought I was done with the project, so I saved it and exported. I then learned that I did something incorrectly, so I went back to the project only to remember I merged the layers and I don't know how to undo that. How do you revert the layers back to layers?

I set up a quick test with the above if else statement to pinpoint that that is where the problem originates as it always exits on signal 671. I'm building this in Visual Studio 2008.
With every version of Lightroom including LR5.3, I've continually had a problem with keywords moving out of order in my keyword hierarchy every time I export images to another PC for example or another folder on the same PC. It makes a mess of my keyword list as well as creates more work putting them all back in place.

In Lightroom 3 when write hierarchy in notepad everything in {...} does not display in Lightroom Keyword list but is automatically exported as keyword tag. This is not the case in Lightroom 4.

When you tick on Giant Golden Mole in Lightroom 3 for instance, the latin name (Chrysospalax trevelyani) as well as the order (Afrosoricida) and family (Chrysochloridae) is automatically tagged. Only the latin name appears though in Lightroom 4 !!
Why oh why when I export any image from one folder to another do I end up with most keywords applied to that image written to my hierarchical keyword list as a new 1st level keyword and not under the parent keyword as they should be? I've tried everything. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, with the latest LR 3. Export Synonyms, Include on Export, Export containing keywords are all checked with all the keywords and I've unchecked the Write Keywords as Hierarchy in the Export dialogue. With every export I have to clean up my keyword list and I'm at wits end with wasted hours.

I have difficult masks that were created in LR3 and took alot of time due to feathers on a complicated background. I do not want to have to re-mask everything in LR4. When I have imported my files to LR4 the original LR3 mask is still present. However, the sliders for Temp, Tint, Hightlights, Shadows, Saturation, Noise, Moire and Defringe are missing. I want to do localized noise control to keep feather sharpness so I need the Noise slider.
If I work on a photo that had no LR3 mask all sliders are available. If a mask from LR3 exists I am missing sliders. URL...

This involves recomposing scanned images into a new layout, recreating text from matched fonts - that sort of thing. Unfortunately, some of the scanned images (originally printed offset press in cmyk) were printed with one or more of the plates out of register, creating a halo effect on one side. Can this be corrected in PhotoPaint? Is there a way to create each channel as an object which could be moved to realign the colors and then flattened again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want a new catalog with small jpgs and the hierarchical keywords. But I seem to be able to get each part of that individually but I can't seem to get them all at the same time.
If I select images and export them with "Write Keywords as Lightroom Hierarchy" checked, then import those new jpgs into a new catalog, my keywords are a flat list without the hierarchy. I tried exporting my keyword hierarchy as *.txt then importing it into an empty catalog so the hierarchy already existed. When I imported the new jpgs into that catalog, the keywords still came in as a flat list appended to the hierarchical keyword list.
I tried selecting the images and importing as a new catalog, which gives me a new catalog, but the new catalog has the original raw images.
I'm using Maya 2011 and I'm noticing, there are transform nodes in the outliner hierarchy for my skeleton. Should these be deleted? Some of them delete cleanly and some of them delete taking the bone with them. ???
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a PSD made in Phoshop. In this file I have layers named button which has a blue gradient color:
1. Created a round rectangle tool.
2. Under styles menu, I chose another style which I downloaded from the web (n ASL file).
The problem is that in GIMP I can't see the colors in the layers and only see the base style which is black and white.
Wandering in the web I have downloaded the three scripts from [URL] ... into the plug-ins directory of GIMP, but still it looks like I can't import an ASL file into GIMP.
The weird thing is that opening the PSD in a simple picture viewer (Gwenview) I can see the colors perfectly but I obviously can't work with the layers.
You can see in the attached files a snapshot of the picture as supposed to be (orig.jpg) and as seen in Gimp (gimped.jpg)

Question 2: I don't know what I do... but by selecting other tools or just clicking around like mad - the ants go away. Yippeee! Except... damn! The layer has now gone into the background and I can't move it around any more
I am installing the programs on my new 64 bits computer , which runs windows 8 in a language which is not english.At the very beginning of the setup I noticed that it detected the language of sist. op. and that it would install cs6 in such language.
If I install cs6 I will have all menus , tools and resources in other language and it will be very cumbersome to work with it.Perhaps with the best of the intention to make people feel comfortable with their own language you have made it this way.But there are several other guys like me that want it IN ENGLISH. As a long time user of photoshop I never worked in other language than english and I will never do it.
It looks like it is a new trend to detect the op sistem language , I have had the same problem with Nero Platinum 12 , and others.Is there a way to install Cs6 in English ?
I would like to know how I can include a colorimetric profile ICC in Photoshop cs 5 ?
