View 1 RepliesMy dodge / burn tool lightens great.
Is there a button to get it to darken instead?
use of 'quality' and 'weight' under 'smooth stroke' in say dodge/burn tool. This option is available under some other tools too but I am not able to find the effect of these options even after scouring the net and could not find any difference after changing the default values.
Version GIMP 2.8.X from software centre of Ubuntu 13.04; no modifications, no extras.
Just recently upgraded from Photoshop CS5.5 64bit to Photoshop CS6 64 bit. Crashes when using burn tool, crop tool, or dodge tool?

What does dodging mean?
Is there some link that explains what each tool does in somewhat simple language?
I upgraded to PS 5.5 on my Mac I've had this problem with the dodge tool.I can change hrd/softness fine, but now way will the little 'tails' at either end of the stroke disappear, whether shape dynamics is switched on or off, All I want is to be able to have a fading stroke, not a fade and taper.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using PS 5.5 to work on a .tif file scanned from a photo negative of a building. The dodge tool & burn tool do not work, even when I set the exposure to 100%. The history palette shows "dodge tool" each time I click in the image, but nothing happens. I tried these tools in a another similar file & both dodge & burn work fine. What could cause these tools not to work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy not add a tool to Paint.NET? I'm pretty sure this program's development is also based around creating a image editing and creation program to where everything is simplified greatly.
I do understand that you can easily do this type of stuff with the line tool and opacity settings but really it would be towards the convenience of users.
I'm used to working with a zoom that increases by 10% per click below 100%, and 20% above that. Is there a way to duplicate this? Using a drop-down menu is just too slow.
View 14 Replies View RelatedCS2 dodge tool stopped working as set, yet Burn, Sponge, Clone Tools all work; dodge tool leaves centered white specks if clicked multiple times; all my CS1 tools work; all my CS2 & CS1 tool settings are same (0 hardness, 20% exposure), rebooting does not fix; Is it possible to create this problem by accidentally typing Shift, Alt or Ctrl "," or "." or similar whilst using CS2 Dodge Tool?

Regardless of the brush diameter or hardness when using the dodge tool to lighten an area of a photograph, it only lightens a very small area in the center of the brush and then only after repeated clicks. The burn tool seems to operate as normal (the whole area of the brush regardless of diameter).
Looking to start using RAW files more often to process my images.
Tried to use the dodge tool with a RAW file over the weekend and recieved a notification saying somthing along the lines of "Cannot use this function with a 16bit file, must convert to 8bit"
I also recieved a similar message when trying to use the magic brush tool.
I would like to be able to adjust exposure, color, contrast (clarity) etc. when working with a RAW file. Would like to be able to adjust these parameters using the select tool, and would also like to be able to "brush" theses adjusments on. Also, if there is a Gradual ND filter function available, i would like to know where to find it.
Is it possible to do these things (with a RAW image) using PSE? If so, how?
Or do I have to purchase Lightroom if i want to work with RAW images?

View 1 Replies View Relatedget my pen (Wacom Intuos 2) to work properly with dodge tool like the mouse? It is the dodge effect was made by mouse..It is by the pen (same brush size)
The brush becomes too small and has a hardness effect, not smooth at all. If I size up the brush real large it's still not right (like in lower corner) and it's hard to control because I hardly see the brush movement. Pressing the pen tip on the tablet pen/mouse mode didn't.
I'm using Photoshop Elements 10 -dodge tool to whiten the background of my product pictures. I highlight the background all white, and upload the pic to my website. The next day some spots in the background goes back to gray.
Here is a sample picture with the same problem:[URL]
I was doing it before, but now it keeps losing saturation when I use the dodge/burn tool. I must have changed a setting or something.

