I am desperately trying to change the Canvas Colour for an image in Gimp 2.8.
At the moment in displays in black and grey squares and when I save the image as a jpg it's black.
I am working on an extracted image that contains a logo and a transparent background. I cannot figure out how to change the background of the extracted image leaving the logo with the same colour. I will also like to learn how to change the colour of the logo.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to automate the following: I have a directory of about 50 jpg files. With each file I would like to:
- make the image square, by increasing the canvas size of the least dimension. ie if the width is less than the height, increase the width to the value of the height, or conversely if the height is less than the width
- add a transparency layer
- save to xcf
basically what I did was I wanted a certain part of an image and I used the eraser tool along with adding the alpha channel so I can get rid of everything in the image but a cropped version of it (basically erasing around what I want to keep). How do I fit the canvas to this oddly shaped image now?
You can say I want to create an icon but when I save it as a .png or .jpg, I get this white background replacing the alpha channel when I just want the cropped image itself. I tried going about using the free select tool, going around the image and then using the "Fit Canvas to Selection" option but that just takes way too long.
I'm using Gimp 2.8 on Fedora 17 i686. I have noticed that when I cancel out of set image canvas size and return to set image canvas size I have no preview image. I was wondering if this is a problem with Gimp
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn GIMP 2.8, when I copy a large image and paste it into a small canvas, the edges of the image exceeding the canvas are lost.
In Paint.Net 3.5, when you paste a large image into a small canvas, a dialog box displays
The image being pasted is larger than the canvas size. What do you want to do?
1) Expand Canvas to fit the image being pasted.
2) Keep canvas size.
3) Cancel Paste
This would be a great default feature for GIMP.
I have an image with many layers. I want to cut a vertical strip out of the middle of one of the layers because I want to narrow the transparent gap between the left side of that layer and the right side. That is, my image has stuff on the left side and stuff on the right and a gap in the middle through which shows the pattern in the layers below, and I want to narrow that middle gap. I want to do the same thing as cutting a vertical strip down the middle of that top layer with scissors so I can scrunch the sides together, so less of the patterns on the layers behind shows through.
Is there any way to do this? It doesn't work when I simply select the area I want to cut and click "cut" or "clear" - those commands don't get rid of the canvas in that section, just the contents, which are transparent anyway.
I'm trying to avoid resizing the canvas and then laboriously reconstructing the layer with all the finicky alignment issues, because that seems unnecessarily time-consuming, when all I need to do is remove a gap in a blank section. I tried using guides to guillotine the image, but that, too, is turning out to be time-consuming in terms of reassembling the image. I know I must be missing something obvious - how does one simply remove a selection of the canvas (and not of the image itself) with the selection tool?
I have a canvas and it's 2048x2048 the image is 2041x2041 but there's this ugly gap on the sides and if I use the zealous crop tool it changes the canvas to 2041x2041. This aint what I want.
I want the image to be 2048 with the canvas so, I do image resize, thinkin oh this will work.
but nah, if I image resize it changes the whole canvas, I just want the image to change, and besides that if the canvas is 2048 the image resize tool will say the Image is 2048 even though the image it's self is 2041. So I guess what I'm sayin is there's a bug or something which makes the image resize tool resize the canvas instead.
So how would I go about resizing my image to fit the 2048 canvas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted to combine two images one needs to be fit to the scale of the background image. So basically I followed the instructions.
Open up your background layer which was 800x600 landscape photo.
Then I imported my other image which was 600x800 portrait photo too. Layers -Import from file. I resized it then copied into a new layer. That was fine.
The problem is as soon as the new image is imported, the background image changes so that it only takes up half of the canvas. So now I've got a white area for half of the canvas. I can't seem to change this.
If I have a red flower on a multi-coloured background, and I want to make the background black. I select the flower using the magic scissors (tried selecting by colour but nothing happened), invert, then whichever method I follow to achieve the black background, it's always the flower that changes colour, not the background. I've tried not inverting it, it gives the same result. I can only change the colour of the selected subject, not the background. I have followed all the steps in different tutorials, always with the same result. GIMP 2.8.4.

Even when i import the image again the waveform it is white in photoshop but not when i open it indipendately.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the colour of a selection of an image - in this case a mug. So obviously, I want the mug and the mug only to change colour (and not the area inside the handle).
The mug is white meaning I cannot adjust the hue/saturation.
I recently turned down a job (foolish I know) because I didnt have a clue how to go about doing it.
I was asked by a shoe company if I was able to photoshop a load of images of white wedding shoes and change each one into the 35 colours they offer.
Attached is the sample they sent me which I've cobbled together showing one of the colours they do (green) and one of the white shoes that would need changing.
Now while Im not a photoshop pro, I have the basic grasp of selecting objects using the quick selection tool etc.
The two burning questions for me would be:
1) once I've selected the area of the shoe that needs changing, how to change the colour. I know I could "paint" the shoe with a colour and set it to say 50% transparent so you can see see the shadow etc but how do you change it and keep all of the shading etc?
2) The reflection - this seems a near impossible task. How to select just the bits needed?!
I have a jpeg image and would like to change the colour of 3 of the words on the image. The image is on a black background.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an image which I want to display using only a limited set of specific colours which I have defined in a colour palette. I am aware of the colour map plugin, but from what I can gather from the documentation it simply uses each pixels luminosity as an index. I want to to map each pixel to the colour in my palette that most closely represents the original colour. How do I do this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just begun using Illustrator CS6. I have a very simple image (.png file) that I would like to annotate with some arrows and some text. This file is what I guess you would consider a raster image (no vector graphics) that has a very limited color range. It has less than ten basic colors plus a gradient fill (shades of gray) in a few places.
I want to use illustrator to annotate this image with some lines with arrows and some text, but first, there are a few stray lines that I would like to eliminate. For example, there is a black line that I would like to "erase" by replacing all the black pixels in this line with white pixels. I tried to do this by selecting the "Paint Brush" tool and then selecting white as both my fill and my stroke color. After doing this, I position the cursor over the pixels I want to change but the cursor appears as a circle with a line through it, and it doesn't do anything.
Basically, when I try to insert a photo through Edit>Paste As>New Layer, instead of the colour surrounding the image being white, it is black.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got CS5.1 at my job. This must be a preference, but when I adjust the Canvas size, it will constrain the image, rather than cropping the canvas. The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do I see the object selected change colour dynamically as I adjust the colour sliders?
It seems the object only changes colour when I release the slider. But I want to see it dynamically change, so I can find the colour that works best without "hit or miss" - "trial and error" behaviour.
Yes... I'm aware some of you spend hours in colour programs creating a palette to work with. Good for you.
I'm just wanting to do it LIVE. Dynamically. In 2013. In Illustrator.
Currently the screen has a black border when I scroll to reduce the image size. Originally it may have been white.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy image is in grayscale though it's recognised as RGB. It contains structures in white which I would like to fill with a colour. So basically, I'd like for all the white in the image to show up as e.g. red.
How do I do that? I'm guessing it must be possible to have a red layer and somehow this will then fill the white, but I'm getting confused with background and foreground filling options and I don't know which transparency options I have to choose.
Canvas size occasionally the canvas extension colour is greyed out this can happen on any file ie jpg tiff or PSD.
