Illustrator :: Drop Shadow Increments?
Nov 27, 2012I am having trouble with my drop shadow increments. In a document that is 20 cm square, I have to set the drop shadow to 0.07, 0.07 and a blur of 0.08 and in a document 90 x 55 cm, the drop shadow is .2, .2 and blur .3. I thought it might be in my preferences General is cm, Stroke and Type .. Points. Using CS6.

Illustrator :: Snap To Grid And Keyboard Increments
Feb 5, 2013Cannot make snap to grid to work, tried the following and while trying I came across another issue. If align to pixel grid is unchecked when opening new documents then snap to grid does not work, but the smart guides don't work either. They appear only when the align to pixel grid is rechecked in the transform panel. Now no snap no smart guides either.
Is there another option other than in preferences for the snap to grid to work or the smart guides to work?
Also, I set my grid to lines every 10mm subdivisions every 1mm and my keyboard increments to 10mm so why then does my 10x10mm no stroke no fill square move 11mm with each keyboard stroke? Set this up so that the object would then snap to the grid, but it does not, whether or not the align to pixel grid is checked or unchecked either way it does not work.
Latest lion latest illustartor update, in the wishful thinking that it would fix it, but still have the same problem.
deleted the cache too still nothing.
p.s I do not know what changed, but it used to work before

Sep 14, 2013When I have a graphic selected and would like to "nudge" it just a little, if I use one of the arrow keys, it moves it alot. I don't know where to go in preferences (?) to make any changes, and then I'm not sure what to look for to do so.

Jul 29, 2012Units: pixels - Is there really no way to get keyboard increments smaller than .01 for the ultra-fine nudging? In previous versions (at least to CS4 tmk, allowed for increments up to 4 or 5 decimal points. Granted, I don't use below .001 that much, but I definitely use that quite a bit.

At the moment, I have two handles on different adjacent points selected, and am able to move them incrementally using the direct selection tool and the arrow keys, but I don't know how they originally came to be selected (I discovered that they were accidentally), or how to transfer the selection to another handle. I'm using CS6.

Oct 24, 2012what I need to do to my PDF to ensure color are some what close to original when saving a PDF in Illustrator or InDesign. Yes i understand iPad would be using a different coor management to a desktop computer but surely there is a way to get the colors, brightness closer to original?
I notice that when doing standard and high quality saves in PDF format, the saturation and brightness contrast changes quite a bit, but if I save the image as a jpg its a lot closer.
I was just browsing a car site which seems to be exeriencing a very similar situation with one of their PDFs. When viewing in iPad have a look at how bad this looks (its way too dark) but when viewing on a desktop machine its fine.

Feb 12, 2014I recently upgraded to CC from CS5. I work on objects that have multiple elements. Since I am on CC, I am running into an annoying problem. When I copy paste an object with multiple elements, or command/option/shift + drag the object, the various elements shift in z-order.

Feb 6, 2013Using CS6 on Windows 7 and Illustrator has decided not to acknowledge my Ctrl key, Shify key or space bar.
I have tried resetting Illustrator and even deleted the App data files but it didn't work. I found people with similar problems but never a solid solution. I even uninstalled evernote when some person said that worked for them.
At the moment if I try to undo I get the Zoom tool and I can no longer save with Ctrl + S, I can't bring up the hand tool with space or use any of the more common shorctcuts. This problem only affects Illustrator in all other programs the keys work fine, including other programs in CS6.

The obvious and calculated rotation angle would be 23d27'34" but when I rotate the line by the calculated angle it doesn't rotate to the right angle. It's off by 0d11'10"!? When I draw a line by bearing at N12d52'18" E and inquiry the angle between the property line and the drawn line the angle difference is in fact 23d27'34".

Illustrator :: Having Paragraphs At An Angle
Oct 3, 2012I'd like to create a few paragraphs that have the same treatment as the one I have attached.
The key thing is to have the first letter of the first word of each line line-up under each other so that the left margin creates the appearance of a straight line.
I did the attached having each line in it's own text box, transforming them to an identical angle and then lining them up on the left side.
Is there a way to do this to a whole paragraph? I know I could just transform a whole paragraph to a different angle but the first letter of each line would not line-up with each other and create a straight line.

Jul 13, 2013I want to add some 2pt white strokes (no fill) to an Illustrator document to seperate some geometric paths, filled with color, into sections.
That works fine for rectange on the horizontal. But I also have some polygons that are on the diaganol.
How do I shape the ends of my stroke to match the diaganols? See attached for a close-up screen shot. The white is my 2pt stroke. I'd like it to terminate at the edge of the green path, not intrude into the orange.

Oct 3, 2012I'm trying to move an object a certain distance at a certain angle. I select the object and hit Enter to bring up the Move dialog. I enter the angle and distance, and instead of moving the specified distance, it moves some other distance. I don't get it. Am I doing it wrong? I can't imagine how else it's supposed to work. Here's a simple example:
Based on the angle and distance I entered in the video, the duplicate square should have been placed so that its lower right corner touches the upper left corner of the original. Instead, it only moved half an inch or so.