How do I combine a fuzzy selection area with a dodge or burn operation?
The fuzzy select tool is handy for roughly outlining areas of over or under exposure. There must be a way to combine an oddly-shaped fuzzy selection area with a jittery dodging operation. Do I have to turn the fuzzy selection area into a "brush" somehow, in order to "dodge or burn" that area?
could somebosdy please explain the diff. between linear dodge/color dodge and the linear burn/color burn settings of the brush tool?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to nudge an object less than the standard of one pixel?
View 4 Replies View Relatedincrease productivity and usability with the selection tool. When a large image is zoomed out and you create a selection, obviously not every mouse increment can correspond to increasing or decreasing the width or height by a single pixel.
But this can cause some problems. For example, if I am viewing an image at just 50%, the selection will increment or decrement by 2px starting at 1px, leading each increment to be an odd number. For those working in design, this can be somewhat frustrating especially when trying to create selections 300x200, or some other even number. To remedy this, I suggest snapping these selections to increments of five. So instead of the with going 235,237,239,241 it would go 235,237,240,241. That way you hit every single multiple of five and ten.
How do I adjust the zoom increments in the viewport. I tried just making what I'm working on a lot bigger but it scales with the object and I can't see anything. Its either too far away or too close to be even remotely workable.

In a document that is 20 cm square, I have to set the drop shadow to 0.07, 0.07 and a blur of 0.08 and in a document 90 x 55 cm, the drop shadow is .2, .2 and blur .3. I thought it might be in my preferences General is cm, Stroke and Type .. Points. Using CS6.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have used many different video editing packages and really like videostudio. The high quality output and many features make it a solid product.
However, I am confused why there is no way to change the speed of an audio or video clip in smaller than 1% increments. 1% is a very large increment, even when dealing with a 3 minute clip. An exact sync is near-impossible. .1% would be a great deal better.
I see in the 'change speed' dialog that you can also choose the clip duration, down to 10ths of seconds. But when I do this it seems to 'snap' to the nearest percent.
Is there no way to change the speed in smaller increments than 1% or am I missing something?
I have a profile set up with a surface an alignment and a Water Main. I would like to place grade breaks (Using Profile labels) every 100' along the surface however the increment field isn't available for grade breaks. Weeding doesn't work because it needs to be exactly every 100' I was thinking of creating an expression for it however I still haven't reached that level of expertise.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCannot make snap to grid to work, tried the following and while trying I came across another issue. If align to pixel grid is unchecked when opening new documents then snap to grid does not work, but the smart guides don't work either. They appear only when the align to pixel grid is rechecked in the transform panel. Now no snap no smart guides either.
Is there another option other than in preferences for the snap to grid to work or the smart guides to work?
Also, I set my grid to lines every 10mm subdivisions every 1mm and my keyboard increments to 10mm so why then does my 10x10mm no stroke no fill square move 11mm with each keyboard stroke? Set this up so that the object would then snap to the grid, but it does not, whether or not the align to pixel grid is checked or unchecked either way it does not work.
Latest lion latest illustartor update, in the wishful thinking that it would fix it, but still have the same problem.
deleted the cache too still nothing.
p.s I do not know what changed, but it used to work before
When I have a graphic selected and would like to "nudge" it just a little, if I use one of the arrow keys, it moves it alot. I don't know where to go in preferences (?) to make any changes, and then I'm not sure what to look for to do so.
View 3 Replies View RelatedUnits: pixels - Is there really no way to get keyboard increments smaller than .01 for the ultra-fine nudging? In previous versions (at least to CS4 tmk, allowed for increments up to 4 or 5 decimal points. Granted, I don't use below .001 that much, but I definitely use that quite a bit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to have a dynamic block which utilises a similar function to TCOUNT. I am doing drawings for solar panel installations and have set up a dynamic block for our different panels that we use, which i have used xy paramater with the array action to make life simple when inserting panels onto a drawing... however we number these panels 1 to ~ ... we could have 3 on one roof but we could also have over 100... is there any way to have the dynamic block auto increment the text automatically? At the moment i use the block to show 20 panels then i explode and use the tcount command to increment the text in selection order.
Or... how i could go about doing lets say a data entry for example insert block-> Dialogue for amount of panels / amount of panels in a row or column? And after selecting that data the block will automatically have numbers 1-x...
I have attached a sample block so you can try and get an understanding of what im after.
