AutoCAD 2013 :: Working Of Shift Overrides
Jul 16, 2013
I am have an issue with the shift overrides not working when there is an image under where i am working.
In the same drawing for example i can use shift to either select more than one point in a polyline, or to change between trim and extend or to fillet with a radius or to a point.
but when i try to do this with an image in the background it doesn't work. I need the image as i am tracing shapes.

I am trying to override a dimension to provide a +/- at the end of one ACA dimension. I added the override, but it is not showing up - even after a regeneration...

A while ago I found out you can deselect something from your current selection set by holding down the shift key and clicking on it. This was a pretty useful tool...but then it randomly stopped working today for me.

I haven't been able to use the 3D orbiting shortcut since yesterday. I'm using a wireless Microsoft Mouse and keyboard instead of the inbuilt mouse & keyboard on my laptop (which don't seem to be executing the command either).
Up until yesterday I never had any problems orbiting the view.

Trying to change the color of a layer in a viewport (different than the default layer color (i.e. model layer color)). Objects are set to bylayer. Changing the VP color in the layer dialog brings up the color dialog, select a different color, click OK and the VP Color DOESN"T change in the layer dialog. It stays at its previous color. Occurs on several machines.

I have an XREF that I want the lines to appear has color 253.
I go into layer properties and override the layer colors to 253. Some of the lines in the XREF change to 253. Other lines don't because they are not "By Layer" in the xref file.
Is there a setting in autocad that will override these lines that are not "by-layer"?

We just installed AutoCAD P&ID 2013 and there is a HUGE problem with deselecting. This problem is not just on one computer, it is a systemic issue in P&ID 2013.

In X5 holding [Shift] while zooming with the scroll-wheel decreases the zoom step size. In X6, holding [Shift] has no effect and CorelDraw zooms in the same large steps as when zooming without holding [shift].
I have both X5 and X6 installed. X5 performs as it should, X6 does not.
why [shift] has no effect? I desperately want the smaller zoom-steps back!

But when trying to rotate an object in 2010 3ds Max while holding shift to only rotate every 5th degree it ends up rotating the same as it would when normally rotating. I know this is a feature in the 2010 version but cannot find the shortcut key in the settings.

I use the shift+/ shortcut heavily to reset my view centrally and fit it into the screen. Recently though I've noticed it intermittently stops working. I'm running After Effects 12.2.1.5 on Mac OSX mavericks on a MBP Retina 2013.

I wonder if anyone can help me out with this. When I try to transform something I use the shift key while transforming to constrain the proportions but for some reason it has stopped working and I can not figure out why and how to fix it.

When I hold down shift to scale an object or image to keep the proportions constrained, it does not work. This has only recently started to happen and it also happens on photoshop.
I don't have entourage running, which I read could be a culprit.
Would I need to reinstall my CS2?
I am using a Mac Powerbook G4, OSX 10.4.11 Adobe CS2

Have you ever had shift not work when trying to constrain proportions while scaling in illustrator CS5? I have seen some other posts on this and they mentioned quitting entourage or disabling your firewall as a fix. I am not running Entourage nor am behind a firewall. I also reset my preferences.

in all previous versions there was a brilliant shortcut for selecting light areas of the image - ctrl+shift+alt+~
In SC4 it doesn't work.
Did they changed it?

While working with my Easy Ease, the SHIFT+F9 just no longer works or hasn't since installation. SHIFT+CTRL+F9, or F9 work as intended.(I checked the pref text file for my keyboard short cuts and SHIFT+F9 is assigned correctly)
Now when I create a preset then wish to view or browse my presets I click Animation > Browse Preset, and nothing happens.(Made a shortcut to my preset folder)

Am I missing something or has shift-drag / click for deselecting been removed from C3D 2013?
Is this a variable I can re-enable? Or is there a hotfix for this?

why this simple shortcut is suddenly not working in Illustrator CC?
I try to use it to duplicate an empty circle with a coloured path while scaling it down (with the intention of using Ctrl D to continue the progression). The shortcut simple resizes the path without duplicating it.

I was having a few issues with shift-constrain resizing not working, and option-drag duplication not working, also using the space bar to move the document around the viewport.
OSX 10.9, InDesign 9.2.1.
I reset the preferences, restarted which failed to solve the problem. However once I updated my Wacom driver from 6.3.3 to the latest 6.3.8-2 that seemed to solve the problem.

I have this heavy issue, i can't send to back a line, an object or a hatch under other lines. In 2012 i used this feature a lot but in 2013 it's not working very much, maybe 1 time out of 10 and i absolutely can't say why.
HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.
Let's say i put an entire floor plan into block then draw over it. (I don't want to start a Xref discussion please) i can't send the entire bloc to the back.I used to do that with 2012, 2008, 2007.. but it's 2013 it's not working, is there a way to correct that?

So I'm having an issue with our sheetset override. I created a override template for a 30x42 sheet size. I created a 30x42 box in paper space and put it on a defpoints layer. In the sheet properties, I have the margins zeroed out. The margins are drawn into the title block. The plot properties are set 1:1 and to extents.
When I plot a sheetset using the above override, the right side of the titleblock gets cut off, around 1/4" to 1/2" at the most. In plot preview, it does not show the edge getting cut off. However, in the plot window, where it visually shows the sheet and if you are exceeding the sheet limits or not, the red box is displayed.
However, when I manually plot the drawing without using the sheetset manager, it plots the sheet fine, but then adds 1/2" on the left side! I'm using the same plot settings as the sheetset override is. Now, when I "publish to plotter" in the sheetset manager, it adds an inch to the left side. In short, using all the same plot settings:
Manual plot = 42-1/2"x30
"Plublish to plotter" using sheetset manager = 43x30.
Using sheetset override = cuts 1/2" off right side.

Each time I open a drawing, on my arrow dimension I get a style override which is always scaled at 96. Even if I delete the style override, when I close the drawing and open it again, it's back. It's always on the "arrow" dimension, never any other dimensions. I don't know why it's been doing this, it just started one day out of nowhere. Is there a way I can get rid of it? I'm using AutoCAD 2005.

I have a layout tab that has a page setup set as current. Page setup name is "Letter_Portrait"
"Letter_Portrait" is set to print on letter-sized paper, portrait orientation, 1:1 scale, to a network printer. Printing this layout to the printer prints perfectly.
When I try to export to pdf using the EXPORTPDF command, the resulting pdf file that is created is clipped. I then try same command, only this time use "Page Setup Override" and change the "Plot Scale" option to "Fit to Paper". I would think that this would solve the clipped pdf file AutoCAD generates. But instead I get the same clipped image.
The only way I have found to get around this is to change the layout's Page Setup scale from 1:1 to "Fit to paper". Shouldn't the PDF Page Setup Override accomplish this without having to change the layout's Page Setup?

i've run into this quite a few times where i would open a drawing and there would be an override on the current dimstyle...i would clear the override and save the drawing...another day i would open the file and the override is created again...
i greatly suspect that the annotation scale is the culprit...when i check the dimstyle override the scale for dimension under the fittab is set to a number reflecting the scale...ie if the annotation is 1"=1'-0" it will be 12...if it's 1/4"=1'-0" it will be 48 etc...
i also noticed that an override is created after editing a dynamic block...
in addition to the above, the override is not created if the anotative scale is the same as the "fit" number...
