When I hold down shift to scale an object or image to keep the proportions constrained, it does not work. This has only recently started to happen and it also happens on photoshop.
I don't have entourage running, which I read could be a culprit.
Would I need to reinstall my CS2?
I am using a Mac Powerbook G4, OSX 10.4.11 Adobe CS2
Have you ever had shift not work when trying to constrain proportions while scaling in illustrator CS5? I have seen some other posts on this and they mentioned quitting entourage or disabling your firewall as a fix. I am not running Entourage nor am behind a firewall. I also reset my preferences.

I try to use it to duplicate an empty circle with a coloured path while scaling it down (with the intention of using Ctrl D to continue the progression). The shortcut simple resizes the path without duplicating it.
In X5 holding [Shift] while zooming with the scroll-wheel decreases the zoom step size. In X6, holding [Shift] has no effect and CorelDraw zooms in the same large steps as when zooming without holding [shift].
I have both X5 and X6 installed. X5 performs as it should, X6 does not.
why [shift] has no effect? I desperately want the smaller zoom-steps back!
But when trying to rotate an object in 2010 3ds Max while holding shift to only rotate every 5th degree it ends up rotating the same as it would when normally rotating. I know this is a feature in the 2010 version but cannot find the shortcut key in the settings.

In the same drawing for example i can use shift to either select more than one point in a polyline, or to change between trim and extend or to fillet with a radius or to a point.
but when i try to do this with an image in the background it doesn't work. I need the image as i am tracing shapes.
I wonder if anyone can help me out with this. When I try to transform something I use the shift key while transforming to constrain the proportions but for some reason it has stopped working and I can not figure out why and how to fix it.

In SC4 it doesn't work.

My shift not working when I have some objects selected and I want to deselect something. I have the c3d 2014 with raster image. I am new to autocad and c3d and I am trying to learn from videos I find in youtube. I saw even the autocad help that mentions the shift to deselect but why this is not working.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile working with my Easy Ease, the SHIFT+F9 just no longer works or hasn't since installation. SHIFT+CTRL+F9, or F9 work as intended.(I checked the pref text file for my keyboard short cuts and SHIFT+F9 is assigned correctly)
Now when I create a preset then wish to view or browse my presets I click Animation > Browse Preset, and nothing happens.(Made a shortcut to my preset folder)
A while ago I found out you can deselect something from your current selection set by holding down the shift key and clicking on it. This was a pretty useful tool...but then it randomly stopped working today for me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to use the 3D orbiting shortcut since yesterday. I'm using a wireless Microsoft Mouse and keyboard instead of the inbuilt mouse & keyboard on my laptop (which don't seem to be executing the command either).
Up until yesterday I never had any problems orbiting the view.
I was having a few issues with shift-constrain resizing not working, and option-drag duplication not working, also using the space bar to move the document around the viewport.
OSX 10.9, InDesign 9.2.1.
I reset the preferences, restarted which failed to solve the problem.However once I updated my Wacom driver from 6.3.3 to the latest 6.3.8-2 that seemed to solve the problem.
How to set up the angle increments (stops) to be used with the shift key? I need to set it up to 30 degrees increments.

I can use shift to type upper case within Illustrator, but its not allowing me to size things proportionally. I searched within many option and menus and googled this problems without any resolution.

It's enabled me to add an Edge Animate file to my responsive Wordpress site using the Edge Suite Plugin.
Only problem for me is that although the 3.7MB file I’ve created scales perfectly on all devices it struggles to play on smartphones. (I assume it's too big and too power hungry to play smoothly on smartphones - even since I've added a pre-loader.)
So, in an ideal world, what I need is a separate low res Edge Animate file that only plays on smartphones.
Failing that, I’d be happy with a 'Down-level Stage' image which could replace the Edge Animate animation.

Unfortunately this clever solution only works when the new Responsive Scaling feature is NOT selected. As soon as it is selected, the animation no longer changes from one layout size to another when the browser window is reduced.
I don’t mind whether the fix is in Edge Animate, Wordpress or the Edge Suite Plugin - I just want a solution!

Yes i understand iPad would be using a different coor management to a desktop computer but surely there is a way to get the colors, brightness closer to original?
I notice that when doing standard and high quality saves in PDF format, the saturation and brightness contrast changes quite a bit, but if I save the image as a jpg its a lot closer.
I was just browsing a car site which seems to be exeriencing a very similar situation with one of their PDFs. When viewing in iPad have a look at how bad this looks (its way too dark) but when viewing on a desktop machine its fine.

Is it just a matter of color proofing using a specific model and drawing back on blownout levels before outputting to PDF?
I recently upgraded to CC from CS5. I work on objects that have multiple elements. Since I am on CC, I am running into an annoying problem. When I copy paste an object with multiple elements, or command/option/shift + drag the object, the various elements shift in z-order.
View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing CS6 on Windows 7 and Illustrator has decided not to acknowledge my Ctrl key, Shify key or space bar.
I have tried resetting Illustrator and even deleted the App data files but it didn't work. I found people with similar problems but never a solid solution. I even uninstalled evernote when some person said that worked for them.
At the moment if I try to undo I get the Zoom tool and I can no longer save with Ctrl + S, I can't bring up the hand tool with space or use any of the more common shorctcuts. This problem only affects Illustrator in all other programs the keys work fine, including other programs in CS6.
Artwork becoming deformed after scaling or moving it?
I attached a screenshot of a piece of clipart that I scaled down twice with the original showing on top. You can see in the art in the middle position that it's been changed while the original size and smallest size seem to be fine. They are all the same, copy, pasted and rezied.
It's happening very often, and once it does I end up having to re-import or redraw the art.
how line art changes when scaling object in AI CC? For example I have a logo file to deliver to client that doesn't have the font. In AI CS6 and below you can hold the shift key and resize objects smaller and keep the shape's intergrity. I've noticed in AI CC that resizing fonts converted to paths smaller does not hold the characters shape as well as previous versions of Illustrator. I understood the industry practice of converting fonts to paths as the last thing to do prior to shipping out a design to production. But what happens to logo files that get sent out to clients/vendors, for these files it is paramount to keep the shape intact.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI then change to my A0 template on a different tab in the same drawing, size up the model in model space within the viewport (everything still fine), then as soon as I scale the model to 1:200 the icons I've added to the drawing (I say icon it's one particular group of icons - CCTV camera icons I've made and added) suddenly become massive and three times the size.
If I add them when already at 1:200 they're fine but it only seems to do this when I actually scale the drawing.
When I tried to scale an object to more than 200%, I kept getting the message that this would make some objects too large. I tried making my artboard larger but still got the same message. Am I doing something wrong?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI know, I know. This question has been asked a million times already. Unfortunately the Align New Objects to Pixel Grid / Snap to pixel grid tip doesn't work for me. When I scale the image down to tiny proportions, the path becomes horribly, sickeningly distorted. It certainly seems like the pixels are being snapped to some kind of grid, but as you can see in the screenshot, the option is disabled. I tried switching between RGB and CMYK with no luck but I havent messed with the document profile past that. I am not yet ready to spend another few hours recreating the image.
I am using Illstrator CS6. Everything except the "web studio" is a path.
How could this happen? I tried to scale a logo down to fit a stamp and Illustrator destroys it by distorting the paths.

Is there a way in Illustrator CS6 to scale text inside a text box so that the text and box scale together proportionately? Not using the scale tool where you have to enter percentages, but using a keystroke. In Quark, you can do this by holding down Command + Shift and dragging the box. This will make the text and box bigger keeping the same dimensions. It's a very quick and easy way of changing the size of your text.
